  1. Beat Watford, Bournemouth, Southampton, Sheffield Utd, West Ham. Draw with Man Utd, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Arsenal, Everton. Tough but doable if we bring in the right players. Keep the faith!
  2. Par for the course..... Personally, I didn't rate Nyland at all last season and was relieved - although it wasn't in the circumstances I'd wished for - when he could no longer be selected. But, fair is fair, he's done well when called upon so far this season. I just hope he can keep that up for the rest of the season.
  3. I don't think we'll do as many deals as people hope for. I think we'll buy a new striker (Bowen or Mitrovic? ) and a new wide forward (Benrahma?). I think we will then loan another striker (Batshuayi?) and another central midfielder (who knows?) to cover McGinn's absence. Other than those I think that'll be it. He's got three 'keepers already and Steer to come back before the end of the season. Means that the players we already had, deemed not good enough to start, will what we have to rely on. I think he'll keep the defence as it is because we have a plethora of them. He's got Luiz and Nakamba to play the deeper midfield role. So, I think the management team will simply think they just need to add to the forward line and cover McGinn's absence.
  4. So, please tell us your choice to replace Smith? Share with us your preferred starting eleven also, possibly? Would you give Smith this window to try to turn it around or would you replace him with your choice now?
  5. Even after that display today? He is appalling.
  6. Taylor again. He is so poor. We definitely should be looking to sign another left back in January because he is simply unreliable.
  7. What's happened to the Engels that started the season so well?
  8. That cross from the young kid, how did Nyland not get to that? He dived flat without stretching out his arms to gather it. That was poor 'keeping! Also, they bring a kid on and he immediately has an impact. Ours have hardly touched the ball.
  9. Lansbury and Hourihane can't moan about not starting Premier League games. They've hardly shown anything decent that they can do today.
  10. I don't think he's as bad as people make out. He's hardly had any cover with Grealish playing on that side of attack. When he's got some cover on that flank I think we will see him in a better light.
  11. I don't think the pressure has gone away at all. We won at Burnley but they were all over us in the second half and we could have easily conceded a few if their forwards had their shooting boots on. Staying up was always the agenda for me and now we are halfway through the season I think we can all agree we're in a dogfight. I don't doubt for one minute that the players we bring in this month will be players already established in this country and most likely with Premier League experience and in their mid to late 20s.
  12. Sir Gary Cahill might finally get his wish of seeing this lad play for the first team.
  13. With Nayland coming in for Heaton I'd quite like a bit more of an experienced defence in front of him. A centre back treble of Engels, Chester, Mings would be funky awesome.
  14. If we sign him I'm going to hate everytime his pass fails to reach its target and the commentator says "that pass was under hit"
  15. If Wes is out long term we need to bring Hogan back from his loan, loan ourselves another striker and buy a starting striker. Let Kodjia go. Loaner I'd go for is Benteke. He's always been good but fallen apart since leaving us. We could bring him back on loan until the end of the season and see if there's any spark left in him. I don't know who we should buy as a starting striker but Mitrovic does tick a lot of boxes: He's young enough to fit in with our current crop of players He has two seasons of Premier League experience and scored a fair amount of goals. He works hard for the team and can hold the ball up and bring others into play. He gets on the end of crosses - we scored the most goals from crosses in the Championship last season. He would cost a lot but he'll have sell-on value if things don't work out for him. PS: I wonder if Fulham would consider a cash plus Kodjia swap for Mitrovic? Kodjia has proven history of scoring plenty of goals at that level. Offer them £20-25m plus Kodjia maybe?
  16. Isn't he the only player in the team that also cannot speak the language? I'm sure I read that Wesley was acting as his interpreter.
  17. Time is everything they need. The players have ability. Trezeguet gets a lot of stick but I felt sorry for him yesterday because Jack should have played him in instead of squaring to Luiz and Kodjia should have squared to him instead of taking that pathetic shot that dribbled wide. They will get better in time. They will have moved in to new homes with their families and settled down their roots here. They will have learnt more of the language and got used to the weather and training etc. Everything will gel given time. If we can stay up and add two or three more quality players we will do well next season.
  18. These are my thoughts on the Wesley v Kodjia scenario: Wesley is young and new to the country/league etc and is keen and eager to impress and do well but has struggled to adapt so far but yesterday showed that he is a threat and can score when given a chance. Kodjia has had his time here, clearly isn't seen as good enough by Smith and Co and, plays like he hasn't a care in the world. In fact, yesterday's substitute performance gave the impression that he knows he is going this month. We must bring in another striker. If we could buy one and loan the other I'd be up for that. If Wesley isn't out for too long I'd like to see us get Benteke in on loan until the end of the season. I think he could help young Wesley to settle in. He came from the same league to play here, at a similar age and can maybe help him to settle down and adapt to the rigours of the Premier League. I think we'd also bring someone in who would try harder for the club when given a chance due to how he was loved here in the past. I'm not saying he's the answer to our problems but I wouldn't mind him as back-up instead of Kodjia and Davis.
  19. That challenge was way too aggressive and he wanted to make an impact on Wesley that is why he was so aggressive in the challenge. Now, I know there are many old-schoolers who will say it was a great tackle - I'm one of them - but, you see this kind of challenge regularly being punished by referees where they say that getting the ball simply isn't a good enough reason for injuring a player. That tackle was only ever going to result in Wesley getting hurt.
  20. Much better from him today. The attempted chip over the keeper was poor. If he'd been more aware he could have played it to his left and an oncomjng Villa player to have a lot of the empty goal to aim at. I hope he keeps improving as he clearly is a decent player.
  21. Phenomenal footballer. What a joy it is to have him at our club. Let's hope we can buy the quality needed to play alongside him - he deserves it!
  22. Great to have him back but dallying on the ball at the back has to stop as it nearly cost us a goal today.
  23. Finally looked the part today then gets a nasty - but fair - tackle and he's injured. Hopefully, he won't be out too long.
