  1. My biggest concern about Dean is his substitutions. Today, Drinkwater was having a mare. But, he left him on and took off Luiz. I'm not sure why that was and can only think he felt it better for Drinkwater'S confidence to give him more game time. But, what does that do for Luiz's confidence? Nakamba can't feel too great at being dropped for someone who is brand new and hardly played first team football for 2 years. By dropping Nakamba and subbing Luiz he might make their heads drop and, if it does, he then relies on Lansbury, Hourihane and Drinkwater which is worrying. Dean, the back five will do us good against more ordinary opposition but you have to have a settled back five and stop changing it around. Also, you need to find a settled midfield. Leave Nakamba and Luiz to form a partnership and leave Jack to float around and get himself on the ball. Add two forwards to that and we will be OK.
  2. We've lost many times at Wembley and playing Citeh would be another. But, I'm sure that Villa would still sell all their allocation with fans going simply for the day out and piss up.
  3. The goal difference will be shot to shite after this. Stats often show the three teams with the worst goal difference go down. We're well into that bracket after this, surely?
  4. That just summed Drinkwater up. Mendy mis-controls the ball but Drinkwater hesitated and then when he did try to get it back it simply bounced off them and to a Man City player. The crowd there today deserve something to cheer. Hopefully, before the end, the players give them something.
  5. Come on guys, what do you all reckon the final score will be? I honestly cannot see any positives to clutch at and only see another goal in the first 10 minutes followed by 4 or 5 more so am going for Villa 0 - Citeh 10 If that happens, you might see Smith go tonight or tomorrow.
  6. I think that Drinkwater was Smith's choice and I'm as baffled by it as you are and that was before today's game. He couldn't get into a poor Burnley side so I had no hopes of this working out at all. Having said that, the more baffling thing is that Smith threw him in today against a side like Man City. Nakamba may not be the best but he at least is familiar with his teammates. I often find reasons to back Smith and his decisions but I can't back him at all with the signing of Drinkwater or today's team selection. A Villa fan he may be but, today, he may have the misfortune of managing Villa's worst ever top flight defeat.
  7. For the goals, first goal was shocking from Drinkwater. He absolutely has to know not to allow Mahrez in onto his left foot and should just have tried to show him down the line. Second goal was poor from whoever it was trying to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick. There was plenty of time and space to hook that out for a throw in. Drinkwater duelt but he had very little time to do anything with that ball. Third goal is terrible defending but Nyland absolutely has to keep that out. Fourth goal Konsa has no idea where Jesus is. He's totally unaware of what's around him.
  8. Before the game I checked out some stats. Jesus and Aguero have played up front together 11 times and Man City have scored 34 goals in those games, with the two strikers bagging 18 goals between them. That told me that we could concede at least 3 today. With our depleted team I thought you can add at least one more to the mix. Then, I saw the starting midfield line up for us and thought that we would lose by 5 or 6 today. Right now, I'd take 5 because this could be 8 or 9.
  9. I can understand not picking a striker but that midfield selection is baffling. No way would I have put Drinkwater in for his debut in this game and then throw Hourihane in there too just to make sure he has to do even more running.
  10. It's one game and against a brutal side but, that aside, the fact he couldn't get in that poor Burnley side did make me wonder if he is now up to it.
  11. Why did you have to go and say that? Lol
  12. We will probably be back in the bottom three today. Let's not have a panic attack, please!
  13. When you think of where their players came from, the management team have taken them and turned them into World Champions. Robertson from Hull, Van Dijk from Celtic, Gomez from Charlton, Henderson from Sunderland, Wijnaldum from Newcastle, Lallana and Mane from Southampton, Salah from Roma (previously shown the exit door at Chelsea) etc. It's not like Liverpool have been taking players from the very best clubs around Europe or England. They've taken good players from less glamorous clubs and made them look unbeatable.
  14. It's certainly a positive sign but what does this say to Nyland if Reina comes in for just 6 months and takes the number one spot? I mean, when we signed Heaton, Nyland was probably still not fully recovered from last season's injury. But, he's waited his turn and performed really well. If Reina takes that shirt it's going to destroy Nyland and the way he feels about the management.
  15. I hope we don't automatically replace Nyland with Reina and give the lad a chance to shine. If Benteke comes back, I hope its a loan deal with us paying at most half his wages. We must be looking at two strikers so I hope the main man is seen as someone who is a proven goalscorer, has pace, is athletic and, is willing to give his all.
  16. Why the f**k don't we have a vomit dislike option for this kind of post?
  17. No mate, Florinel Coman. He's a 21 year old Romanian who plays left wing and is currently top goalscorer (10) and joint second assists (7) in the Romanian top flight. He's 6ft and dubbed the Romanian Mbappe.
  18. I think the only business we will do is up front. Kodjia is going so we absolutely need 2 strikers. I think it'll be Benteke on loan plus a permanent signing of Coman, Mitrovic or Gayle.
  19. Norwich are going down. Bournemouth have always been a team that would fight but could go down. Burnley are shocking, as shown in the first half against us. We just need to get to 38 points and we will be OK.
  20. Wow! Is that right? Did he Polish them?
  21. But, what if you could shag her again and get that feeling back that you've missed for so long with the duds you ended up with?
  22. But, BUT, he wasn't playing in the colours of the mighty Villa in those 62 games! See, maybe, just maybe, when he wears those colours and hears that chant, he transforms into some kind of superhero that loves to hit the back of the net?
  23. Would anyone take back Ashley Young if it was at all possible? He can play the attacking left back role or either wing?
  24. Wait, so, with a decent couple of strikers and the odd tweak here and there, we could still make Europe?
