  1. They should have shut all borders immediately and learnt a lesson from what's happened in Italy. Who knows how many infected people we have allowed into the country.
  2. This guy at work really acts like he cares but when I asked to change my hours his true colours shone through. I'll push for wfh on Monday as I have a 6 year old and want to be around to see him grow to be a Father himself one day.
  3. There's definitely not as much pollution around as my breathing is proving this to me. My lungs feel clear for the first time in my life and things are tasting different to me for some weird reason. If the conspiracy theory about Chemtrails is correct, that they are put into the sky to prevent the full heat of the sun getting through to us, surely this summer will be one of the hottest ever recorded? That could lead to a lot more damage to the planet. However, they say that the heat will kill this virus so we will see how that pans out in a couple of months time.
  4. I work 8:30am - 5pm with one hour lunch and my journey each way takes at least one hour so get caught on busy buses to and from work. I asked my Director last Friday if I can change my hours and he said he will discuss it this week with other management as he doesn't want to set a precedent where others want to change their hours too. I would prefer to start at 7:30am and work until 3:30pm and take only half hour lunch so I'm not on the rush hour buses. They might as well do it because if, as he and others tell me, I'm important to the operation why risk my wellbeing? Better to let me work hours suitable for me than lose me completely!
  5. I was given a company laptop a couple of weeks ago in case anything happens and I need to stay at home. However, my Director told me on Friday that the company needs me on site. I'm going to see my HR Manager on Monday to see where I stand because the Government advice to my kind is to work from home if possible and to avoid public transport. I cannot afford to pay £20 per day - £400 per month - in taxi fares to and from work. It would be better for me to live off 80% of my salary and stay home if they will allow me to. Not sure if the 80% is only for those who have the virus though or whether it applies to people encouraged to stay home when at risk?
  6. My missus found out today that her niece (she is in her mid 20s) has Coronavirus. She's been told to stay home and only call 999 if the symptoms get really bad. Thankfully for me, my missus has had no contact with her niece or anyone else close to her niece. I'm Asthmatic and had my last Asthma attack around six and a half years ago. It was about a month before my girlfriend was due to give birth to our son. I think I got a bit anxious and panicky one evening and as the night wore on I struggled to breathe more and more until my girlfriend decided she wouldn't watch my struggle any longer and drove me to the local hospital. I was kept in for three days on oxygen and steroids. I've also got a lung weakened as a result of suffering a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) 16 years ago. I was close to death as the clot was apparently a severe one. One doctor told me I was lucky to be alive but now had a weakened lung as a result of what happened to me. Obviously, I'm hoping not to get the virus as, apparently, at its peak it can lower your lung capacity to 20% which makes it difficult for people with breathing difficulties to survive. However, I work several miles away and don't drive so have to take two buses to work and then two home. Its hard to keep distance from strangers when you are invariably sat either directly in front or behind one. I also work in a company of 250 people. I'm pretty exposed to contact so I'm quite worried. Que sera sera I guess.
  7. I have Asthma too, had it all my 48 years. I have to say that since they stopped the planes my breathing has increasingly got better, to the point where I feel like I could run a marathon. I just feel so much more full of life because of my breathing being much better. Are you breathing better too? Is your boss allowing you to work from home? Mine is determined to have me go to work every day.
  8. Why not scrap the seasons of each league they wish to do so and start the next season with the same teams in the leagues but, using a handicap system to begin the season with. Norwich start at 0 points gf = 0 ga = 27, Villa at 4 points gf = 0 ga = 22 and so on. Liverpool would pretty much still have a title to hold on to and all the struggles have a battle to fight still.
  9. Football isn't happening soon. I doubt the virus will suddenly recede in numbers just because the kids won't be at school. The only way football will happen earlier is through playing behind closed doors but even then you need people at the games for multiple reasons and the risk would be too high. Shutting football down took precedence over schools closing so it wouldn't surprise me if football didn't start back up after the schools have opened again and that is being forecasted as after the normal summer holidays.
  10. They are not going to be playing football within two months, that's for sure. When the football starts again, the players will have had long enough off to be ready to go again. Just because Bodymoor is closed I'm sure they can workout at home and not forget their colleagues names and how to play football.
  11. If the season cannot be completed surely the only answer is to void it and start afresh when all this is over?
  12. Yep, it shouldn't cost too much to persuade Rafa Benitez that Birmingham is a safer place to be than China.
  13. Without prior knowledge to what the answer is, I say, do the same as what they do if a match is abandoned midway through a game. So, for instance, say a home team is 1-0 up and after 70 minutes the game is abandoned due to floodlight failure, what happens? Whatever the answer is, that's what they should do with the season.
  14. I'm a fan of Dean Smith but sadly it has become absolutely clear that he is not learning. Every game he waits and waits until the second goal before making a change. What did he see in that first half performance to give him hope that the same eleven players, in the same formation, would change that game second half? At least one change should have been made at half time. When we played them at Villa Park Ricardo - their right back - was MOTM. That's because Grealish doesn't have the discipline or desire to track him back and stay out wide. It was the same last night. Albrighton and Ricardo gave Targett a rough time. Smith has been trying to get our full backs up the pitch to support but you need two v two to have a chance of that, not one v two! It also stops Grealish having as much of the ball and it kills us. I also think Grealish may have become frustrated at being played out wide. He's not affecting the games like he was. Maybe he has given Man Utd an answer already? Another failure on Smith's part is dropping Nyland. I was not a fan of his after last season's debacle but he played well when called upon this season and it was harsh to drop him for a 37 year old loanee who'll be back to Roma in the summer. Last night, it felt for me that the players are not playing for him and that is the most worrying thing. I was up for him getting next season if we do go down, which looks inevitable. But, if he's lost the dressing room, there's no way he can stay.
  15. Well said! Sometimes, even knowing that we cannot defend corners, they head it out for a corner when they could simply head for a throw or away from danger. They are clueless.
  16. Sorry, we have three bodies in the middle of the pitch and they're completely out of the game. We need wide men tracking back as that's where they're killing us - down the flanks.
  17. I tell ya, Reina was shite in that defeat at Southampton - his last game. He gave the ball away constantly. Nyland has been very unlucky to be dropped for him. However, several players tonight are way off the mark. Luiz has been appalling, Hourihane anonymous, Guilbert simply ball-watched for Barnes' run for the goal, Grealish is wasted out on the wing. Samatta is a line figure and way too isolated. Smith needs to change this at half time. Take off Hourihane and put on Davis. Play Jack in the middle and throw Davis wide left and just hit him with long balls and get him to hold the ball up whilst the rest join in the attack. Leicester play the shape of Liverpool with their two full backs burning forward. We need to have Samatta out wife right and Davis wide left and each time we win the ball just lump it to them and then join in from midfield. One thing they simply need to do and that's play with some urgency. Surely that's a minimum requirement, to seem to be up for it?
  18. It's not often we agree but I was just thinking exactly the same there. He should be the commanding figure for us in that box.
  19. They should have two by now. We've got to stop giving away corners or they will score eventually.
  20. There is just no urgency at all in the players in our half of the pitch. The only players that show urgency are the forwards.
  21. Can't argue with the questioning of the coaching routines when we are always looking like we will concede from set pieces.
  22. I reckon we will either man up and win 2-1 or sneak a 1-1 draw. Hourihane scoring.
  23. Anyone got any tips for this year's festival? - should it go ahead! A few decent-priced horses that I fancy are: Ultima Handicap Chase = The Conditional Champion Hurdle = Cilaos Emery Mares Novices Hurdle = Concertista Brown Advisory Plate Chase = La Bague Au Roi County Hurdle = Eglantine Du Sueil Albert Bartlett Novices = Ramses De Teillee Also going to have bets on Goshen, Asterion Torlonge, Faugheen, Envoi Allen, Defi Du Sueil, Paisley Park, Al Boum Photo, to name a few.
  24. Need to beat Sheffield Utd and Palace at home and get a couple of draws. Then need to win at Newcastle and find another win from somewhere.
