  1. I appreciate we didn't lose but cannot see us staying up unless we improve massively on that performance. For me, the season being suspended killed any hope we had. Not having the fans behind us in those home games against Man Utd and Arsenal teams that have struggled is damaging to us.
  2. When the crossed ball is going behind you surely the best option is to push it over the bar rather than catch it whilst moving backwards? I'm no keeper but that isn't rocket science.
  3. A decent striker would have scored one of those three chances. They were pretty clearcut.
  4. Because that was first game back and chance to show what they're made of. They didn't do it and were lucky to escape with a point. Play like that and we lose to almost all our remaining opposition for sure. For me, that was a game that we needed to win.
  5. You were happy with that? Play like that and we are down for sure.
  6. Considering he's watched all the games back it doesn't seem like anything has changed. Either don't know what they're doing or the players simply aren't good enough.
  7. It was a great ball. Davis was too slow to get ahead of the defender
  8. Brilliant from Jack and El Ghazi but Davis has to get on that. He was far too slow.
  9. McGinn off for Trezeguet. Move Grealish behind Davis and drop Hourihane deeper.
  10. Luiz should be subbed. He's walking a tightrope in a key position and we can make 5 subs so why not make that tactical sub? I can see us losing this.
  11. Those thinking we look good are being easily pleased. This is awful. Davis should have scored other than that and a questionable penalty shout we have not threatened and it is simply like watching a training game. We lose this unless we up our tempo and add quality to the team. That was a goal. How VAR didn't overrule that is beyond belief. Is there a rule that says VAR cannot overrule the goal line technology?
  12. I think it is DJ Jazzy Jeff (Lynne) and the Fresh Prince (William)
  13. Did Robinson get a touch on that ball? If not, surely that is a pen?
  14. We need to play quicker, give-and-go type football. Everything is steady and safe.
  15. Luiz booked and already made a foul since. Another one or two max and he is off. With 5 subs should we put Nakamba on after Luiz's next foul?
  16. At least we all know why Small Heath have been shit for so long. Imagine having to play in this atmosphere twenty odd times a season.
  17. I came past the ground tonight and saw a guy selling Villa merch in that little park on Witton Lane. I wonder how many are standing up in Aston Park right now?
  18. Surprising team with no Guilbert in the squad at all and Elmo not in. Is it Targett for RB and Hause for LB to match the height of Basham at the back post maybe? Surprised at no Engels, Nakamba or Samatta. Can understand McGinn playing and hoping he hits the ground running, so to speak. I get the feeling David will be a target man and can see him holding it up for Grealish, Hourihane and McGinn to run on to. Makes me think there's a goal or two for Hourihane tonight. A 20 yarder maybe? Deano said he has picked the team based on fitness and performance in this mini pre-season so we havr to assume those left out have either let themselves go a bit or just not impressed. So be it. Head says win for Sheff Utd but based on previous performances this season. Maybe, without a crowd on our players' backs, the younger players will show what they're made of. I'm going for a Villa win 3-1 with the trusty trio of Jack, McGinn and Hourihane scoring the goals. Up the Villa! Come on lads, you can win this.
  19. So now we all know where to find you
  20. So you're that irritating git with the green pen then
  21. I was talking about the football returning with an Albion fan at work today. I said that it won't be the same without the fans and that IMO Villa's hopes of survival have been wiped out because our toughest games are at home and we will not have our fans behind us to spur them on. The Albion fan agreed with me about the lack of atmosphere but not about the spurring on part. He reckons that Villa now have a much better chance of staying up. He said that playing at home in front of the Holte, for such a huge club with big money owners and the expectation in their first season, probably gets to the players. He reckons that not hearing the moans and groans from the stands, together with not getting jeered if they go a goal or two down, will give the players freedom and they may just thrive without that pressure on their shoulders. He reckons that Villa will stay up. I hope he is right.
  22. There will be hundred thousand outside Anfield then.
