  1. Exactly! We are stake and he's done nothing. This is on Smith without doubt. Hourihane scored against these at Villa Park. These are his level so should have been on and McGinn off. Trezeguet's done nothing either so he should be off for Davis.
  2. The standard of football is terrible. Clearly, us fans in the stadium make a difference!
  3. Newcastle are clearly playing with the FA Cup quarter final in mind and we still can't score against them.
  4. Is it me or do Villa play like they're in slow motion?
  5. Samatta shouldn't have missed that. Trezeguet's effort was a lot more difficult.
  6. 2 minutes in and Villa have a free kick. McGinn floats it in and Hause heads it miles in the air. Their 'keeper comes out, jumps up and catches it unchallenged. Sums Villa up. No effort to win that ball or even put the goalie off.
  7. I'm a 48yo Villa fan who was born and raised close to the stadium. No matter how much success I've seen, the heartbreak still really hurts when we lose. I try to offset it by expecting us to lose bigger than we actually do and betting on the opposition whenever we go a goal ahead so I know I'll at least make some money to drown my sorrows with.
  8. We simply have to pray for 2 wins and a couple of draws and then hope that West Ham and Bournemouth really fall apart.
  9. We needed to sign players last summer with more Premier League experience. Trezeguet, El Ghazi, Guilbert, Konsa, Hause, Luiz, Nakamba, Wesley, Davis, Samatta, Hourihane, Jota, McGinn all had no PL experience and are mostly either pretty young or new to the country, or both. Most of them have played lots of games this season so it is hardly any wonder we are where we are. It's OK having inexperience if you are a very decent player but we averaged circa £10m signings and these days it's peanuts. Whoever made the decision to go with inexperience, they are the ones to blame for our plight. We should have tried to bring Cahill back to add experience to the defence. We should have signed more experienced CM's and at least one striker who knew the league well.
  10. I think that is little cameo against Chelsea is being taken as evidence for him to get more game time. One shot that went wide. What about all his other performances where he's been absolutely useless?
  11. Maybe because the job/expectation is too much for them? Perhaps we do need to break the bank and go for someone who is used to a big club.
  12. Fact is, if we all feel we are certs to go down, and Jack leave soff the back of that, we may as well change the manager now so that he gets a look at the squad prior to going down and let him see what he needs to change in the summer.
  13. Be honest, did anyone expect us to not lose this? Even with a lead? We've done it all season and NOTHING has changed. Smith said he watched every game back and had managed to sit down with every player 1-to-1, which he doesn't ordinarily do - strangely. Nothing has changed, why?
  14. Jack too slow out to stop the cross. Targett always drifts inside so Jack has to be out there to stop the right back. It was the same when we played Leicester when Ricardo(?) had the whole of that side of the pitch.
  15. Would it be really bad to wish that all Premier League footballers and staff go down with the virus right now and the season is ended with the table as it is now?
  16. You can't pull the race card there NV. The guy clearly needs glasses and psychiatric treatment for even thinking Davis would have scored.
  17. There's a reason for Willian having so much space - Grealish's starting position. Said it all season that when he plays wide left he doesn't track back because he drifts inside too often and the opposition has the freedom of that wing. We should play Trezeguet there and Jack behind Davis to get onto the knock-downs.
  18. We're lifeless. No pressing, no urgency, no closing down, no cutting out crosses etc etc. I'll be amazed if we have a serious goalscoring opportunity in this game.
  19. Villa are really embracing this training ground atmosphere. Today they've turned up for defensive training.
  20. I would have preferred 4 points from the first two games to be honest. Yes, I would have taken a point out of the Chelsea game before Wednesday but now it feels like we need three. Why? Because I think that we will lose against Utd and Liverpool and only get a point off Arsenal at best. I think Wolves will beat us too. We need to get as close to 40 points as possible to have a chance of survival. I thought Sheff Utd was one of our best chances of 3 points and we failed.
  21. I find it bewildering too. I thought that Wednesday was a must-win considering our run-in. I fully expect us to lose on Sunday but hope to be wronged.
  22. I'm not angry. I didn't say I was angry. I just expected us to play better than we did. However, I saw Nyland still looking dodgy on crosses. I saw centre backs looking casual on the ball. I saw us look toothless in attack. Deano said he watched all the games back and had one-to-one meetings with the players. I saw nothing different to what I would have expected before the suspension of the season. Tonight's game, without any doubt, is one of the easiest we have remaining. I saw nothing to make me think we would beat any of Wolves, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea etc.
