I had seen that figure banded about on twitter but didn't know who it came from. Plus, I assumed that we would spend something like that anyway based on the fact we spent the revenue in advance of getting it last season and the officials of the club have said they don't want another struggle like last season - you don't avoid that by spending pocket money.

If we could get Edouard, Benrahma and Rashica for £80m with a few add-ons going out, that leaves £20m to bolster the defence. If we could get someone like Dumfries for £14m, who can play both RB and RCB, we could then afford the £6m to buy Swift although, I think he'll end up going for more like £10m.

I don't agree with the sentiment that the Championship is a good place to buy. The earlier statement that "we had a few down there that we wouldn't want to lose today" I disagree with. The best two I can think of are Konsa and Hourihane and I think both are easily replaceable. How much shite did we buy for big money down in that league? The better players we have now are either homegrown or came from outside of the Championship. I'd prefer us not to buy from the Championship.

Fair enough. But, is it Smith attracting the players or is Lange/Purslow trying to attract the players? Now, if you're saying that playing for Smith is not an attractive proposition for players of a higher quality than what we have, that opens up a whole new can of worms and the owners may have to be ruthless and bring in a bigger name to attract such players.

Tell you what I see. He looks pacey with an eye for goal and, he thinks like a seasoned pro. In their play-off semi Swansea needed something late on and Brentford had a break forward. Benrahma cut inside and hit a shot just over the bar. He sank to his knees feeling sorry for himself and Watkins ran to him, picked him up and, got him to chase back to get back into position. He's a smart lad.

For me, we need a new front three, someone who can play DM and someone who can play RCB. Now, if we could get Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven he can play RB or RCB so can cover both positions if needed. Buy Christian Luyindama from Galatasaray he can play both RCB and DM so again could fill both roles. Both would cost around £25m max. Get three forwards for £75m and we're sorted Edouard = £30m plus Hourihane. Throw in Hogan on loan? Watkins = £25m Rashica = £20m + El Ghazi on loan? Try to offload Jota, Engels etc and loan out Davis to get some needed goalscoring experience.

Am I the only one who would buy Watkins to play him wide left attack IF we could also get Edouard? Watkins is a grafter and will chase back more than Benrahma would. He could also be played down the middle if needed.

I slightly agree with you mate. I'm not sold on our defence. Mings is good and would be even better with a decent partner to play alongside him. Maybe Konsa will become that player but I'm not convinced he is right now. I hope he is though as he seems like a good lad. I'd prefer a right back who is better defensively. Targett will be OK as long as he gets cover from the wide forward playing ahead of him. Grealish fails in that duty hence I'd prefer him behind the striker.
