His first game after joining Villa was the Leicester cup game. Gil allowed his man to run forward unchallenged and they scored from it. He did the same against Arsenal and I think he also did the same against either Newcastle or Stoke. I reckon that Sherwood doesn't think he can have flair players, who fail to do the dirty work, in his team.
I kind of like it but we will get thrashed at places like Old Trafford. I hope I'm wrong but it looks like we're going to be too open for the better teams in the league.
There's one outstanding thing about Tim Sherwood that I absolutely love - he recognises, and keeps stating, that Aston Villa are a massive football club. I don't give a toss about what the modern day, Premier League era, fan may say, Aston Villa are a giant of English football and our new manager accepts and believes in that.
I hope that he can transfer that belief to our playing staff and then, possibly, we'll start to see a turnaround on the pitch, if we're not doing so already!
A few games ago I had Hull and QPR to definitely go down by the last game of the season and for us, Burnley and Leicester to be on equal points come the last game. Since then, Villa have taken 6 points that I had down to get two from. I think we'll be safe and Burnley and Leicester will scrap for that last relegation spot.
It's nice to see 4 attacking players in the starting line up. Look at all the better teams in the league and they pretty much all play with 4 attacking players.
Come on you Villa boys!!
I was born a few streets away from the Mecca of football that is Villa Park. I lived there for the first 3 years of my life until my parents moved to around 2.25 miles away as the crow flies. I now live around 8 miles away but, I work a 15 minute walk away from the stadium.
I've always preferred to go on the opening day as the buzz for that first race is just amazing. I've been to Wembley 4 times in my life and for atmosphere I think Cheltenham is right up there, if not better. It's just an absolutely brilliant occasion and everyone has a great time, even if you lose on the horses!
A few of years ago I watched Henderson clean up with the likes of Simonsig, Sprinter Sacre, Bob's Worth and Riverside Theatre. What the hell happened? They looked nailed on to go back and follow up a year later but it never happened.
I have a feeling that Jezki will win the Champion Hurdle again. I'm not a fan of the horse really but just have a feeling that this horse likes a battle and better racing ground than they get in Ireland. He's lost all his races to Hurricane Fly this season but I think the tables will be turned on the big day. I know Faugheen is the new big thing from Mullins, and The New One is a course specialist now but, for me, Jezki will take all the beating on good racing ground.
Wish I was going but can't make it this year so will watch the races at work.
I'll be backing Edeymi in the Pertemps final, Activial in the Coral cup and Attaglance in the Stable plate. Currently around 8s,10s & 16s so roughly a 1683/1 treble. Each way that's around a 52.5/1 treble - I think! !
I think he's done a lot better than I expected and he's got a few goals already. Imagine what he will be like once he's settled in properly.
I hope we can make it a permanent deal based on what I've seen from him so far.
Gabby looks 1970s porn star. Delph looks like he's about to enter a Mr Universe contest for the vertically challenged and, Sanchez looks like a member of the Jackson Five!
