If we get 28 net for Benteke, 8 for Wealth and, 2.5 for Weimann. Plus, a couple of million for stragglers, that would give us around 40 million to spend. We've done approximately 18.5 Mill at the moment so we would still have around 21.5 million to spend. With that amount to spend I can see Adebayor on a free, a main striker for around 15 million plus another couple of cheap purchases.

Makes you wonder though when you're linked to Gueye and snags over work permit then he signs on the day it looks like Delph - sorry, I meant word removed - is supposed to leave. Then, you're supposed to be signing this young lad all week and the deal is sealed the day after word removed has left. No wonder I'm a conspiracy theorist!

It was interesting to hear Collymore's thoughts on the Delph deal. He was right in questioning the thought process whereby we accept a deal with a get out clause so low that the likes of West Ham or Everton could easily have met. He goes on to say he offered to help the club out. Didn't hear whether they accepted or not. I think he was right in saying we need more Villa men at the club.

I think we will go down that route of having Adebayor on loan as his wages will basically be what we've freed up by offloading Bent and Weimann. But, I'd want another main striker bought with the Benteke money, if he goes.

I'd like us to try for Remy to replace Benteke, if/when he goes. He's got experience of the league and I think we'll need that with so many new and inexperienced players potentially coming in. We all need to remind ourselves what Sherwood said last week, that we need to sell to buy further. If true, you could argue that the Delph money goes on Amavi. If nobody wants Benteke, does that mean we have to go with what we've got plus Amavi? Would that be enough? Even if Amavi was already accounted for before Delph left, it would only give us 8m more to spend.

I don't think they will see doubling their wages as failure, even if earn it by sitting on their arses.

Liverpool fans are going to stop this deal from happening. The only other apparent suitors are supposedly Man United but I don't believe that. I reckon someone's trying to force Liverpool's hand in order to get this over and done with. Unless he goes abroad, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts next season as a Villa player.
