  1. On SSN this morning they said they had heard that Berbatov was in Birmingham and asked if he was about to join the Villa. I guess the feeling all along was that he was the other option should the Adebayor deal fall through. Not very inspiring if true. You would have to ask how he could possibly keep up with our attackers with his obvious lack of pace. May be nothing more in it than SSN trying to garner some interest from Villa fans today. Let's see.
  2. I'm trying to sign him for my 5-a-side team, we need a new post. If you can afford his wages I'll be interested in the role. Hey? You want him to pay N'Zogbia whilst you get balls kicked at you - that's pretty messed up dude.
  3. I did try to tell people when figures like £20m net spend were being banded around. So TV, how much net spend do you envisage for us this summer transfer window?
  4. He made a great run off his marker in the second half but Gestede over-hit an easy pass to him and it ran through to the keeper. Imagine him playing centre forward making runs like that with Traore out wide right, Grealish wide left and Gil threading through-balls for him to run on to. I think that front four, with Veretout and Gana behind, would destroy teams.
  5. Shocking for the second goal. I am seriously beginning to think that last season was nothing more than him trying his hardest to earn a new deal with us. I hope I'm wrong but I'll take a lot of convincing.
  6. The fact is, AT THE MOMENT, we look like we're going to badly miss Benteke's goals. Gestede looks miles away from him in terms of overall ability. In fact, those words of Sherwood's where he said that Liverpool don't play to Benteke's style by not crossing as much, well, they could come back to haunt him because Gestede looks like a one dimensional striker who thrives only on decent crosses. I think we need a striker. I thought we'd be OK a week or so ago but I had a re-think today and concluded that those we have do not look good enough for double figures. Although, playing Sinclair there might prove to be more beneficial to the team.
  7. I've defended him until now but I personally thought he was to blame for the first and maybe questionable on the second.
  8. He took too long to take off Bacuna and Gestede should have been taken off at some point.
  9. Good points made there! TS said himself that the team was set up too open in the cup game and that he wouldn't leave us that exposed in a league game. He said he felt that he had to do it because of players needing game time and I agree with him for doing it.
  10. Because I asked if anyone would take him for 24M and suddenly that means we've made a bid! You mean that we haven't? Richard out!
  11. Berahino won't come to us because we wouldn't pay that sort of price for one player with our financial state. Unless, a takeover is in place and it's all being kept hush hush to avoid paying inflated prices? You know, that conspiracy theory that comes around every transfer window.
  12. The incest police will need to be out that night. Bound to be some inter-bred knuckledraggers in the away end.
  13. My good friend - also a Villa fan - lives in Preston. He called me tonight to ask about where he could watch the game online. His final Villa related words to me were "we've gotta win tonight because I've got a feeling we'll get the blues in the next round". Get in there! Message to Timmy; don't go playing a weakened side against the scum. Get the big boys in and annihilate the bastards.
  14. Listening to the baggies struggling whilst watching Villa's comeback on SSN is pretty good to be fair. A bit like experiencing a multimedia version of the Beauty and the beast lol.
  15. Did Colin Fry get in touch with you or something?
  16. Get in there! Sinclair should be playing down the middle instead of Gabby.
  17. I would take going out tonight if it meant Traore being OK. That kid is going to be a star for us so let's hope it's not a serious injury.
  18. Do you mean in a Timmy facial stylee or with an actual gun?
  19. What!?! Why do people bother posting this shit still!? Anyway, I wonder whether this will follow the pattern of most of our other transfers this summer: - Reports of our interest break out in foreign media - Lots of our fans state that they just cannot see it happening. - Reports and speculation increases and people start to believe it's happening. - It becomes entirely clear that it will happen. - It then goes quite for a day or two causing cries of "Nah this isn't happening!" and "Typical Villa to **** this one up" - Reports suggest another club is in for the player causing mass panic and knicker wetting. - Players signs and widespread group masturbation breaks out. I was with ya all the way dude but you missed out the key element that seals the deal - the Timmy facial!
  20. Well, I've not been 100% on the money I mean I believe Delph would stay right up until the day he went based on what I was told but I've not done bad. Unless Berbatov did sign and I missed it As for the rest of the window, Lescott will sign I'm pretty sure of that, I still think there is a chance the Adebayor thing could be revived but we do seem to have competition from West Ham now. After that I think it will depend almost entirely on departures there are a number of players that aren't wanted and a few others who would be allowed to go in the right circumstances. Personally I still think we need the following to give us the balance we need. Next to no chance of getting all 4 I'd say though. I just really hope we can shift a few quickly. GK RB CB CF I don't think we would look at getting another right back in with having Hutton, Bacuna, Crespo and, potentially, Richards who can play there? Even if Hutton was allowed to leave, I couldn't see Sherwood looking at replacing in that position. You seem pretty certain about Lescott so I guess that would more than likely happen, particularly as we have been heavily linked with him recently. I am not overly concerned about a 'keeper but wouldn't mind a first choice coming in if we could get one. I guess the striker situation now takes on more importance with our lack of back-up. I was thinking that Kozak might be the one to challenge for the main striker role with Gestede but it now looks like he could go. I wouldn't fancy seeing gabby playing there on a regular basis and Ayew looks way off that level yet. Unless Gestede can stay fit and firing on all cylinders, I could definitely see us looking at getting another striker in if we lose Kozak.
  21. It will be a shame to see Libor go without being given a real chance to show what he can do in the first team. But, like many have said, this would be a great move for him personally. He will be able to score goals for fun up there and also get to play Champions League at some stage, probably. Whatever he chooses to do, I wish him the best of luck
  22. Linked to him with many media outlets, this being one of them: http://Adem Ljajic I must admit that when I saw the headline on the SSN site - "Villa open talks with Ljajic" - I thought David Villa was looking to join a new Serbian club or something.
  23. We all need to remember that Sherwood is new to this game too. He is now managing a squad that has been ripped apart and that will take time to gel. The club is in yet another transitional period - even the backroom staff have changed! - and needs time. We gave it to Lambert and we need to also give it to Sherwood. in fact, I would argue that Sherwood deserves it even more than Lambert given the fact he (Lambert) had been a well established manager before he came here! I wrote off the first 8-10 games of this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see us in the bottom three after 8, 10 or even 12 games but, given time and with the fans remaining calm and patient (a lot to ask, I know!), I believe that we will see a much better team in the last two thirds of the season, when everyone has gelled and settled down.
  24. It's 18m Tunisian Dinar - so around £6m at today's exchange rate
  25. Reading back over the last few pages it seems like a few fans have become philosophical about the club. For me personally, supporting the Villa leaves me feeling similar to the way I feel about my relationship. There are days when my missus really does my head in and I feel like I could simply give up and not bother with her anymore. Then, there's days when everything is great between us and nothing can compare to how good I am feeling at that moment. Despite the ups and downs there's always that one thing that remains - I love her. No matter what she says or does, there's just no living without her and that pretty much sums up the way I feel about the Villa. There's days when you wished you didn't put yourself through it and then there's days when you feel amazing but, no matter what feeling, you just cannot stop supporting them and your love of the club is never-ending. Staying on topic, I hope there's more money to spend on the team. I do think we need another centre back, if not to start, at least to put pressure on the starters. I think previous seasons have shown that Baker is not up to the level required. I wasn't overly impressed by Okore last season. I really wanted to be impressed because he looked so good in the few games he played the season before. But, for me, he made far too many errors when given his chance last season. I'm not writing him off though! Clark could be great like last season or atrocious like the seasons before, who knows? Richards scares me when he comes running out of defence with the ball. Okore likes to do that too and I fear them ever being partnered together because we may end up with no back line. For me, a central defender who is better than both Okore and Baker, possibly even Clark, is essential. I am not overly concerned about the strikers. I think we just need to improve the service into Gestede. He needs to get on the end of crosses and he didn't have too many, if any, to go for on Saturday. He doesn't look too good with his back to goal so we will need to get the ball out wide and whip in some crosses for the big man to get on the end of. Gabby is wasteful in front of goal and probably needs to become an impact sub in future. I wouldn't mind switching between Gestede and Kozak depending on form. Ayew has time to improve and we still haven't seen Sinclair given chance down the middle yet. He's a goalscorer so maybe he could thrive if given a chance in that position. I think we will be OK when Jack and Amavi build an understanding down the left and Traore and probably Crespo get an understanding going down the right. I am sure we will see more goals when we start hitting the bye-line more often. The midfield will be OK too, we just need to find the right balance.
