  1. Here's a question to throw out to other Villans; say we lose to Swansea and Sherwood gets the sack, how long would you give the next man in charge? I mean, what if after 25 games we are on say 14-16 points, would you blame Sherwood for the slow start or would you blame the likes of Fox, Reilly, and Almstadt for their summer dealings? My point is, the next man may not be able to save us either and with 28 games to go and 84 points to play for, we certainly should not be beyond saving.
  2. I am going to sit on the fence regarding Sherwood as I have said from the start of the season that he will need a certain amount of games to get to know his best team. I personally would like him to get that time and see where we are then but, I also don't see why the club are sticking with him if they gave him just two games to save his job. They might just as well sack him and get in someone new. I have a question for you though. If Swansea turn Villa over at the weekend, would you still see Sherwood as a better option than Monk? No hidden agenda behind my question, I am just wondering if a defeat would change your opinion.
  3. If we were playing better football, with our manager looking like he knows what he is doing, I would say that your proposed points return would be achievable. But, the way we are right now, I wouldn't back us to win any of those bar Norwich at home. I actually think the current trending performance from Villa would see us take a maximum of 9 points from the above fixtures. I totally agree with you though, we are going to need a return of those proportions if we are to have any chance of staying up this season.
  4. We will soon see what Lerner is up to when the new TV money becomes available. I bet it doesn't go to the playing side of AVFC!
  5. The more I think about it the more I can see the circus clowns in charge giving the job to Nigel Pearson. He's free to get and they will see his achievement of keeping Leicester up last season as just what we need, because we'll be bottom of the league when they make the decision to sack Sherwood.
  6. We will get a maximum of 6 points from the next 6 games. We will be bottom of the table after those games. My prediction is that Sherwood will go any time between now and then and will be replaced with a relatively cheap option. I just hope that the likes of Pearson and Holloway have full time jobs by then.
  7. I was happy when I saw that Wilkins had joined. I thought he might help our midfield look better but there's not much, if any, difference at all. However, this could be down to team selection as I am keen to see a midfield trio of either Sanchez, Gana, Gil or Sanchez, Gana, Veretout. I would even take Sanchez, Gana and Traore but feel that Traore would be best suited of wide right with Grealish wide left. I want to see us playing with a fresh looking midfield.
  8. Ray, I'm just pissed off with seeing my team lose week after week. Nothing personal meant, just pure frustration at how bad my club has become.
  9. Post deleted for being so shite.
  10. Randolph Lerner I just want it to be known that I despise you for what you have done to the football club that I love. Aston Villa Football Club is a wreck right now. God only knows the depths to which we will sink under your ownership. When you finally get your wish and sell this famous club, I hope the shame of what you leave behind haunts you forever. IF you are a genuine fan, something that is very questionable, you should feel ashamed.
  11. Randy Lerner will hold the unwanted tag of being the first man to oversee Aston Villa's relegation from the Premier League. That is all he will achieve here.
  12. A lot of fans think we'll go down this season anyway so ask yourselves this; would you rather Moyes, Sherwood or some other manager try to bring us back up?
  13. Bournemouth will struggle without the likes of Wilson, Gradel and Mings but you would expect them to buy replacements in January. Therefore, we need to get as far ahead of them as possible by then. I'm not sure Sam can work a miracle at Sunderland so we need to stay ahead of them too. A new manager would give us more chance of that.
  14. Shit again and shouldn't be playing. I'd rather see Hutton at CB than this lad. Sorry but he's just past it.
  15. Guzan gets moaned at for kicking the ball aimlessly down the pitch and then gets blamed again for throwing a ball out to someone who shows the ball control of a blind man with prosthetic limbs and a leather allergy. FFS, that was Lescott's mistake all day long. Other than the calamity of the goal, we could be in front. Hutton should have done better when he got into the box. He made the wrong choice and should have tried to find a teammate in the area. Mourinho took a gamble on us being shite with his team selection and we're making him look good for it.
  16. WTF am I reading on here? Guzan threw the ball to a man who lacked a basic HUMAN attribute of being able to stop it with his foot. My 2 year old son can stop a ball with his foot FFS!
  17. I would definitely play someone pacey down the middle as we have always had success by playing pace against Terry and Cahill. I think I'd play Traore behind Gestede and play Ayew wide right with Grealish wide left. I think that we have to have Sanchez and Gana in front of the back four because we need competitors in the middle of the park, not lightweights such as Westwood. I would start with this team: -------------------Guzan----------------- Hutton--Richards--Crespo--Amavi ------------Gana-------Sanchez------------ Ayew----------Traore---------Grealish ------------------Gestede--------------------- It gives us a solid middle 4 look at the back and a mix of power and pace up front.
  18. Chelsea couldn't have wished for an easier fixture today. For me, it will either be a 3-5 goal defeat with Villa not getting a sniff of a goal or, we will sneak a win and get the special one fired again.
  19. I was having a quick browse through this thread and actually read that last post as "Tim Sherwood, am I crap?" Which, followed by all of the other stuff about him referring to himself, actually made me think he was questioning his own ability. But, then I got back to reality when I read what he said today about how he will turn it around and the fans will be singing his name again in 3 weeks
  20. I'm shocked at you questioning the judgement and views of a man with such knowledge. Just because he thought that Villa would finish top four the season after losing Young and Milner it doesn't mean he doesn't know his football.....I mean soccer.
  21. I don't think the board would be expecting too much from the Chelsea game, even if Chelsea are not exactly on fire themselves. But, I would bet that they are looking for some encouraging signs such as: better team organisation, a decent display, for us not to get a severe beating or be totally outplayed. I think the only way Sherwood could lose his job before the Swansea game is if we get beaten on Saturday by 4+ goals or, we lose by less than that but have looked totally clueless.
  22. We have already tried the Dutch style in 2011/12 Yes, but you need a dutchman as manager for it to work. Danny Blind is Dutch and will probably be available shortly, would you want him? Dick Advocaat is free Unfortunately, this begs a question; would you rather take Dick or go Blind? I'd rather keep Sherwood or go back to the Lambert or McLeish days if they were our only options

  24. TRO, I hear what you're saying regards Fergie. A manager does need time to work his magic usually but, these days, there doesn't seem to be much time afforded because time stands still for nobody, especially in football and the Premier League in particular. The reason being; money! There is so much money around nowadays and if you don't spend enough of it you simply get left behind. This is proving to be the biggest problem at the Villa and came to light as soon as the Milner money wasn't given to MON. Since then, this club has lost best player after best player and when that happens you simply keep having to start again. It's not so bad if you do it the way Southampton did and get huge money for little investment and then spend that wisely on quality players. But, our money has largely gone back into paying back the loan and the huge wage bill. We lost two quality players this summer. I think we can probably have better replacements for Delph but Benteke is going to be difficult to replace. Having said that, if we were to get the right team on to the pitch, with the right tactics, maybe we can get the ball into the right areas for Gestede to make Benteke a distant memory, who knows? Villa stopped growing when the money stopped going in. Gradually, with less and less investment, the club has gone into decline and the table shows it. We spent a lot of money in the summer but we also lost a lot of quality, if only in 2 or 3 players. Our hopes are now pinned on finding a new manager who can get the best out of the players that we now have. There should be little or no allegiance to Sherwood from the players, if the rumours of unrest and transfer dealings are to be believed. We now have to trust the powers that be to make the right decision for our beloved club. It's getting to the point for me where I am beginning to not care if we stay up or go down. I believe that whilst we are a Premier League side with this owner we will continually be experiencing groundhog day. At least if we went down we would have a possibly achievable target of promotion at the start of each season. Who knows, we might just see some winning football too!
  25. I would love nothing more than for Villa to win this weekend and get poor old special one the sack, again!
