  1. With the way we went dow, and having only brought in three uninspiring players, Holloway won't be the last pundit to predict a struggle for the Villa this season. My fear is that we start off well, get past the window closure then struggle until it opens again.
  2. Inspirational quotes from their own fans failed to fire up the players for the cup final two seasons ago. Let's hope a failed player/manager's quote works!
  3. Are there any fans who trust Tony Xia 100%? Just asking.
  4. For me personally, if we don't integrate another 3 or 4 decent new players into that squad before the end of the window, we won't be challenging for automatic promotion. The way in which we went down was truly demoralising and if those existing players had any care or concern - maybe even ability - at all they wouldn't have gone down without a fight, like they did. They would have tried to regain some self respect from their peers and their fans. They just didn't seem capable of that basic thing and that's what worries me about depending on the majority of that same squad to try to take us straight back up. I know we have a new owner and management team but we are hoping for a really dramatic turnaround from that squad and I'm just not sure they are capable of doing it. Safe to say that I'm hoping for further signings before the end of August.
  5. Cheers for all the best wishes folks, I really appreciate them They say time is a healer and, after what my family has been through, I certainly hope that is true! Having a decent Villa side to watch and cheer on would be helpful. Let's hope they can bring some decent additions into the club and really go for it this season.
  6. Cheers folks Mum had it bad with illness. Lung and breast cancer and advanced emphysema but she battled on for a couple of years in the face of being terminally ill. Mum's a Villa fan and used to tell me how she stood on the Holte End against Man Utd cheering in the lads when about 8 months pregnant with me and Dad protecting her from being squashed against the old barriers in the Holte. Fans of the show probably won't believe this but, my family are like the real Simpsons. My Mum had a brother called Bartholomew (my uncle Bart), a niece named Lisa (my cousin) and a sister-in-law named Maggie. We're only missing Homer!
  7. Everytime I see those Simpson clips it makes me sad. My Mum passed away last week, her name is Marj Simpson .
  8. That keeper looks a good shot stopper but the video shows nothing of his distribution or how he deals with crosses, so it's difficult to make a judgement overall.
  9. Typical of Clark. He is shite and I hope he joins Richards and Lescott out the exit door.
  10. Woy is a pwat for picking Waheem again. That kid lost any form he had when joining Man City. He showed enough to get his big move and is now an overpaid show pony who will follow Wright-Phillips into being a benchwarmer. Vardy and Rashford out wide with Rooney sitting deeper so Alli can play behind Kane. Attack like crazy because those Welsh players are average.
  11. I think that Dr Tony is forgetting that Villa have already been spoken about in the same circles as Real and Barca this season, when Bacuna was being linked to each of them!
  12. That'll leave us having to pay someone to take him off our hands then!
  13. By Hook or by Cook, Dr Xia will take over the mighty Villans.
  14. Dr Xia's management team on the football side seems to show he's serious about getting us back up and being a successful Premier League club again. Let's hope his management team on the business side is as good.
  15. Sky shows a lot of Championship games and if Villa are doing well you can guarantee they will get a lot of coverage. All you need is a tiny little river (d'ya get it?) to watch them on.
  16. I can definitely confirm that Clarke is a number 2! He's ben shit for years now and I cannot believe he's been able to keep a place at this cub for so long. Oooooooooooooooh you meant Steve Clarke! Welcome Roberto, do well for us and I'll forgive you that goal in the 2000 Cup Final!
  17. Calling him a nag is a bit harsh, he was voted player of the season!
  18. So, if true, Di Matteo is turning down the club that finished 8th in the top league of his native country to manage the club that finished bottom of the top English league and will next season play in the second tier of English football. Interesting. Wonder what made him make that decision?
  19. I think that the good man was probably taking the piss (being sarcastic) out of the press with that question. No need to thank me for the correction mate, your English is a billion times better than my Chinese
  20. I think the underlined part is meant to say "can anyone tell me", which would make more sense in terms of the remainder of that passage of text. Thanks for the insight though mate, it seems like Dr Xia has readied himself for the shite written in the British press.
  21. ^^^ If said story is true we will be royally fooked next season ^^^
  22. The last four managers of this football club reads very unpleasantly. I'd like to read about a Villa manager where the name alone doesn't make me cringe: Pearson, Bruce, Mccarthy, Di Matteo = I know which one of those makes me cringe the least.
  23. I'm not sure who is or isn't a good manager or fit for Villa these days. So, let's just support our manager and give him ENOUGH Time to see what he can do before making judgement.
  24. Depends who you buy! We spent that to build a team that is now in the championship and whom we mostly all think will struggle. Out of interest, I took a look at what Derby did after they got relegated from the PL with the lowest points total. They changed 16 players and finished their first season back in the Championship in 18th place - 8 points from relegation. Just goes to show how careful we need to be with this summers decisions.
