  1. I have this feeling that we won't be able to push deals over the line in this window and therefore Bruce will just try to improve what we've got, not be able to, finish around mid-table and be sacked in the summer. If we can't improve, once those play-offs are out of reach, the season will just tail-off and the players will start thinking of their holidays. The very thought of the above bothers me greatly so I am really hoping that we manage to secure a few necessary deals and make a go of it for the play-offs.
  2. I want Bruce to get the players in that he wants and not because we're just putting numbers in, like he says. Then, if it all goes pear-shaped, he'll have nobody else to blame. I have always backed him since he came to the club, and winning games and improving results sure helped his cause but, I do wonder if he has a style of play. I guess we will only know when he gets all his own players in and has a squad he's happy with. However, based in performances since he's been here, I do wonder whether there is a style that he has in mind for us. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt because of the players he's inherited though.
  3. Being foreign didn't stop Karanka or Sanchez-Flores from getting promoted although, others have been hit and miss. What we need is someone who plays a certain style and to buy the players who can comfortably play that way instead of just having a big glut of players, all with differing styles, that we just try to make click. Square pegs in round holes etc.
  4. So who will fill in at left back once Cissokho complete his loan move to Olympiakos?
  5. Without at least 4 more signings this window you can forget the play offs.
  6. He's a show pony. No quality or end product. The kid appears to be talented but he needs to apply himself more.
  7. I like the honesty that Bruce dishes out after games. He tells it how it is and see what we see. He's even had a go about McCormack not taking that chance and mentioned the fact that the defending down our left side wasn't good enough for the Wolves goal. I like that. What I don't like is the fact he says that we don't have it in us to chase a game and that we are not creative enough in the final third etc but, he's not looking at surgery in the transfer window as we've gone down that route before and it hasn't worked. He said we will go with what we've got and he'll try to improve them. For me, that's a task too far and if he goes ahead with that plan he might well find himself replaced in the summer.
  8. McCormack has been dreadful today. Looks like a Sunday league pub player still trying to come to terms with not being able to shit out last night's post-club Kebab meat and chips before the game.
  9. Amavi has been utter shite since that £25m transfer comment. Maybe that's one twitter post that Dr Tony shouldn't have made?
  10. The problems are clear to see. Wolves are just strolling through our midfield. Mason jogged forward between Jedinak and Tshibola as if he was invisible. I'm convinced we won't see a decent performance from Tshibola again until someone pronounces his name right. I actually think that we will be soundly beaten tonight. Could be 3 or 4 nil to them as I can't see us lot scoring.
  11. Wolves are better than they were when we played that at Villa Park, and they were the better team in that game. Also, Lambert's going to get them fired up for that one, as he did us whenever we played Norwich. Because of that I can only see a defeat for us. Wolves to win 2-0 or 3-1
  12. That Elton John interview, from a few pages back, just shows what a great man Graham Taylor was. For a club chairman to talk like that about the man who took his club to its highest heights and then want to leave is testament to Graham for how hard he worked and the fantastic job he did at Watford. On top of that, Elton John actually predicts that Graham would make Villa a top club again and how right he was. It's such a shame that we had such a crap owner at the time!
  13. I love this post! Absolutely spot on Xela mate
  14. I would have preferred this lad as number two than Bunn but I guess he wants to play regularly and doesn't see that happening at Villa. Let's hope we do some serious scouting to bring a decent keeper (or 2?) into the club in the summer.
  15. A certain person at Barnsley FC represented Stuart Hall in his trial where he was accused of indecently assaulting 13 girls. His lawyer's skills got him off with just a 15 month jail term. So, people at the top at Barnsley can negotiate unbelievably well when it suits them although, in that trial I would argue that he negotiated far too well!
  16. Too right! A million to the club for the player but how much going into back pockets?
  17. That Hourihane bid from Sheffield Wednesday must be bull as he's got far more value to him than that. Seriously, if he goes to one of their local rivals for within 2M of that I will be wondering what we're playing at. Hourihane seems a no-brainer after the season he's had so far.
  18. Did you say "no Graham, I think yours is following mine"
  19. I am gutted at this news. I remember great memories from his first spell in charge and had loads of fun supporting the Villa back then. Always seemed like a gent but with a cutting edge to him too. I remember something on the radio where he gave an interview about players' injuries and said that he believed that a lot of players think they are injured when they actually aren't. He seemed to be a deep-thinker about the sport. He had Villa playing some great football in that first management spell. What a shame for him and his family. RIP Graham and thanks for all the happy memories you left us with.
  20. So, a great result would be to get a further four players in this window? CM x2, RB and? Striker, another midfielder, possibly left-midfield or maybe another centre back? At least this shows they are trying to add to what we have and suggest that they know this current set up just isn't good enough.
  21. I would like to be back in the Premier League and challenging up near the top with a team to watch that is full of fighters and who I can be proud to support. I would like that but I think we will be more like nearing the rebuilding stage and be somewhere mid-table and with a complete new squad that is still trying to settle.
  22. Hutton v Bree pfft, they're like chalk and cheese!
  23. I had the misfortune of being sat behind Ian Ormondroyd in the stands at Barnsley once. I think he was injured at the time and was watching the game fromt he stands and he was that tall I kept having to sway left and right to see the game!
  24. We don't have too many strikers - we have too many SHIT strikers!
