  1. That's very true but, if he doesn't improve us, that's a lot of money to have gambled with. Maybe it is just me but I like to gamble on safer bets.
  2. This Hogan deal, if true, is one hell of a gamble for someone with just one previous full season of Championship football to his name. I hope it pays off - if true!
  3. Not too sure about this deal. I don't know much about the lad so it's difficult to comment on him but from what I have read I am confused. Some say that Hogan is more mobile than Rhodes but then Rhodes has proven his ability to score at this level time and time again - scoring 91 goals in his last 187 Championship appearances, whereas Hogan has had one season of scoring prolifically at this level to his name. Also, with our new midfielders taking pot shots at goal we will need someone in and around the box to pick up the pieces and that's where Rhodes might just be, in the right place at the right time. There's only 2 years difference in age and for the money being mentioned I am not sure that we should spend it on someone who has had one really good season at this level when we could get a player for less that has had four or five really good seasons at this level. I suppose we simply have to trust that the management team make the right decision.
  4. Let's see how he plays for the Villa before we judge him.
  5. There might be something in the Shane Long stuff because Southampton are showing interest in some Italian called Gabbiadini.
  6. I'll probably be slaughtered for this but I won't be overwhelmed if it is Shane Long. Yeah, he works his socks off but his scoring record is not great.
  7. Callum Wilson? Scrub that, Howe says he's going nowhere. However, being "reported" that Crystal Palace and another Championship club contacted Brentford about Scott Hogan over the weekend. Maybe we are willing to offer more for him than West Ham and Palace?
  8. I'll throw my guesses out there to laugh at later - Ayew to Swansea in exchange for Taylor plus cash. Rhodes in. Bedeau in (one for the future and possibly loaned straight back to Bury) Player not mentioned (according to Brucey) yet to be a centre back to cover/pressure for Baker and Chester - any guesses who this could be? Wouldn't be surprised if it's a Premier League centre back who gets no regular game time as both Chester and Elphick fit that profile before joining us.
  9. My thoughts exactly! Taylor coming in does not have to mean an end to Amavi's Villa career. Think about how we have no cover at left back and yet Amavi isn't the best left back when it comes to defending. Also, Villa not particularly linked with signing a left sided midfielder. I reckon we will see Amavi playing left midfield with Taylor at left back.
  10. Richards, Westwood, Hutton, Bacuna, Kozak, Gabby, Bunn, Gardner, in no particular order, need to be shipped out.
  11. Rongtian Ho (He?) is here to be Tony's eyes and ears when our owner is not around. Alex Bruce could be the gaffer's eyes and ears in the dressing room and on the training pitch. Also, he'd be back-up for any injuries in defence, which we still clearly need. The one thing we lost (that's if we ever had it at all during his reign) when Lerner lost interest was all discipline. If Steve Bruce gets himself someone in that can keep him informed and it helps keep order I'm OK with that.
  12. I think Ayew is more of a goal threat than Grealish but there's no doubting that he simply does not know when to release the ball and often kills our attacks by one of the following: 1) Running into an opposing player. 2) Shooting either wide or at an opposing player. 3) Just over-running the ball and gifting it to an opposing player. He is so frustrating to watch and I believe it was a trait of his when we bought him so he's unlikely to change his ways. For me, Grealish is a better player and is also more open to improvement. Therefore, I'd be happier to see Ayew leave although I'm not sure about the swap option being mentioned as not seen enough of Wheelie Bin to make that judgement.
  13. I hope so but I just can't help feeling he's gotten too big-headed and thinks that he's made it way before he's realised anywhere near his true potential. I hope I'm wrong though because it would be nice for us to develop an England star, which is what he would become if he did reach full potential.
  14. Dave, hypothetically, who do you think would have a bigger impact on our promotion push next season - Grealish or Rhodes?
  15. Hypothetically, if the questioned swap was involving Rhodes and Grealish people have to consider that Grealish has been in the Premier League and hardly set it alight, just as he has failed to set alight the Championship this season. Rhodes is a proven goalscorer at the level we are currently at, even if the Premier League is out of his depth. So, on one hand you have a player that's done nothing at either of the top two levels but has time on his side. On the other hand you have a player who has scored freely at this level. It is easy to assume that, from now until the end of the season, Rhodes would have a bigger impact in this league that Grealish. If that meant promotion and the riches that came with it, it would certainly make for a better financial move for the club.
  16. Sounds like Tony's trying to find himself a new accountant to help him calculate his personal fortune. Don't bother Tone, I'll tell you for free - you're f**king loaded mate!
  17. This transfer window has been the most entertaining part of being a Villa fan since, well, the last transfer window - and it's not even finished with yet! Terrytini, PLEASE stop trying to bring us back into the world of reality.
  18. See it as a challenge for our next signing! #Iamnotitk
  19. Please don't, not after that "amazing" Hourihane signs gif. It would probably be a banner that reads "100% Tommy"
  20. Don't know about you lot but I can't wait to see our next starting line-up
  21. What do you expect? We gotta make way for 2020's world's best midfielder.
