  1. Sack Bruce, get Dean Smith in and give him the money to go and get Jota from Brentford. That's the kind of flair we are looking for.
  2. With Round and Whyness here I would be amazed if Moyes hasn't already been set up to replace Bruce and is currently eyeing up players in case the call is made before the summer transfer window closes. If we lose to Reading it wouldn't surprise me if Moyes is in charge for Saturday's game against Norwich.
  3. Bruce will be under massive pressure tomorrow night. We drew our first game at home yo a relegated club and that could be compared to drawing at home to Newcastle last season. We lost away at Cardiff, just as we did last season but, by a wider margin. We won both of these next two fixtures last season and I think a minimum of 4 points is going to be needed from these next two games to keep his job. Don't know about anyone else but I just can't see that happening. I think he'll be gone by next Monday morning. Xia will want to give any new manager plenty of time to get enough points to take us up. Bruce came in last season and said there was still enough to play for to go up and he failed. Xia will want to give any new manager more games to succeed.
  4. I think Xia's lack of spending this summer could well be down to having one eye on getting a new man in if Bruce gets us off to a slow start. With that in mind, it could well be that Bruce has the next two games to turn the start around or be sacked.
  5. After 6 games he needs to be on 9 points or the warning signs are true strong and he needs to go. He needs 8 points from the next 12 so at least two wins and two draws needed and i cant see that. Maybe one win, a couple of draws and a defeat. That would leave us on 6 points from 18 and that's not enough in this league.
  6. Would he have enough down our flanks now to satisfy his way of playing?
  7. The one very noticeable thing about Villa this season is the number of foreign players at the club. We had one real foreigner in the pitch at the start of yesterday's game and that player - Elmohamady - has played most of his career here. In fact, he could probably get British citizenship he's been here that long. I know that will change when Kodjia and Jedinak return but even the bench yesterday was mainly home grown. Is the lack of non British and Irish players intentional by Bruce or is it pure coincidence? Is the lack of foreign players the reason we are struggling so much? Maybe it's that foreign flair that is the magic ingredient we are missing?
  8. Yesterday's highlights were like a YouTube video of how not to defend because Chester looked abysmal and a million miles from being fit.
  9. I would give Dean Smith a go at it if I was Tony Xia. He's a Villa fan and would share the same ambitions and frustrations as us and would surely produce better football than Bruce and co. I also think the fans would be even more understanding and patient with him, being a fan too. Bruce is going to lose his job because of multiple reasons but it's his own fault when picking the likes of Hutton, Gabby and Bacuna when everyone else knew they are very poor. He's bought Bree and needs to play him. Lansbury is being played all over the park and probably just needs to play goalkeeper now to complete the set. When Bruce makes subs it seems to never be a straight swap and two or three players need to change around - it's odd. We struggled last season whenever Jedinak and Kodjia were missing and absolutely nothing has changed. Get Lansbury out of the team, play O'Hare behind Hogan. Bree needs to play right back. Gabby needs to get out of the team and maybe play Adomah or Elmohamady left wing until Green is fit again.
  10. Sacking him is bad enough without wanting him to get mugged follows by a dose of the shits.
  11. The biggest problem I have with Bruce is that we are just so predictable in everything. I knew we wouldn't win today. I doubt we will win either or our next two either. If the fans feel that way then surely it must be pretty easy for our opponents when facing us? I said he would be gone within 6 - 8 games. If I was Xia I'd be having a really good chat with him on Monday to ask him why nothing has changed from last season. I think he might even sack him if we don't win either of the next two.
  12. I used to play every day of my life as a kid. I then played Sunday league and just knockabout 11-a-side on Sundays when not in a team. I took a few knocks such as doing my ankle ligaments, knee ligaments and also fractured my pelvis. Lost time off work so stopped playing seriously and just stuck to the inter company games at work. About 6 weeks ago me and my missus took our near 4 year old son to the park. We had a little knockabout and it was great until, I was running in on goal and just about to hit a soft enough shot for my nipper to save and look heroic when whoosh, from nowhere my kamikaze missus came flying in, straight over the ball, and nearly snapped my leg in half. It took a month for the swelling to go down and the bruise is still just visible. Thank God she was only wearing trainers and weighs 7 stone nothing. That's why I haven't played football seriously for years now - I'm just jinxed and bound to get injured!
  13. I think Bruce will go with this line up today: Johnstone Hutton Chester Terry Taylor Whelan Hourihane Elmohamady Onomah Gabby Hogan Subs: Steer, Bree, Samba, Lansbury, O'Hare, McCormack & Adomah.
  14. Think we'll lose today. I worry about the creation of chances for us to score goals without Kodjia. Therefore, I'm going to predict a 1-0 win for Cardiff. Please Villa, prove me wrong by stuffing them 3-0
  15. Samba had contrasting halves on Wednesday night. First half he was catastrophic - second half he was immense.
  16. They've got to catch him to hit him! He will be fine and looks like he can handle himself too.
  17. The first couple of games have made me have a re-think about how I would choose my best starting eleven for occasions and we have all players fit or as we are now: Now: Johnstone or Steer Bree Chester Terry Taylor Whelan Onomah Elmohamady O'Hare Green Hogan Subs: Steer or Johnstone, De Laet, Samba, Gabby, Lansbury, Adomah, Bjarnasson. All Fit = Replace Hogan with Kodjia in the starting line-up. Hogan replaces Gabby on the bench. Jedinak replaces Samba. I think that gives us a good mix of youth and experience throughout the team.
  18. Thor had very little time playing in his natural position before he got injured so hard to judge how good he could be. Since returning from his injury he's had one real game playing against lower league opposition, on a swimming pool, playing out of position. I'd rather we wait to see how Thor plays when he's had a considerable amount of game time playing in his true position before labelling him as a failure. On the other hand, Bacuna has had plenty of game time and proven he is rubbish so can't wait to see him leave.
  19. He needs to be straight into the first team but not pushed out to the wings. He is perfect for the number 10 role and could be the playmaker we've searched for and needed for so long. He's got it all it seems and performances like that will make him our most valuable player.
  20. I'd rather see O'Hare played at centre forward because he's a lot more mobile.
  21. No left back but did a lot better when pushed further forward.
  22. Quality player who will only get better. Just need a better defensive player to sit deeper whilst he works his magic.
  23. This lad was superbly confident with his passing, showing for the ball, dropping deep to get the ball and run at players, trying little flicks etc. I'd have no problem with Bruce playing him behind the striker for the rest of the season. Well played Callum!
