  1. Not if the clueless manager had gone for Jota instead of getting in Elmohamady and Snodgrass!
  2. With Bruce on holiday in Portugal, is it really likely for us to sign anyone else?
  3. Totally agree with you mate. Jota is exactly the kind of player we need and is a steal at £6m. Would have preferred him to Elmohamady and Snodgrass any day.
  4. Hey Tony, Grasshopper and the Brouters (great band name?) want to know if Bruce is in Portugal completing a new CV for near future job applications? Or, is he scouting future talent?
  5. It makes you wonder whether it is FFP or PRC that has halted our spending!
  6. I've been locked up in a Chinese prison for threatening to walk away from the Villa soon - Up The Villa!
  7. Surely not wide right or behind the striker so he must have brought him here to play wide left, which he didn't like playing? Is this right or a wind up?
  8. @TRO what did you make of the way Bruce lined us up for the first half at Bristol City? Surely you must have been as baffled as everyone else at that selection and formation? You must surely agree that, quite often now, Bruce has set himself up to be a target for criticism from the fans?
  9. A five at the back would/could have worked if they didn't play as a flat back five. It's supposed to be three at the back with the wide two bombing forward and that could well have worked if they did so. Maybe they were told to stay flat (Bruce's failure) or bomb forward (players' failure) who knows? I wasn't happy with the line up until I'd convinced myself it must be a back four with Chester at right back because of injuries in that department. However, once the game started and we played that flat back five I was screaming for him to change it because it killed any hope of us being an attacking threat. He changed it at half time and the second half showed enough attacking threat from us to make me believe that, had we played that way from the beginning, we probably would have won that game. Bruce has to take responsibility for that. He simply has to stop being so defensive if he wants to continue in this job. If he doesn't make us more attacking, he certainly won't gain enough points to even trouble the play-offs.
  10. His signing scares me to be honest. Bruce said "he can play left, right or off the striker". Ahead of Green, Elmohamady or Hourihane? He better be good to do that!
  11. At the end of the game I asked my brother if Whelan was playing, that's how anonymous he became.
  12. I think tonight's starting line-up showed that Bruce was trying to preserve this current unbeaten run. However, the teams that win most, attack most. We need to stop being so preservative. If Bruce doesn't set us up to attack from the start of games he will soon be out of a job. Like we've said before, to gain automatic promotion we need to be aiming for 2 points per game. We are on half of where we should be at and that itself isn't good enough. However, win the next 4 games and we're 17 points from 27 and, one point off the two per game needed. It is possible guys and I think we need to see what happens in the next two or three games. Brucey, for God's sake man, stop playing five at the back. Keep to a formation (433) and main starting eleven and then, maybe then, you will see continuity and players growing stronger and becoming better. Going scared away from home won't help. You have the fans support in the stadium so use it and go at teams, disregarding their home "advantage.
  13. Brucey, the way to WIN away is to attack and you clearly saw tonight that the way to do that is by playing four at the back - not five! That being said, I was pleased with the energy we showed tonight and really enjoyed watching us play. I thought we were the better team second half and really gave them a game.
  14. Bruce made a brave call in playing Davis up front and he was rewarded with the lad putting in a great performance. They both deserve a lot of credit for that.
  15. I wasn't taking the pee mate, just using your inspiration because I've allowed myself to get down about the Villa too much lately. All I ask of Bruce now is for him to let the shackles off the team and use the old adage that if they are good enough then they are old enough. Like you, I think we have some exciting young prospects and I am hoping they are given chance to shine and improve.
  16. Using TRO's inspirational quotes I hereby declare that I think Bruce has found the secret formula to the Villa and we will now go on to tear every team in this league a new arsehole whilst proclaiming that our youth are the best young players ever to be seen, Conor Hourihane will be leading goalscorer in the league, Bruce will win manager of the season and, John Terry will stay on to Captain us in the Premier League next season AND want to play both games against Chelsea!
  17. It's good that he sees a way forward for the Villa with gelling the kids and bringing them through but still wants to support the manager in his decision. There's nothing wrong with that IMO.
  18. He is just not good enough and there's often very little end product after he's run the length of the pitch and left us totally exposed down our right side. It is definitely time to stop picking him and play either De Laet or Bree.
  19. All over the place - if they have Sky Sports Main Event
  20. If we don't score 4 - Bruce out! Even if we lose 10-4 I am ok with it as long as we score 4. It's always been my favourite number and now I feel spoilt.
  21. How about this? Four goals, we only score four goals.... Or We want four, we want four......
  22. Maybe Bruce has stumbled on the recipe for success with this bunch - competition for places! Bruce replaced a team that scores 4 and gets another 4 goal performance from a different set of players. Davis had a blinder Saturday and Hogan suddenly finds goals. Green nets and then so does Bjarnasson. That's 6 goals from midfielders in two games - about f**king time they chipped in. Let's hope this continues in the league now and the lads go on a really strong run. If they win a load of games in a row, opposing teams will show up on match days shitting themselves. Brucey, I'm not shy in voicing negativity when we lose so - well done tonight. It was brave to change a whole team but you did it and it paid off
  23. I wanted Bruce gone before the Norwich game but I am quite open to switching my view to him staying - all he has to do is keep winning! Not much to ask, is it?
