  1. Sounds like McCormack needed hanging out, to dry out!
  2. A jigsaw could have a beautiful scene but without that final missing piece it looks a mess. You could have a beautiful car but it' covered in pink spots spray paint it black and it could look awesome. Agnew just seems like the icing on the cake and maybe the reason everything seems rosier is because he has joined?
  3. I think Bruce has mentioned RVP post match so maybe some truth in it? Managers and Directors forget things all the time at my place - it's normal. They have bigger fish to fry and only see the workforce as robots on the whole. Ask him how much Davis contract is worth and I bet he gets that right!
  4. I said after he got injured that maybe it would be a kick up the arse needed for him to realise his potential. Maybe that injury was a blessing in disguise for the lad.
  5. I was gutted at hearing of this today. I have fond memories of going to watch Cyrille play as a teenager. I used to listen to my Dad tell me what a great player he was before he signed for us and I remember him playing for us and thinking what a cracking player he was. RIP mate!
  6. He worked his socks off in that second half. He was chasing from one defender to another to put pressure on the ball coming out of defence. Davis was nowhere near as effective when he came on. As others have said, that was a proper strikers goal. They would look to blame their defenders for ball watching - Hogan did what top finishers do and attacked the ball. When he plays with so much effort it makes me like him a lot and if we were not set up to be so defensive he would score lots more. Hence, at Brentford, he scored frequently.
  7. He added energy to that area of the pitch and helped us drive forward second half. Much better than I expected from him.
  8. It's an impressive stat there's no doubting it.
  9. Can't argue with that although, for me, Chester has been our best defender this season.
  10. Forest were terrible and I'm sure we could have won a lot more comfortably if they hadn't decided to sit back with a plan to protect and counter - which you would expect is pre-planned. Having said the above, the stats mentioned during the game said it all. Since Feb of 2017 Villa have lost 0 and drawn 3 of games we have taken the lead in. Makes sense as to why Lansbury said pre-season we would scrape a lot of one goal victories this season. It probably also explains why we aren't already in the automatic places. Good win for the club and hopefully we can maintain this winning streak.
  11. Whelan off will mean Bruce going even more cautious.
  12. We don't sit deep instincively - it's trained into them. Forest are poor and if we pressed them, as we were doing up until our goal, we would rip these apart. But, clearly the game plan is to score, sit and protect, hit them on the break. Sorry but, I don't agree with it. OK, the stats are good - we lost 0 and drew 3 out of all games we took the lead in since last February - but we could do so much more if going for the throat in this game.
  13. This Forest team is shit and we must win this. No negativity from Bruce please, let them go for the throat ala Bristol City. Even with a shit and very dodgy ref, we should not draw or lose this!
  14. That's because Elphick had previously played like one whereas recently he's been solid and looks the part. Why spoil that if it's working?
  15. Dr Xia's comments do seem to be aimed at the board as well as Bruce and his team. The FA Cup might not mean much to the average fan nowadays but if you watch it back in China and dream of being the owner of the team that lifts the cup one day, I suppose it could really piss you off to see your team so easily surrender your chance of fulfilling that dream. Seems possible that our owner has more ambition than some others associated with the club.
  16. I do! We have a big squad of players and we got knocked out of the cup at home to Peterborough. I think the owner expects a bit more - as do the rest of us!
  17. You don't need a beautiful flat surface when the ball is hardly on it. It wouldn't surprise me if Bruce hasn't got them doing bobble practise in training. If we have made cuts then it is a shame because I always feel a sense of pride when I walk into Villa Park and the pitch looks so lush and beautiful. Let's face it, for years, the pitch has been the most attractive thing about Villa Park!
  18. To be fair to DemitriC, he probably typed that O'Hare was by far the best player on the pitch and Bruce was a dick for taking him off but his phone misunderstood and typed he was shit.
  19. That, for me, would simply be showing favouritism and not good for the players that Terry will leave behind when he pisses off at the end of the season and the others will still be here.
  20. I think he has been good this season but didn't see today. Regardless of today or this season, he does not deserve to go straight back into the team for the next league game ahead of either Elphick or Chester. They have been brilliant the last 2.5 games!
  21. You will probably get quoted a lot tonight mate!
  22. No distractions from the league now means Bruce can't afford mistakes.
  23. I didn't see today's game and have no idea how anybody played so my next comments have nothing to do with today! I hope Bruce doesn't just throw Terry straight back into the first team for the next league game. Elphick lost his place originally because of the mistakes he made and rightly so. Players have done the same since and have been left out. Players have been injured or suspended and had to wait their chance again - Taylor, Elmo, Lansbury etc. So, Elphick has come in and been superb and for that reason I hope Bruce is consistent and leaves him in until he deserves to be left out.
  24. That's a stronger team than I expected and now fully expect a comfortable Villa won by at least 3-0.
