  1. Was he our second or third highest scorer last season? I agree TRO, until someone's knocking them in regularly from centre midfield he needs to be playing all the time.
  2. Maybe Bruce has been feeling a bit unwell so the owners afforded him a break? If so,no big deal and I can live with that because that's what he has backroom staff for. But, I think it's crazy not to have played El Ghazi after the start he's made to his Villa career. What message does that send out to the lad?
  3. His starting position is too deep most of the time. Our very slow build up play means that the ball fails to get to him most of the time so the lad tracks back to collect the ball and then carries it forwards. He's usually run 40-50 yards with the ball, getting kicked and trying to dodge tackles in the process, before then having to either shoot or lay it off. Jack needs to be further up the pitch with the ball reaching him quicker for him to be seen at his best. Having said that, right now, he's not at his best. I think that maybe the shenanigans of the summer have played a part in his poorish start to the season.
  4. I understand people's frustrations and agree that Bruce looks like he has lost any idea of how to get Villa out of this league however, for me, protesting at the stadium isn't the right way to go about changing a manager - owners yes but, not the manager. I think it wouldnt look good and may make the owners wonder what they've bought in to. I think the best way for people to let their unhappiness of Bruce's management known to the owners would be for them to set up an online petition or something and forward the results to the owners somehow. I'd imagine it wouldn't go unnoticed if say 10,000 fans petitioned for the change of manager. But, I think there would need to be good reasoning put forward to let them know exactly why people don't think that Bruce is the man to take us up.
  5. What bothers me is the way Bruce keeps talking about change disrupting things and that a period of steadiness is needed. Board and ownership change should not affect the players. You go into work and train to play football matches, getting paid accordingly regardless of whoever pays your wages. Regarding player changes, is he saying that all those promotions were gained with teams that had no player changes from the previous season? Take a look at Hull City's wiki page for the 2012-2013 season. Bruce took over and brought in the coaching staff of Steve Agnew, Keith Berchin and Stephen Clemence - sound familiar? He signed a keeper on loan from Man United - sound familiar? Signed Elmohamady - sound familiar? I think he's trying his tried and tested way of doing things but it simply isn't working, for whatever reason, and now he's run out of ideas. Let's face it, he only got us to the play-offs last season because he was forced into throwing Davis up front and Albert came in on the left wing - after originally being dropped - and scored goals for fun from there. It was something enforced on him and it worked. It's stopped working because Adomah isn't performing well. Maybe Kodjia should play wide left and we can get back to those results that took us up the league last season?
  6. Before any of those games were played you would expect a return of 8 points at least. Then, we play 10 men and draw at Ipswich, concede a late equaliser to Reading and you see why we didn't get the additional 4 points. On the flip side, we could so easily have lost the 2 points we took against Brentford and Blackburn. When we struggle against Reading, Ipswich, Blackburn and Wigan you can see why the fans are so concerned.
  7. I was also at the game and there sounded like booing from our end at half time. There were a lot of fans complaining around me and saying that it's time for Bruce to go because he doesn't know how to pick the right team and he's too defensive. For me personally, he seems clueless as to how to pick a balanced side. We have a great attacking squad of players but seem unable to create many chances. We need a forward thinking manager who isn't afraid to make other teams worry about us instead of us worrying about them.
  8. By his own admittance he said Jedinak doesn't have the legs to play Centre midfield so he goes and outs him back in there. Fair play for not playing him at the back but don't them play him in midfield. He should have gone Thor or McGinn holding with Hourihane and Jack in front. He dropped our leading scorer and a guy who has a goal and assist in a few appearances. He just seems clueless. Went to the game expecting defeat and got exactly that, without so much as a whimper. Bruce has to go! My bad for leaving early, well done Conor! Still get rid of Bruce though
  9. The club are designing him his own kit - it's called El Ghazi Strip. Sorry guys, I was bored with the international break!
  10. That would be asking Bruce to think outside the box. Actually, that's what he's already done by taking a player from outside the box and putting him in it! ?
  11. If Axel wasn't deemed good enough for centre back he should not have been loaned in just to play right back. He should have loaned an actual centre back.
  12. Back = The Board, Sack = Bruce, Crack = The Defence!
  13. Abdul makes a good point here. If we got off to such a poor start with the players we have, imagine where we would be if Grealish, Chester, Hutton, Kodjia etc had gone in the summer!
  14. The start to this season has a sense of deja vu to the start we made last season. Last season's start killed our hopes of automatic promotion and right now it seems like this start will put paid to our automatic promotion hopes this season. Most fans would have seen us losing at Sheffield United after the way we'd struggled so far this season. All bar the performance against Brentford were a struggle and even though we played great in that game we so easily could have lost it. Right now, can anyone see us beating the likes of Boro, West Brom, Forest, Leeds etc? Bruce seems to have learnt nothing from last season and because of that he surely needs to be changed.
  15. Bruce leaving the defence so bare and disjointed is absolutely disgraceful, especially given the fact that was his position when he played. Would a Steven Gerrard team lack fight or a Brendan Rogers team not play in triangles? Bruce's style is defend leads. How the hell did he expect this defence to defend leads? That has been Bruce's formula for success with Villa since February 2017 so why leave yourself so short in continuing what you have been good at? It makes no sense at all and suggests to me that he has no idea what to do next in order to kick us on that bit further needed to get out of this league. He needs changing and so does that defence!
  16. He simply seems stuck in his ways and not moving with the times. Sorry Steve, the game has moved on and now it's time for you to do the same.
  17. Shit keeper, RB at lb, cb at rb, DM at CB - there's your reason right there!
  18. We need a tough bastard to manage us, it's always served the Villa well!
  19. Exactly what someone else said, it was the best we've played since HE has been here. It's over a season of football that they were making that comment about! How long do we have to wait to be better? Until the points gap grows so far that we cannot make it up, like the first half dozen or so games of last season? Has he not learnt anything from last season? Sorry, it's now time to realise that Bruce has peaked in his past and he's simply not up to the job of returning Villa to the top flight. The owners need to work hard now at finding someone to replace him ASAP. However, the new guy needs to be able to get an attacking lineup to score lots of goals because that back five is going to concede at least one goal per game.
  20. Absolutely shocking! Could have gone and punched or tried to catch the cross for the first Goal - it's about 5 yards from him whilst his feet are on the line. A grass-cutter from 25-30 yards beat him for the second, although it wasn't that hard a shot. The third goal is simply embarrassing as he actually ends up taking it into the net. The fourth goal he started by throwing the ball out, narrowly missing the player who assists the eventual goal, and they win it back and score from it. This guy is an absolute liability and shouldn't be back between the sticks until he's tearing it up on the training field. Bruce has been chasing this guy for 4 years? What the hell did he see? Was he using his "Jedinak is a centre back in the making" tinted glasses? Another reason why Bruce should hang up his pen!
  21. Bruce should be sacked on grounds of gross misconduct for leaving us with such a poor defence. Playing half the team out of position and having no decent centre backs to assist Chester is criminal.
  22. Rumours are that Purslow is playing to his tune!
  23. As long as the new manager is attack-minded! If he had any kind of defensive thoughts he might as well not fill his desk from the off as he will soon be out.
  24. The difference is TRO, in those days, managers didn't have to motivate 23 millionaires!
  25. Not signing someone who plays in the position that Bruce spent his career at will probably be the biggest mistake of his time here.
