  1. I like that unpredictability of our attacking though. It makes for exciting, although sometimes frustrating, football. I thought our attacking play yesterday contained a lot of flair.
  2. I thought the most interesting point he made in his after match interview was when he said he looks to have three and a half goals in his line-up, as that would usually be enough to win games. He said he had three in Abraham, Kodjia and Adomah and was just looking the half. I guess that explains the link with Barry Bannan then!
  3. I believe it was an Italian guy - possibly Andrea Bocelli! Seriously though, Nyland makes the very basic look difficult. The over-hit cross that was going wide, to drop that in such a fashion was simply abysmal. I have faith in Dean Smith to change the keeper situation in January.
  4. These players actually move. They concealed it so well for the last manager!
  5. What a brilliant football goal that was. Great build up play, bit of skill and defence-splitting pass from Abraham, great first touch and take around the keeper with a finish made to look unbelievably easy by Grealish. See what you can do when you play footie on the ground lads!
  6. Number 4 has always been my favourite number. This is game number 4 for Deano and his henchmen and I think tonight will be the first time we see the new, meaner Villa. Had this vision the other night of the scoreboard showing Aston Villa 5 Bolton Wanderers 0. 40-1 with some betting firms
  7. Exactly! Except for being threatened with relegation all season, I'll happily write promotion off this season if it means that we build something for the future and continually see a more attractive style of football and, eventually, a constantly winning team.
  8. What an absolute tragedy this is. Not only does it look like everyone on board has probably perished but you have to fear that people on the ground could be injured or killed too. We can only wish for as few fatalities as possible at a time like this. Very sad news ?. Condolences to all concerned!
  9. The way I see it is like this: We've won one (H) and lost two (A) - I can't see us doing any better with Bruce in charge. The football has improved in terms of how we are trying to play - however, results are what ultimately count and we're 3 points from 9. Smith has to be given time because Bruce left him with a threadbare defence to work with. Read it and weap until January.
  10. He takes a great corner and has a cracking shot on him within range of goal but, other than that, he practically does nothing but give the ball away.
  11. Absolutely! He's looking a beast just lately and was by far our best player tonight.
  12. Was very disappointing. No wonder he can't get a start at present.
  13. I thought he improved second half but maybe because he just couldn't get any worse. He just constantly gives the ball away and nowhere near as good as Hutton in that position - and that's saying something!
  14. I think that's probably because he wanted someone willing to work hard up front and be first line of defence. I think we'd all agree that JK isn't much for causing a nuisance up front. However, if you want someone to get you a goal out of nothing, I'd take JK over Hogan any day.
  15. I'm not a fan of his at all but I also thought he was our best midfielder tonight.
  16. When their CM got the ball for their second goal, I saw where Hutton was and just knew that he wouldn't be able to get across to stop the ball being crossed in. To be fair, both full backs for us were narrow every time Norwich attacked us. This was something very noticeable at times last season for us. Anyone remember the Wolves away game where we pretty much played that same way and got beat? That defence needs sorting badly but first, they need a goalkeeper that instills confidence in them!
  17. He's not commanding of his area at all. He's a shot stopper and that's it. Not good enough in the modern game.
  18. I'm concerned that we'll fall apart last half hour and concede a couple. I just hope that, if we do go for it from the off, we can score 2 or 3 and kill any spirit they may have. Like others have said, Norwich are doing well this season and I just hope that we don't come away with a confidence-shattering defeat. Come on the Villa - make them pay for what they did you us last season!
  19. So refreshing to read his post match comments on the OS. Saying stuff like "we set good traps" and "we had some good overloads". I bet Steve Bruce will read those comments and wonder what on earth Dean Smith is talking about. An "overload" to Steve Bruce probably indicates he had a mixed kebab meat with salad and chips the night before when all he intended to have was a mini fish and cone of chips. It's also good to see that Deano believes our players are very coachable, which makes you wonder what Bruce and co were actually doing on the training patches at Bodymoor Heath. The signs are good for the future. These players have to be better than they showed previously this season. Let's just hope it all clicks into place soon above for us to push up the league and challenge for automatic promotion. Good results at the top for us this weekend so hopefully it will be like that on many other weekends.
  20. I wish he would be abducted by aliens!
  21. I can - he's past it and no longer interested in playing football for a living and, instead, just wants to take the wages for doing sweet FA. Surely there is no Villa fan out there that would like to see Micah Richards given another game for us?
  22. I wonder which of our players will get to play that Ryan Woods role just in front of the back four. He is about 5 foot nothing but absolutely ran the show whenever he played against us, for Brentford. Just showed you didn't need a big player in that role so I'm guessing one of McGinn or Grealish might play there? Although, playing them there nullifies their attacking threat so maybe Thor or Hourihane instead? Gotta be someone comfortable on the ball and who can pass. Surely that rules out Jedinak and Whelan?
  23. We have to be patient and give him enough time to do his thing. It probably won't happen this season as he will need the next transfer window just to have a chance of sorting out a leaking defence.
