  1. My gaffer at work is a Walsall season ticket holder and he told me when Smith signed that he didn't mind is getting Smith but would be jealous as fook if we ever got Sawyers because "he's the most talented player I've ever seen in a Walsall shirt". That's from a 50 year old whose been a ST holder since 15. Having said that, Walsall are hardly a breeding ground for great talent so he's probably not been spoilt over the years lol.
  2. Who could possibly argue with this? Hourihane made an half-hearted attempt to "block" the shot for the first goal then immediately turned to Taylor to blame him. Yes, Taylor was done easy for the cross leading to that first goal but there were still something like 4-5 Villa players between Roberts and the goal. Those defenders are abysmal and until they're all changed we are staying right where we are.
  3. At 3-0 down, at the end, he got a back 0ass from Hause and simply - like without a care in the world - kicked it out of play for a throw in to Wigan before screaming something like "come on lads". That was a show of petulance and not good to see from someone new to the club.
  4. Think he needs to look at El Ghazi and Bolasie. Our strengths last season were out wide. These two are not doing what Snoddy and Albert did last season - at either end of the pitch!
  5. I don't think anybody would argue with this. Those substitutions were not inspiring at all.
  6. My only concern about Smith's style of play was that it's very demanding physically. I wondered if the players would be knackered and it seems they have become that way pretty quickly - which is a big concern now. Having said that, I thought the same of Leeds with Bielsa's style but they've done fine. Maybe Smith needs to simply scare the shit out of them rather than looking so placid?
  7. I heard it was more like us owning a fetlock and a couple of hind quarters!
  8. Apparently he's got a good attacking philosophy - any hole's a goal!
  9. This guy must be shite if SGC has never seen him play - the Hause out!
  10. I can't allow myself to forget the Delph Conspiracy and get carried away by today's news. However, if Tammy was to publically declare that he doesn't she'd his skin and slither around on his belly, well, then I'd be ecstatic . Someone shut that transfer window quick - but only when our new RB, LB and DM have signed!
  11. I bet it pissed down all week though!
  12. I've sussed out why Tammy is staying - he was only going to Wolves to play alongside the Hause but when he joined the Villa, Tammy had no choice but to stay!
  13. It's a fair question to ask - to be fair! Who knows what Smith's clout is at the club.
  14. The Wolves style doesn't seem to me to play to Abraham's strengths. They rarely crossed the ball high into the box tonight yet a lot of TA's goals for us have been headers. I think he will struggle to score goals there and I'm not being bitter by saying that.
  15. If Kortney has a tenth of the ability of those two cb's that played for the Wolfs tonight we will have an improvement in our defence!
  16. Contrary to that, I heard that the deal just needs to get over the final hurdle and then he's ours! PS: and when asked how he felt about joining Aston Villa Hause replied that he was "chomping at the bit and couldn't wait to sign"
  17. Obviously, the big fear with Smith's approach to games is the amount of goals we concede. Well, so far, we've conceded 20 goals in 14 league games since he joined. Almost 1.5 goals per game. Over a 46 game season that equates to around 65-69 goals conceded. But, last season at Brentford, he conceded 58 league goals. Top scorer was Maupay with 12 league goals. Those two stats fill me with the belief that once he gets his way we will concede less whilst scoring above average numbers of goals for this league.
  18. When I was 16 (1988) I worked in a fishmonger shop in Erdington (Brum for those who don't know) and I used to regularly serve a really scruffy looking old man. He looked like a homeless man. My boss - the shop owner - told me that the old scruffy fella had a load of his land bought off him by Maccy D's for a million quid. He lived near Bodymoor Heath! As I said, that's prime estate out there and must be worth a fortune.
  19. Totally agree with you mate! I guess we have to go on blind faith and trust that these guys are more clued up than Lerner and Xia.
  20. Smacks of desperation, doesn't it?
  21. I really don't buy into the club not wanting to progress in the cup. Smith, as a Villa fan, is well aware of our history in this cup and that unless you are about 70 years old you'd have no recollection of Villa winning the FA Cup. I believe he wouldn't go out of it without a fight - hence the selection of McGinn. I also don't believe they would throw the new keeper under the bus so willingly. Reading Smith's comments about the game on the OS makes me believe my above points even more. I think he is genuinely pissed off with the majority of the players for yesterday's performance.
  22. Gotta be worth a bucket load of money as that's prime real estate out there. Imagine if that land was sold for housing development alone - that would fetch a pretty penny.
  23. Lansbury may well now think he can fit into a Smith team better than Bruce's team so sniffs a chance. He looked majorly pissed off the other week when he had to go off injured - maybe this is why, he really wants to show his worth to Smith. If McGinn played the deeper midfield role maybe Lansbury could take his role and form the midfield trio with Jack?
