  1. No offence Tommy but, unless Sir Gary Cahill says he's a player - he ain't no player!
  2. To be fair to TRO, he's probably crediting Bruce more for getting a grip of Jack's crappy attitude when he was being, ahem, a bit of a Jack The Lad! If that's the case, TRO is right to praise Bruce because he did make Jack toe the line. I think Jack's performances being better and more consistent is down to the player that severed his kidney. I think that injury, and the fact that Jack was told he could have died, gave him the kick up the arse he needed and since then we've seen the true Jack Grealish.
  3. He would score 50 per season if he stopped missing sitters!
  4. They probably looked it until they went into battle on match day!
  5. Basic Brummie interpretation of that for anyone outside of the region: "I came here to find a bunch of players that, by in large, haven't got the ability to play the modern game, which is my style of football. I've tried to teach it to them but the majority aren't intelligent enough to get it so I'll be getting rid and bringing players in who do understand basic Brummie".
  6. It might be symbolic of my relationship this but, I read that last part as: "Nothing like a dummy of a Mrs and a run with the dog".
  7. Anytime you play at Villa Park it's a great fixture for Brentford - even if it was a game of tiddlywinks!
  8. This is very sad news and the longer those involved are missing your fears grow deeper for them. Such a shame and just proves that money isn't everything in this world and certainly gives no guarantees regarding safety.
  9. We need new defenders, what about good defenders from the teams with lowest goals against in League One? Maybe worth a punt for half a million on either of these two? Matty Pearson 24 years old - right back for Luton Town who can also play centre back or left back. He's scored 3 goals in 28 appearances this season and part of a team 2nd in the league. Ethan Pinnock 25 years old - left-footed centre back for Barnsley who can also play left back. He's scored one goal from 25 appearances this season and part of the league's 5th place team. Both clubs have good defensive records this season. Those players are still young enough to develop into better players and may be worth a punt at a cheap price?
  10. In a top team he would get enough chances to still have the possibility of bagging a hat trick every game! He's actually everything that Chelsea need right now. A tall, athletic focal point to finish off their attacks. Thankfully they can't see that!
  11. Is it me or does Axel Tuanxebe and Kortney Hause seem a really cool duo? Sounds like a combo from an 80s cop movie! PS: To stay on topic, Tommy Elphick is nowhere near cool enough a name to be alongside either of the above!
  12. Last season, Bruce had a style and tactic that he set out from the beginning of the season and that was, not to lose. In addition to this, he would try to get a goal lead and then defend it with his life. Lansbury confirmed that at the start of the season when he said that there would be a lot of 1-0 wins to look forward to - or something like that. To be fair to Bruce, that tactic worked well for him but there really seemed to be no plan b. It was dogged defensive display with wingers that acted as wing backs that got us victories. It wasn't too easy on the eye but was largely affective unless we played against good attacking sides and ultimately, that's what cost us promotion. Newcastle have pretty much played he same way in the Premier League this season. However, that style was not nice to watch and wasn't sustainable, as shown this season with the losses of Terry and Johnstone. There was no equal replacement for either of them and that's why that system failed so badly from the start of this season. Smith's style is far more attractive to watch and there's a few teams applying that style around our league now. However, Farke has employed several German players that he was aware of and Bielsa just seems to scare the shit out of his players to get what he needs from them. Smith hasn't had time to build a team suitable to his style of play and that's what he needs now - time.
  13. Tiger Roll - again! Abolitionist, each way
  14. There was a time, towards the end of he game on our attack, where he got the ball and, whilst looking up to play a straight forward pass, one of the Hull players simply lent into him and dispossessed him. They then broke on us and it was panic stations at the back. Like so many have said, he's good on set pieces but in every other way he's just too wimpish and lightweight and we cannot go into every game hoping for a worldy from him. I feel sorry for McGinn because he's carrying the weight of three in that midfield right now!
  15. Agree with the keeper at fault quote but it would've been nice if someone had been close enough to try to get a challenge in.
  16. Is it any surprise that both of their goals were scored from our left side of defence? Taylor is appalling!
  17. Tyrone Mings sounds more like something a dumped girlfriend would say about her ex!
  18. Didn't Leeds start this season with just one new player? If that's the case, quite clearly, the manager has been the difference for them! Like you say, Dean Smith needs to get these players winning matches because he will be under a lot of pressure at the end of the season if they're not in a place the owners think is suitable.
  19. I like Smith and want him to do well because this is his biggest chance in the game so far and, of course, he's one of us. But, with the way the game is these days, it wouldn't surprise me to see someone like Brendan Rodgers in charge before next season starts. That's not me saying Deano isn't good enough or shouldn't be given time etc. Thats me saying that if we don't finish in the top half of the league and produce further results and performances like the Swansea and Wigan games, I could envisage the new owners/board parting company and going for someone more proven at a big club.
  20. Deano, Jackie boy is out for a while and we've not found an answer to his loss during the time he's been absent. Sir Gary Cahill has the answer - Jacob Ramsey! If Leeds can top the league with kids, why not follow their lead? Give it a go - it's not like we're doing so well that it looks like a gamble!
  21. No offence SGC - I love your enthusiasm for all things AVFC - but, we could give a first pro contract to a three-legged, four-fingered death mute and you'd say even they've got a chance PS: Good luck for the future Jacob!
  22. Take it you disagree then? Lol. Wouldn't surprise me if he's talking bull because he's full of it!
  23. You mean, you want us to play a couple of fans? Or, is that a wind up?
  24. Farke brought in some very astute signings and Norwich. He's done a great job for them. We have to hope Deano can do the same for us!
