  1. Has Butland been any good for Stoke the last season? Etheridge got a lot of good reviews last season in a shite Cardiff team and might prove better value at half the price. That Swedish keeper looked good last night, shame he's into just his second year at AS Roma.
  2. If we were looking at paying 25 mill on Abraham but can't get him, I'd like us to go up to 30 mill for Rafael Leao from Lille although, they will probably not be willing to sell due to his potential.
  3. Good job he didn't join the forces then!
  4. W88 say be done with this thread!
  5. I would be happier if this guy wasn't on our books. He was responsible for a lot of the goals we conceded early last season and fills me with zero confidence. If he was younger and still learning I'd be happy to give him a chance but he's in his prime and so needs to go IMO.
  6. I think that might leave our team looking a little bit unbalanced though. We must sign some players for the middle and right side of the field too
  7. But, you are talking about over their careers, and there I would agree with you. But, whilst playing for Villa, so far, Steer has looked the better goalkeeper.
  8. I would say how you perform when wearing the shirt makes you the better player and based on what they've both shown for Villa so far I would say Steer has been the better 'keeper. I reckon that Steer might start the season between the posts too.
  9. The way the players chanted his name at the end says it all really - they are as one. There's a lot of love and respect in that whole set-up and it fills me with pride and promise for the future of our club.
  10. Come on then Tony, keep your promises. I am looking forward to seeing the entire area between Villa Park and the city centre pedestrianised with a cinema, football-related theme park, bowling alley, Nandos, Maccy D, decent bars etc, you get the picture!
  11. Pretty much what I'm thinking about this possible deal, Wes. Suso will probably have Spanish talent lined up for Smith to cherry pick from and there are probably Sevilla connected players amongst them. I liked the look of Jota when he played for Brentford and he scored a lot for them. Dean Smith knows him well and will get the best out of him. He may have looked poor for SHA but let's face it, it must be difficult to play good football when you're playing in a sewer every other week! For £4m it seems like good business to me.
  12. Gotta admit, that shirt looks pretty damn good!
  13. Good luck and thanks for all your work Uncle Albert. Without you there's no way Villa would have got to the play-off final 2017/18 so thanks for giving us hope that season and best wishes for the rest of your career
  14. Come to think of it, did AVFCPRIDEOFBRUM ever play for the Villatalk team? Just wondering if there's a potential sell-on fee due to Villatalk? I'm sure Limpid could do a lot of good things to the site with a 10% share of a 10 mill transfer fee
  15. I hope it's true that Villa are trying to sign AVFCPrideofBrum as it would be great to have another talented player within our ranks that has the club in his DNA.
  16. I read somewhere today that Purslow was given a remit of finding a manager that wanted to playing attractive, attacking football. He's happy that he's found that in Dean Smith. Why would anyone at the club want to simply lay down and have our bellies rubbed whilst getting thrashed 5 or 6 nil by the likes of Citeh and the smeggers? I'd rather see us try to give them a game than just cave in.
  17. Does anyone else agree that £25m looks too much for Tammy?
  18. Our best attacking threat all game and seemed to really enjoy his first taste of Wembley. Great performance Anwar - sign him up!
  19. I love the fact we're a Premier League club again but loathe the fact Lerner makes anything off the back of it.
  20. Dean, no matter how high or low you take us, I'll always love you for what you are mate - a true Villan! Thank you so much for taking us back to the Premier League and giving us back that proud feeling of being a top flight club again - you're a legend!
  21. I love this kind of post, where fans of another club find themselves falling for our club. I went to Wembley with a group of guys for our last League Cup final against Man Utd. Three of us (me included) went dressed in costume, as Villa knights. Our group went to the Greyhound pub pre-match and whilst in that pub we befriended a group of four Norwegian men who were members of the Norwegian Villa fan club. They had paid £600 each to travel over from Norway to watch the game and stay at a hotel for the night. They became Villa fans after Erik Bakke had been signed by us and we're chuffed that John Carew was playing for us at the time. I've stayed in touch with one of the guys ever since. I hope you get lucky, SuperJohnMcGinn, and find tickets for you and your brother. Who knows, maybe your namesake can score a Wembley goal for you, in a Villa win, to make it a day to remember.
  22. I agree with this to a certain extent. As long as he's not missed on any planned training and left himself enough time to recover etc then I don't see a problem. Maybe there's a chance that the players were told to get away and enjoy a couple days break in order to relax and unwind a little?
  23. I think that the deal must purely be based on revenue for the club as the Luke kits have been our best since the Acorns efforts in my opinion. I just hope Kappa tone down their symbolism on the kit as I am not a fan of their gear generally.
  24. I thought it was sloth from the Goonies!
  25. If we were to sell Villa Park to the fans, can I please buy a burial plot size portion where the penalty spot is in front of the Holte End. I can then be buried, without a coffin and, because I'm so full of shit, the grass on that penalty spot will forever be lush
