  1. You are clearly the man to get this job done then or you will have to face a thousand lashings from the mods?
  2. Shame on you for forgetting the mercurial talents of Super John McGinn.
  3. If you and Trent are right, if we aren't looking at Phillips, I hope it's some big, imposing, nasty piece of work to sit in front of Mings so that Tyrone just simply needs to finish then off rather than have to do the whole kill.
  4. What I liked so much about this transfer was there was no cryptic messages and no PR related staff popping on to the board to tell us to watch this space etc. It was Bam, there you go have a Brazilian, a club record transfer for you to go and check out all about online.
  5. Demi, I think you have created a new word there and I like it - transfee - meaning a loan transfer deal that involves a guaranteed transfer fee at the end of it or, more simply, a transfer fee. Not taking the pee either, it's in the same realms of British exit from the EU - Brexit.
  6. To be fair to Bournemouth, they had a deal with Villa whereby we had to match the highest bidder to get Mings. They're probably holding out on a bidding war in order to ramp his price up before letting him go.
  7. I think Jack could be England's next Paul Gascoigne but without wasting his talent. Gazza scored 10 goals in 57 appearances for England, Jack could easily equal or better that but, more importantly, he would get the ball and take it forward and drawer the attention from the opposition to create space for others and, like you say, there's nobody else in the current England squad doing that.
  8. I think Purslow, Smith and the owners have looked at what Wolves have achieved in their first season back and seen that outside of the top six the rest are beatable on any given day if you field a decent enough team against them. Hopefully, that's where we will be within a couple of seasons and then we kick on from there.
  9. If Wesley does have a big of feistiness in him that'll be great as, with Mings at the back and McGinn and possibly Phillips in the middle, we'll have a bit of true grit (please someone more technically gifted than me do a western style gif of Wes, Mings and McGinn) running through the spine of the team since McGrath knows when. TRO will be a very happy man!
  10. I think we need a bigger bank vault and a new cheque book
  11. Steve Bruce probably would have thought that Wesley is from somewhere up north, like Rochdale.
  12. Just need to now buy: Butland - £20m Mings - £20m Hause - £3m Another Centre Back - £10-20m Targett or other Left back - £10m Phillips - £14m Bowen or other right side forward - £20m Lolley - £10m Just another approx. £110m to spend and we're done
  13. Maupay would have probably cost the same, if not more, than this. I'm not sure of the quality of the Belgian league but I doubt it's much better, overall, than our Championship. Just thinking that Wesley may work out being a steal considering his age and the development potential. Also, we scored the most goals from crosses last season and Abraham was a big part of that due to his height. Wesley fits that tall striker role perfectly and has probably been picked as a straight replacement for Tammy, which makes a lot of sense.
  14. Welcome to the Villa family Wesley. Work hard, play to the best of your ability and always give a wave to us fans and you'll have all the support you need to help you score your goals mate.
  15. The good thing about assembling a side like that pretty much means that, should we keep the majority of them if we did go down, we know that side would pretty much boss the Championship and go straight back up.
  16. With regards to Phillips, didn't Bielsa manage Sevilla during Suso's time there?
  17. If Villa buy Butland, Hause, Mings and say Targett for a total of around £53m and take Cahill on a free that would give us a decent defence to defend our first season back in the PL. Jota can be cover for both wings, with Green plus he can cover Jack's position too. Buy Phillips to play in front of the back four and that leave Hourihane to cover that role together with McGinn's. We then would need a starting right midfielder together with a starting striker and back-up striker. Personally, I would hope they would buy Lolley for £10m and Bowen for say £20m. Bowen can play wide right or down the middle. Lolley is more left-footer so can be the better cover for El Ghazi plus could probably have a go anywhere across the middle of the park. Just need a striker then. Spend £20-30m on someone new to the PL. Not a fan of Maupay but we would have some tough team if it comprised of him, Mings, McGinn and Phillips.
  18. That's appalling behaviour V4L! How dare you recommend that players from such a low standard could grace the fields of gold that the Premier League beholds? I suppose you are the kind of man that thought Dele Alli could make it at Spurs or Aaron Ramsey would have made such an impact at Arsenal? Personally mate, I think you need to get yourself professionally contracted to the Villa and ask them for a tidy little number working the Dutch, German and French leagues looking for cheap talent out there. Summer hols in Nice and Monaco must surely be enticing?
  19. Last 6 games of something like this would be appreciated: Bournemouth (A) Southampton (H) Sheffield United (A) Burnley (H) Norwich (A) Palace (H)
  20. The bosses at the club were right not to parade a trophy for coming third (fifth) in the second tier of English football. We keep going on what a big, famous club we are and that's exactly why we didn't parade it. Purslow actually filled me with a lot of belief when he said we won't be having parades until we win leagues and cups etc. Big words - let's hope they can deliver on them!
  21. A mate of mine bumped into Dean Smith in Iceland earlier today. He asked him when we will be signing some new foreign talent. Smith said that he has a player flying in early tomorrow for talks and quoted the player saying "Ireland in Birmingham tomorrow morning and head starting to Bodymoor Heath for talks". Sorry guys!
  22. Seems like you have a good staple diet DDID!
  23. I think the owners will spend whatever Smith deems necessary, within reason, of course. They've said he's got a job long term even if we get relegated next season. With that in mind, it all depends on what the owners' aims are for next season. I'm assuming it'll be that they will wish to stay up and if they've put pressure on Smith to do that then of course they are going to have to spend quite a bit - £100m at least probably. If they've asked Smith to be careful with spending and to do the best job he possibly can, Smith will obviously then have one eye on relegation and the wage bill of the squad if we went down, so would probably then only spend maybe less than £50m thinking we can handle that amount safely if we went down. Who knows what the thinking is at all levels? We will just have to wait and see. Personally, I think that what Fulham did will not put them off spending that kind of money. It's how you spend it that counts together with what you need in your team. If we are looking at 10 players of which 5 need to start, maybe they accept that the rebuild will cost £100m+.
