  1. Shaky must make peeing bloody good fun though
  2. To be fair, I thought £57m for what is in effect a stadium situated within the grounds of a stately home, was cheaper than I expected.
  3. Who is it - Jeremy Twunt trying to sound cool? His dad was in the navy, you know! Agree with you on Webster.
  4. Makes perfect sense for a club to sign their wanted players (and replacement) before getting a wedge of money. I'd say this points towards Villa getting their man!
  5. That literally means that there are more outstanding clubs after him, including Aston Villa, so not putting us down at all and that makes him sound interested in us, which would be a good thing as he looks a real talent.
  6. Butland has that experience but, dare I say it, so does Austin!
  7. Interesting that Matt fits our criteria of being young, has room for improvement and, has experience of the Premier League. Welcome to the Villa Matty, now free up the interview chair as there should be another coming through anytime soon - hopefully!
  8. Can you imagine if one of Sir Gary Cahill and Delphinho123 were a woman and together they had a child. That kid would be the most optimistic person that ever lived! Joking apart guys, and please don't take offence at my above statement, I actually mean it sincerely as you guys are really optimistic, which is better than always seeing things in a negative light! Right, so on Wednesday we're signing Austin and offering RHM a new £100k per week, 5 year deal, right?
  9. With the high-pressers his ability on the ball will be sternly put to the test. Not saying he can't do it though!
  10. They're inexperienced in the PL but have vast experienced elsewhere. Moutinho and Patricio for instance have always been quality players. Villa could do with a couple of well known, experienced, quality player players amongst their ranks to aid the younger players. After all, we've just lost the likes of Hutton, Jedinak and Whelan. I wouldn't mind us bringing in a couple of quality 30 year olds if they can add something to the squad and help the younger ones.
  11. SGC, give it up, please! This is 2019/20 were talking about and Charlie Austin is past his prime as a footballer. He'd want a wedge of money to play less than 20 games and score around 5 goals. How would that benefit our team? The club looks to have moved on from those kind of deals and we should all be grateful of that considering that we've been there and it nearly cost us our club.
  12. Exactly this! Plus, after a couple of seasons in the Premier League, the top four will be offering £100m for Super John McGinn. And even then they can go fook themselves!
  13. Not if we're serious about becoming an established top flight club again! That's what cost us the last time we attempted to break the top four.
  14. Probably a good opinion though, JV. However, the only way Villa would ever entertain such a deal is if there was an option to buy at the end of the loan and that wouldn't suit the player as he wants to stay and play at Real so there's pretty much zero chance of this attracting Smith and Purslow.
  15. I'll be gutted if we signed someone like Charlie Austin. I hope we've gone away from has beens who are just capable of final pay days.
  16. I feel your hurt Rob. God bless your Dad and all who love and care for him
  17. I'm not sure about this one. I recall a Villatalker mentioning him as a possible loan deal early last season. I'd never heard of him so watched the next live Southampton game that he played in to check him out. I have to say that he looked a bit clueless defensively in that game and when he did get forward he never had the pace to beat the right back to get a cross in. It stuck in my memory that I was glad there was no chance of it happening. Now I'm reading £14m and hoping that it was an off game for him and not his normal standard. Having said all that, it's not fair to judge someone on one game and playing for another club. He could be great for us - I wish him well if all is true and he joins and hope he does well with us.
  18. Tavernier will be a good signing but I never thought of him as Arsenal level.
  19. I don't care who we buy as long as they're not in the "has been" category! Hopefully, those days are gone for us.
  20. Possible but not on a Wednesday - Joe will probably be on here checking out our other new signings as per Delphinho123's itk.
  21. I think tomorrow could bring a signing, just think about it. Villa fans are bound to celebrate a new signing with a few beers. If they announce midweek it could result in fans getting drunk and losing their jobs (see Bannedfromh&v earlier!) and that could affect club revenue. Nah, it's better to reveal signings on a Friday so fans can celebrate and have Saturday to sleep off the beer and spend all day watching YouTube footage of their new heroes
  22. Now now, no need to be personal and stereotypical. I think you fail to consider that the author of the article may have been under the influence of a demi-john of scrumpy at the time of writing?
  23. I have it on good authority that we will be signing at least 6 players before the start of the season. My source, Gut Feelingmyson - I think he's possibly Scandinavian?
