  1. Delphinho, how would you feel about your namesake returning to us? Personally, it's not for me as that shipped sailed and good riddance to him.
  2. Right, I'm going to ask a question that is going to be unpopular with a lot of people for sure but, I'm sure someone would have asked it at some point so here goes: He's 29 and is a proven defensive midfielder who can pass a ball and chip in with a goal of two. He's in the last year of his contact so likely not to cost too much and he knows the club well. Would anyone take back the snake?
  3. So with just a couple of hours left of Tuesday this week, I would just like to ask Delphinho123 what is failed predictions are for tomorrow?
  4. I'm not overly excited by the Heaton signing as he never struck me has being that good. Maybe he is and I've not seen enough of his performances to truly judge him, I hope so. However, if buying him allows us to free up more funds for players in other positions - centre back and defensive midfield - then I'm all for it.
  5. If that's the case it makes you wonder how much we will spend on a DM.
  6. I'd personally like us to go: Jack Butland - £25m Axel Tuanzebe (loan) - £2m? Jarrod Bowen - £15m Defensive Midfielder - £10m (buy Heaton and Phillips becomes available) Bowen would primarily play right-side attack but can also cover the striker role. Edit: Just thinking about this. It would give us a side made up largely of players that have primarily played a large amount of Championship level football. But, does anyone think that the team of Butland, Mings, Tuanzebe, Targett, Guilbert, Phillips, McGinn, Grealish, El Ghazi, Bowen, Wesley would get relegated? I dont!
  7. I hear what folks are saying regarding the £20m signings but, surely if we were say willing to pay £15m each for Webster and Butland - £30m combined - we could go say Axel on loan for the season for a fee of say £2m and pay £25m for Butland? Or, buy Heaton for £7m and pay £20m for Webster? Even better, bring Axel on loan for £2m, buy Heaton for £7m and get Rafael Leao in for £25m?
  8. If we get Heaton in I think that there'll be a real chance of Steer becoming number one. I'm really not convinced that Heaton is much better, if better at all, than Steer. On the subject of Axel. I don't think he'll start for Manure this season and that the deal was just given to him to guarantee they get a fee for him when he goes. But, if their interest in McGinn is true then I reckon the only way they'd sell Axel to us is as part of a deal taking SJM to Manure, and that wouldn't appeal to any of us, surely? I would take Axel on a season-long loan again though. Problem is, our bosses have said they're not interested in doing such deals anymore, unless there's chance to make it a permanent move at the end.
  9. I'd like to get her on the back of my shirt - and on the front of my shorts
  10. It looks a bit patchwork around the neck/sleeves area.
  11. Hope you're right Trent. He'd be an important part of the jigsaw for me. I hope we get this done however it happens.
  12. If true that's quite disheartening as having a solid 'keeper is just as important as a 20 goal-a-season striker. If we're willing to go so high on Mings, we should just get Butland done and dusted - £20m with £5m added on if we stay up this season. No brainer surely?
  13. I'm not sure where Maupay would fit in plus, I can't stand the dirty little runt but,, I'd like him in my team. Wesley, apparently, as a fiery streak in him so it would be good to have two strikers with fire in their belly. Trezeguet looks rapid and would add a lot of pace to the team. Lolley would be great back-up and work his socks being one of us. Nakamba would add bite down the middle plus more pace. Gibbs would do a job covering lb. Not sure on Wallace or Blackett.
  14. Ah mate, I was totally gripped by that post but then you went and spoilt it a smidgen with the last two words - it made me feel like Rylan Clark had suddenly joined Villatalk!
  15. Just want to give this a boost as I'm really looking forward to this lad playing for the Villa. We've been raving about the Wesley and potential Mings signing etc but this is/was our first summer signing really and I think we may have unearthed a little gem here. He does go to ground quite a lot in that video but, at least he tackles! He gets stuck in, looks quite pacy, has some good footwork and can certainly play some great long-range passes - with both feet!
  16. After Mings, if we signed Cahill on a free, we could really only have to spend £20m Butland, £8m Nakamba & £10m Trezeguet to finish the team off, a further £38m - easily doable IMO. Personally though, I'd rather we spent the extra £20m to get Webster.
  17. There's a simple answer to all this. If John Stones was worth £50m then Tyrone Mings is easily worth £25m.
  18. I just used the capitals to decipher that you're suggesting this guy as an alternative: Ehuides Outchapn Nmbad - which club/country does he play for?
  19. The Sun must have asked someone that lives in a cave who they thought would be playing for the Villa this season. Our lineup will be more like this:
  20. Man Utd could pay £80m for Maguire and a few games into the season he could do his ACL or break a leg (hope he doesn't, by the way), who knows what can happen just around the corner? We could sign Mings for £25m and he play 90% of the games during the next 4 or 5 years, proving invaluable to us and that fee look a steal. We need a solid, reliable centre back who can lead what is going to be a whole new defence, for that stability I think we have to pay whatever it takes to get Mings in.
  21. Out of all the players we've been linked with I can see these coming to fruition: Butland - Think the deal is done at £20m plus add-ons and we are just letting Stoke bring in signings before announcing the deal so that they don't get ripped off in pursuit of new players. Nakamba - Again, I think a deal is done and we are just waiting for him to return from the AFCON. It fits in nicely with the deal for Wesley and they can help each other settle in and he'll probably cost us around £10m. Mings - I can't imagine him settling back in at Bournemouth and I think there's a fee agreed but they're just waiting to see if anyone makes a higher offer. I think that apart from those we are probably seriously interested in Webster but scared off by the asking price. Maybe we are playing the waiting game on that one in the hope of gettin him at a more reasonable asking price? What I don't want is for us to take gambles on either of Cahill or Sturridge. If we have to take either then it's Cahill all day long as I genuinely believe he just wants to play football and I would trust Terry's advice on that one. However, Sturridge has no other motive than to get a pay-day out of someone and would be a terrible signing and would be the next Lescott/Richards IMO. He's injured more than fit and he's got Bluenose in him so would probably love ripping the Villa off. His uncle manages a Hills betting shop in Brum and he is a nose too! I would love us to sign Jarrod Bowen from out of nowhere as he could start off playing the RM role and also fill in up front if Wesley is ever out. I think that lad has all the attributes to play in the Premier League.
