  1. So, if Soler is signed, is he likely to break out transfer record? If so, would be by a small amount or will he eclipse it?
  2. I'm no connoisseur of Spanish football so can anybody enlighten me why someone would be buzzing if we signed Carlos Soler? His record is 6 goals in 87 games as a midfielder for Valencia. I bet Jedinak beat that for the Villa? Edit: Jedinak didn't so I take that back!
  3. Cue the oracle wars! Keep it calm guys, we don't want you losing sight of all the impending deals
  4. For those tha may wish to know; tonight's game is apparently being shown live on Minnesota's YouTube channel at 1am UK time. Hopefully a chance to see some of our new summer signings in action.
  5. Judging by some recent posts on here, there's gonna be one or two disappointed to know that Small Heathens have agreed a fee of 750k with Willem II for Daniel Crowley.
  6. If that's his finger in that pie I've been doing it wrong for all those years
  7. How do people fancy this starting lineup if the Heaton and Trezeguet deals can go through?
  8. Apologies if anyone else has already posted this but, according to the Brum mail, the Villa will be unveiling the new away kit at 3:30pm our time tomorrow at a bar in Minneapolis with a "special guest" due to be present. Possible unveiling of our new DM perhaps? Surely not on a Wednesday?
  9. He looks tall but slight - not as strong as the other lads. Looks like he needs to beef himself up a bit for the challenge of the Premier League.
  10. Unless he played for such a good team that he didn't need to make many tackles? Can be the only reason otherwise that state is mystifying.
  11. I tried that once but she said my Dad's not her type!
  12. Man, do I feel your pain! My missus always says "how did you know I wanted/needed that?" When it's her turn to buy for me it's "I didn't know what to get you so..."
  13. He needs arms around guidance alright, locked up in a straight jacket with him surrounded by padded walls!
  14. Tell you why not, because Delphinho123 is the voice of all Wednesday transfer activity and he said there are 3 tomorrow - nobody questions the oracle of Wednesday transfers!
  15. Maybe he liked being in Bruges so much that he keeps going back to watch the team and scout their players for us?
  16. Would we still be looking to sign Nakamba if we sign Douglas Luiz? Probably not. Luiz and Engels in would leave us needing what? GK?, RM and a Striker? Personally, I don't think we are in for another striker. I think it will be just a right-sided attacker. Probably Trezeguet. Linkert's post about Villa wanting Bruges to take a loanee made me wonder if we tried to farm Kalinic out to free-up a keeper spot?
  17. See, that would not surprise me one bit! I was a school-friend of an ex pro here in Birmingham and I also worked with his Dad. His Dad told me an interesting story about how his son's manager at the time would refuse players to hand in transfer requests. Instead, he would put them up for sale and make them give him half of the signing-on fee. By the way, the manager in question still manages and has managed in the Premier League too. I suppose Nakamba could have his head messed with if his manager was/is dodgy?
  18. We like the same here. Never sign Ross McCormack or Fabian Delph!
  19. Having just read Deano's interview on the official site, I doubt we will be looking to buy as many players as some are expecting. He actually says that we are being linked with everyone and it's not the case. He said we haven't even looked at some of the players mentioned and that we have a bit more business to do. With this in mind, it wouldn't surprise me now if we only sign a couple more players, which would probably be a defensive midfielder and a right-sided attacker. At a push, maybe another goalkeeper as we know that they've had bids rejected for at least two.
  20. Did you watch him play during the African Cup recently? If so, did you think is performances were more like old him or the recent him? I thought he looked decent and exactly like you said, he read the danger, broke up play and, sent his team away on the counter-attack.
  21. Not at all! We got the third or fourth richest owners in UK football to take over the club, it would be absolutely normal for us to assume we would spend big on our return to the top flight, especially with the amount of players needed.
  22. In fairness to the people of Bristol, they've lost a bucket load of revenue from the tolls being closed so they've gotta compensate for that somehow. In terms of their fans coming in here; we gotta put up with the trolls to compensate for the tolls
  23. Sometimes I read these threads on VT and think of seaside humour and the old Carry On movies. So, we need a new version - Carry On Up The Villa I'm sure the more creative-minded folk will think of character names
  24. If Peter Titties is right that means we are now linked with a defender, a goalkeeper and a striker from Reims. #letsbuyallofReims
