  1. Benrahma today and a striker on Thursday then. We all know that Wednesday is the forbidden day for signings. That last Wednesday announcement was done purely to show that the bosses at the club are only human after all.
  2. If you look at the defence as a whole, he's actually brought in 8 new players. Mings, Engels, Konsa, Hause, Targett and Guilbert. Add two new keepers - Kalinic and Heaton - to the mix and there's your 8 new players. From that, I think it's clear to see that our new management team could obviously see what our previous management team didn't.
  3. Please don't! Everybody knows that politics and sport don't go together very well.
  4. I don't think many teams will stop us from scoring this season. Even the so-called bigger clubs will find it difficult to stop this Villa team scoring.
  5. Coutinho? Why on earth would he come here just to clean Jack' boots?
  6. I was talking with my brother's stepson yesterday. His mother is Italian so he subscribes to watch all the Serie A games and he reckons that Bellotti is a great player. If you look at all the top strikers across the best leagues of Europe, he seems the player most likely to fit the profile we're currently working on. Does anyone know of him being linked elsewhere?
  7. Zapata seems like a goal machine after last season but I cannot see Villa spending something like £30m on a 28 year old.
  8. Yet, Nakamba and Wesley both left Brugge - playing in this season's Champions League - for Villa. Money talks and the Premier League is where the money is.
  9. I love Dean Smith's attitude. That interview he did with Christian Purslow on the day after the play-off final showed his ambition. The guy asked him what the club's aims were for the coming Premier League season and Deano said we will try to win the league. He said that you have to go into every game trying to win it. I think that's brilliant and makes for entertaining football, which after the dross we've had served up under some recent managers, is absolutely welcomed by me. We might get a tanking against one or two of the big boys but at least we'll go down fighting and playing the game in the right manner. I am beginning to believe that Dean Smith, whenever his tenure comes to an end, will leave as a legend of this football club.
  10. Not against Spurs but when all are firing.
  11. With what we currently have, I'd go with: ---------------------Heaton------------------- Guilbert---Engels---Mings---Targett ------------------------Luiz---------------------- ----------McGinn--------Grealish---------- Jota--------------Wesley-------Trezeguet Subs: Steer, Hause, Konsa, Nakamba, Hourihane, El Ghazi & Kodjia. If we buy another big price striker, maybe Trezeguet drops to the bench in place of Hourihane and Wesley plays out wide?
  12. Judging by that photo it seems as if all that running on the treadmill during his 11 medicals has taken its toll on his waistline!
  13. This lot have not played a first class game for Villa as yet: -------------------------Heaton------------------------- Guilbert------Engels----Konsa------Targett ------------------------Nakamba---------------------- ----------------------------Luiz--------------------------- ----------------------------Jota--------------------------- ----Wesley------?????????-----Trazeguet--- See, we definitely need another striker to complete the whole new team we've assembled! Out of interest, if we had to field the above team as our main side for the whole of the Premier League season, do you think they'd stay up? Obviously, a lot depends on who the striker would be. Maupay? Belotti? Wesley with Benrahma out wide?
  14. The players we've let go weren't even good enough for a team trying to get out of the Championship so there's no way they would have cut it at Premier League level. Hence, the cull had to happen. Anyone doubting the amount of signings we have made should look at the side we fielded in the second half against Minnesota. The majority of them would not cut it in the Premier League as back-up so the management team have done the right thing in bringing the extra quality needed.
  15. Just out of interest, are you happy with the way things are going? PS: Not having a dig, it's a sincere question.
  16. Jonathan Bamba from Lille? They've sold Pepe and Leao so why not go all the way and get rid of the whole forward line?
  17. With Nakamba needing about 11 medicals to get the deal done, I am thinking that we should sign Heaton around mid January, after his 52 medicals.
  18. The players and management all did that PL media day today so maybe they were too busy to greet their new arrival?
  19. When is Nakamba being announced? How many more new signings left now? I reckon Nakamba, a keeper and that will be it.
  20. Or, a Christian Fuchs and Rod Fanni pairing
  21. Blimey, that sounds like, if you tucked it in, you'll be wearing the players name on your arse!
  22. Same here! My original team had 5 Villa players in it then I realised the limit.
