  1. McGinn is quality and should definitely have had a penalty when their player just flattened him.
  2. Agree with all the positives. Great display from Tom and if that's his usual standard we've absolutely mugged Burnley at that price.
  3. I thought the full-back decision was strange before the game but having watched it I felt it was an understandable decision. Clearly, Deano felt that we couldn't go too gung-ho in our first game and may have got the jitters having watched Norwich get a spanking on the previous night with their full-backs constantly being caught out of position. Playing Targett and Guilbert would have also meant four new starters in a back five. In hindsight, with how Spurs defended, maybe Deano regrets not having a bit more of a go at them down the flanks. Who knows? I bet both Targett and Guilbert play against Bournemouth.
  4. Agreed. He looked accomplished and the Mings/Engels combo look like it will do us proud over time.
  5. I thought that he could have been a bit more square on for the Spurs third goal. That was definitely something he could have stopped. You mention he should be more like Mings and throw his body in front of the ball, I agree. However, for their second goal Mings turned side-on and raised his knee to deflect it in. If Mings had stood sqare-on he would have blocked the shot.
  6. Thought it was mental to play him and Elmo bit settled down to realise how much change it would have meant and found him to have had one of his best games for us. Not at fault for any of the goals conceded.
  7. He was ok for his debut and unlucky not to score.
  8. For a big guy he needs to be stronger than that. He will learn for sure otherwise we will move him on. I'm confident he will be fine.
  9. Very disappointing but maybe Deano knew best and was hoping for an impact sub.
  10. He played great but turned sideways for the last goal. Not saying it would have made a difference but who knows? Otherwise, it was a very inspiring show from him.
  11. Showed glimpses but took way too long on the ball. Nobody gives up on him after one game but I think that, knowing how Kodjia is, we should have gone for another striker.
  12. That squad list shows one area that is wrong and that's the goalkeeper situation. 4 in a 25 man squad is one too many. Although, im sure they did all they could to correct that. I know some would probably want to see Kalinic moved on because of wages but personally I'd rather see Nyland go as that would leave us in a healthy position with the three remaining keepers.
  13. Good Luck for today and rest of the season. You've earnt this Deano! I'm proud that someone has come in to develop a style - an identity - for my club and even prouder that he loves the club like I do.
  14. All I want is for us to keep our identity and play the way Deano wants. If we do that there's no way we go down this season. Yes, we may get beaten by the top six but the top six are not our concern. If we win 10 or 12 games against the other 13 sides and pick up several draws we will be fine. Anything above that is a bonus.
  15. I think Spurs will win but I think we will score, so I'd go more 2-1 to Spurs but with Villa having plenty of the ball and creating chances.
  16. Norwich played the Champions of Europe and a side that lost only one league game all last season. A team that includes one of the best forward lines in world football and one of the world's best centre backs. Norwich conceded goals for fun last season and haven't strengthened that defence. The only reason they won so many games last season was because they attacked as a team and outscored the opposition, something that was going to be hard against the best defence in the league last season. Before tonight's game I fancied Liverpool to winning by at least that scoreline so I don't know why people are so concerned. Villa will concede tomorrow night. The big question is, how many can we score?

  20. The onus is on the owners. It really angers me when you hear of Directors earning 300k+ per year and then having their car and fuel paid for and eating out at fancy restaurants with their company credit card. They got to corporate do's all over the place and get everything paid for too. It happens at the company I work for whilst staff of over 20 years service earn minimum wage still. Think of the wastage that goes on in football whereby players throw strops so don't end up playing yet they're still employed and paid tens of thousands per week whilst the average office employees earn minimum wage and get a bollocking for turning up late to work once or twice a week because they got stuck in the morning traffic etc. It's not fair! Go on Nas and Wes, make a statement and pay a decent living wage to the backbone of the club.
  21. Team for Saturday? .........................Heaton........................ Guilbert.....Engels....Mings.....Targett ................McGinn....Nakamba................ Jota..................Grealish..........Trezeguet ...........................Wesley....................... Subs: Steer, Konsa, Hause, Elmohamady, Hourihane, El Ghazi, Kodjia.
  22. Yet at Brentford he had Hogan and Maupay. Wonder why he changed tack.
  23. Spine, that magic word in football terms. Ours is: Heaton, Mings, Douglas, McGinn, Wesley. Two Brazilians, a top rate keeper, a workaholic and a stamper of heads defender. Nothing to dislike about that spine!
