  1. We are really solid at the back but we cant seem to get into full flow going forward. Another tough away game at Everton on Saturday despite them being in bad form. Who ever we face in the Quarters it is going to be tough. Hopefully we can get Portsmouth or any game at home.
  2. Team Aston Villa (4-4-2): Guzan, Beye, Collins, Cuellar, Shorey, Milner, Petrov, Delph, Gardner, Agbonlahor, Carew. Subs: Sidwell, Dunne, Albrighton, Delfouneso, Warnock, Clark.
  3. If Spurs lose tomorrow we go above them as our goal difference is the same, If City lose by 2 goals or United lose by 4 goal we will go up another place. We could be third after tomorrow's game we a game in hand over Chlesea, Man Utd, and Spurs
  4. Forget the Formation, We have picked the best 11 players available. I think Luke will play some part on Wednesday night, no point changing a back four who played really well last week.
  5. VILLA: Friedel, Cuellar, Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Milner, Petrov, Sidwell, Young, Carew, Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Beye, Shorey, Gardner, Delph, Heskey, Delfouneso.
  6. At least all 3 defenders are experienced a the top level just imagine if it was 3 youngsters, Dunne has played in Manchester Derbies and Cuellar in old firm derbies.
  7. Blues are playing a midfielder at right back and a right back at left back, sounds like Villa last year
  8. I always thought that O Neill would just bulk up the squad this summer which is what he has done. I did not expect any major signings as we need a solid base and group of players which we can now add to. Last season the players showed they had the quality to challenge the top 4 but are squad depth caught up with us, now we are out of Europe we have a team that can really challenge for the league without the distractions of Europe.
  9. There is 2 weeks until our next game so Young will have time to recover
  10. It gives us the pace threat and the height threat
  11. Milner into the centre of midfield, Gabby on the right and Carew up top by himself Still 4-5-1 Gives us the pace threat and the height threat
  12. Carew on, Reo Coker off Milner into the centre of midfield, Gabby on the right and Carew up top by himself
  13. Gabby Gabby Agbonlahor he hits it hard he hits hard.
  14. That is the only problem with 4-5-1 when you are at home and a team makes it hard for you to break then down you only lump balls forward. It works better away as the other team attacks and you have more space to play.
  15. Gabby just pushes Hangeland off the ball Unlucky Sidwell
  16. He cant show how good he is unless he plays so lets hope he can take his chance.
  17. Aston Villa (4-5-1): Friedel, Beye, Cuellar, Clark, Shorey, Milner, Reo-Coker, Petrov ©, Sidwell, Young, Agbonlahor Subs: Carew, Albrighton, Delph, Heskey, Guzan, Warnock, Gardner.
  18. Look at the positives - We won the game and stages played really well - Carew took a while to get going but looked sharp - We can play 4-4-2 and win game - Some of the defending was really good - Being out of Europe might help us in the league - Young was back to how he played last season running at defences The only negatives - Davies Injury - The way we played when we went 2 up it was a times to defensive. - Young missed a penalty The negatives are easily fixed there is no major problem like after the Wigan game with Warnock and Dunne our squad is good enough in terms of quality and numbers for a full tilt at the league.
  19. Same system that got all those wins last season with Gabby upfront by himself with Young and Milner supporting.
  20. John Carew has a slight knock so has not been risked
  21. Aston Villa: Friedel, Beye, Cuellar, Davies, Shorey, Milner, Delph, Petrov, A Young, Agbonlahor, Heskey Subs: Guzan, Albrighton, Clark, Gardner, Sidwell, Carew. Reo-Coker
  22. http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10265~1743135,00.html Team: Elliot Parish, Chris Herd, Daniel Devine, Shane Lowry, Tomos Roberts, Daniel Bradley, Dominik Hofbauer, Gary Gardner, Andras Stieber, James Collins, Adam McGurk.
