  1. Why do people keep bringing this up? He also bought Robinho for over 30m. I admit he's good enough for a midtable club who's on a tight budget. But we're more of an upper club on a decent budget. I just don't think Hughes would fit that bill at all. It would also contradict everything on why they hired Houllier in the first place. Whatever you say Hughes did not buy half the players at City the owner did he was playing golf when Robinho was brought. Hughes needs a chance at a bigger club than Blackburn and Fulham where is not under pressure of having the world richest chairman wanting a quick return on his investment.
  2. What about the £5 million a year he would in wages at a time when we are trying to lower budget.
  3. Everton's League positions under Moyes: 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th. That is with a a lack of funds. 6 out of 8 seasons under Moyes, Everton have finished above us. O'Neill walked out he was not sacked. The lack of funds thing is a smokescreen. He's had plenty of money to spend. O'Neill was forced out by the fans. The voices of discontent grew pretty loud over the course of his last season. Moyes got Everton from 17th in 2003/2004 to 4th place in 2004/2005 after spending less than £10 million on players. The summer window in 2009 was the last time he spent money but even then it was less than we paid for Bent.
  4. You forget how much he would want in wages and we need to stabilise the club and our finances. Lerner wants to club to be successful as a footballing team and as a business, Spending a large amount on Wages to a guy that could jump to a bigger club at the first chance is a big risk.
  5. Everton's League positions under Moyes: 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th. That is with a a lack of funds. 6 out of 8 seasons under Moyes, Everton have finished above us. O'Neill walked out he was not sacked.
  6. The last caller saying about why O Neill was not given the money we used to buy Bent was simple Lerner did not trust him with the money.
  7. We don't have much luck with non British managers. The 3 we have had are Venglos, O'Leary and Houllier.
  8. Got Samba for £400,000 and look at how good he is now. Lead Fulham to their second highest finish in the Premier League with the 4th best defence. Most crucial is he will bring stability which is what we need after the last 12 months, He like Moyes will go straight in and will not need to waste time getting settled in.
  9. Hughes will give us stability which is something we need, after the last 12 months. Also under him Fulham finished 8th their second highest finish ever and had the 4th best defence in the league, ok they did not score that many and they drew a lot of games but they do not have the attacking threat that we do.
  10. Mark Hughes has brought some great players during his time in management and not just the likes of Tevez, Barry, De Jong and Adebayor at Man City. He brought Christopher Samba for £400,000 and Ryan Nelson on a free transfer also signing Dembele and at Salcido Fulham
  11. Fulham finished 8th and Everton finihsed 7th so both Moyes and Hughes get their club above Villa spending less money. Hughes got Fulham 4 places higher than last season.
  12. Everton's League positions under Moyes: 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th. That is with a a lack of funds. 6 out of 8 seasons under Moyes, Everton have finished above us.

  14. 1 more goal for Fulham and Blues would need a result at Spurs to stay up
  15. Rumours are Hiddink to Chelsea is done so we have no chance of getting him
  16. Even if Wolves win we will still be 6 points above 18th with 9 points left.
  17. We need to win if results stay the same otherwise we are not safe by any means unless Blackpool lose
  18. They are 5th in the form guide and we are 7th, we got a point at Everton who are 4h but where second when we played them. They have only won 1 from the last 6 at home and are one of the worse team at home on form, although Stoke where with their away form
  19. The odds from SkyBet Moyes 8/11 Benitez 4/1 Allardyce 5/1 Hughes 7/1 MacDonald 8/1 Jol 8/1 McLaren 8/1 Eriksson 12/1
  20. Was it me our for the 1st goal did the ref makes Downing move 20 yards back from the touchline allowing Delap a free throw with no chance of blocking it. As it looked like Downing was not allowed to block the throw.
  21. They are the worst team in 1st half of games so they don't take the lead often so they cannot lose it as much.
