  1. It is alright saying get Ancelotti as it will show the ambition the club has but what is the point of ambition if the cash is not there to back it up. Say we wanted to be ambitious and go for CL we would need to spend more than the current 5 or 6 teams to catch up and the overtake them. Plus it will need higher wage costs at a time when revenues are going down in some areas and wages are over 75% turnover it may a massive risk to the clubs future
  2. He has not been at a club he can win things at. He got sacked at City for getting them to 5th with no influence on signings later in his reign.
  3. Has Hughes been at a club that has (a. been at a club good enough to win something i.e Fulham and Blackburn and been at a club long enough to build his own team Getting Fulham to 8th and Blackburn to 6th and 7th can be seen as a massive success for them.
  4. Fulham had the 4th best defence in the league last season.
  5. This is the man Randy... The man who has only got 14 votes out if 243 votes
  6. Can we still afford to pay £6 million a year on top of a wage budget that is still to high. It is putting the club at risk, if we sign him and we get to Europe we may not be allowed in it due to our wage budget being 70% of turnover even now.
  7. I suppose if we paid Chelsea they could get rid of any clause that may stop him joining but he was also on £6 million a year at Cheslea can we really afford that.
  8. Are we dismissing McLaren just because of what he did when England manager, He won the league with Twente who are almsot like the Aston Villa or Dutch football
  9. Their wages will still be more than say Moyes wages and compensation will be, can we afford it.
  10. Apart from his first season at Rovers. A Mark Hughes team has never finished in the bottom half of the table and his has managed Blackburn and Fulham. I cant see why if we get him it would be a bad decision their is far worse managers we can have on that list.
  11. Mark Hughes led Blackburn to a 6th and 7th place finishes, three cup semi finals. in 4 season's for a club liek Blackburn that is some going. He got Blackburn and Fulham into Europe and I think he could get us back there
  12. talkSPORT have just said what I have been saying we need to stabilise and rebuild.
  13. Mark Hughes - 1/2 Steve McClaren - 7/2 Roberto Martinez - 7/2 Rafa Benitez - 5/1 David Moyes - 5/1 Kevin Macdonald - 20/1 Carlo Ancelotti - 20/1 Walter Smith - 20/1 Louis Van Gaal - 25/1 Martin Jol - 25/1 Slaven Bilic - 33/1 Gianfranco Zola - 33/1 Frank Rijkaard - 33/1 Jurgen Klinnsmann - 33/1 Sven Goran Erikksson - 33/1 Ray Wilkins - 40/1 Didier Deschamps - 40/1 Gus Hiddink - 40/1 Martin O Neill - 40/1 Fabio Capello - 50/1
  14. Not a bad shout, we need someone like Hughes or Moyes or a young manager like Poyet or Martinez someone who wants to be successful with Villa a not just be there for a quick buck
  15. I meant stability for a season or two, We need a manager who will stay and build a team slowly again, It took City 2 years with a infinite of funding to make the Champions League. If you think we can make the CL next season or even the season after you are deluded with our finances it would take 3 or 4 seasons at least to make it. How many more years of 'Stability' do you want? Clubs seeking 'Stability' have no ambition. I never mentioned CL although I think those words were mentioned as part of the 5 year plan when RL took charge. Do you think the owners of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs, Liverpool want 'Stability' for a year or two as their aspiration/objective for their respective clubs? Reading all the comments about 'Stability' makes me wonder whether we are any better than Stoke, Bolton, Fulham etc. as this is the sort of aspiration/objective I would expect from them. If Villa fans accept and expect 'Stability' as the norm and never aspire to anything greater then what's the point? Have you seen the last 12 months no stability means you dint get to where you want to be. You need a stable base to build from, I guarentee you even if we had Mourinho in charge we would still not make the CL in 2 years The last 12 months have nothing to do with 'Stability'. The season was defined by a series of unplanned and unforeseeable events. By the way, I don't recall ever mentioning making the CL within 2 years. People need to look beyond the end of the nose in front of their face and think outside of the box and then they just might see that having positive aspirations can make things possible. Was Houllier kind of outside the box, Fine if you want a big name manager who will then leave at the first chance and then we are back to square 1. O'Neill was not really a big name when we got him and he got us 3 top 6 finishes, Ferguson and Wenger where not big names when hey joined United and Arsenal We finished 9th and have a wage budget that is too high you need to be realistic who we can get.

  17. Who would not want this passion on the touchline and in charge of some of the moaners form this season

  19. Young will still leave who ever we had in charge. Ancelloti would be a gamble as if we don't finish top 6 or 4 it would of backed fired. Also someone like Ancelotti could jump ship to a bigger club at any time.
  20. Hughes and Moyes would bring the stability we need at the moment after the last 12 months. Anyone else would be a gamble. After a season or 2 even Moyes and Hughes can get us to wear we want to be if they are backed by the board and the fans. We need a long term vision not a fancy quick fix. Whoever Lerner hires some people wont be happy, it is his best interest that we do well on and off the pitch, So he will make the decision he thinks is bets for the club and that is all we ask
