Premier League table since Feb 1st (Lambert's last 25 games). We was bottom of this for his first 25 games with just 21 points. If we repeat the last 25 games we will be top 10 this season easy. Yes performances have not been great but we are still picking up points which is a massive positive.
Last 13 games of last season - 20 points when the majority of fans said we played great football
Beat Sunderland and we would of taken 18 points from the first 13 this season when we have not played as we did last season
We have only lost 3 league games away from home in the whole of 2013 so our away from shopws we can beat anyone, also the last league game Steer played he kept a clean sheet vs West Brom
With the games we have had, one extra win and we would of been in a fantastic position, Scored the pen last week or the red card was given today we could of been on 16 points and in the top 8.
Presume you mean 3 clean sheets in a row away from home? I look at it as not scored in 4 and only 2 points from a possible 12 but your stats are interesting and positive. However, Lambert dropped a clanger in the summer by not signing a creative attacking midfielder and instead signing 2 big strikers. i did mean away from home, we are 4th in the away table yet 18th in the home so we have the players to do well in the league. Hull, Spurs, west Ham and Everton are all in the top 6 for clean sheets this season so are tough teams to break down, we are ahead of Arsenal and United in that table who would of thought that at the start of the season.
3 clean sheets in a row away from home, first time we have done that since 2010, it seems Lambert has got us playing more negative to stop us conceding it has worked away from home but we are now to negative. Compare the 9 games we have had against teams from last season 2012/13 - 3 points 22 goals conceded 2013/14 - 10 points 12 goals conceded
Well after 24 games last season we had 20 points, that is another 15 games we had 20 points so we have 15 games to get 11 points to be ahead of where we was last season
Our home form has been a problem for a while
2009/2010 our best season under O'Neill. 27 points at home, 32 away from home, we had the 3rd best away record that season infact 3 of the last 8 seasons we have got more points at home than away, MON's first 2 seasons and the year under Houllier. The problems at home are lot deeper than just Lambert and his team selections.
In 2013 we have lost just 3 games away from home out of 13 picking up 20 points (Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal)
I agree with this. The result is frustrating but we played the right way today -- not on the counter, not holding out for a draw, not hoofball. I would add that all we needed was an in-form Benteke, and an in-form Agbonlahor, and an in-form Weimann. Lots of good chances went to waste today.
We are always chasing games that is the problem we have only scored first once in 9 games, The one game we did score first we won, today was weird because we started well for once.
Is this thread for real In the first 10 league games, we will of played Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton, 6 of the top 7 last season, we have beaten Arsenal and Norwich who have lost just 2 at home in 2013 and apartfrom tonight we have not lose by more than a goal.
Clark started every game we kept a clean sheet in last season and so far this season. 176 minutes with Clark - 2 goals conceded, 214 minutes without Clark - 4 goals conceded
It was Clark and Baker who got us our last clean sheet which came at the end of a run of 3 clean sheets at home
