  1. You think Carrick is worth £16 million then? If Milner is worth £24m, Carrick is worth £16m without doubt.
  2. Have you ever seen Michael Carrick play? Yes thanks, oh right he's good enough for United but not for the Villa? This time last year, everyone was turning their nose up at the prospect of Richard Dunne joining the club. Who feels that way now?
  3. Frankly, I think you are prepared to sell us a bit short. We don't have too many assets with which we can screw money out of the CL clubs if that is what Lerner says we need to do. We must surely ask for more than £24m? And Carrick + £8m would leave us distinctly down on the deal in my view.I understand what you're saying, but I think that we could cause more harm than good by putting a big fee on him. We were asking for £18m for Barry 2 years ago when he was already an England regular, can we really ask for more than £24m for Milner who there are still possible question marks about even being in the world cup squad? (albeit small ones). As for the Carrick part of my post, I think he would be a terrific player for us, he has an eye for a defence splitting pass that I think Gabby would thrive on. He's gone off the boil a little bit this season, but MON's main strength is man-management and look at how he has revived Richard Dunne's career.
  4. I would accept a bid of around £24m for Milner. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a fantastic player for us, but some of the posters on here make him out to be World Player of the Year!!! I wouldn't say for one minute that he is the easily the best player at the club like some are making out. If United came in with an offer of say £8m plus Carrick, I would be happy with that as I think he would offer us that creativity through the middle of the park that we currently lack.
  5. Fair play to MON, that is the exact team that I would've picked!! I think 4-5-1 is the perfect way to bring Delph into the side. I was sure that Carew would start, and that we would get stuffed, but now I'm quite optimistic!
  6. I think it's very simple - we play 4-4-2 with an injured Heskey, or a horribly off-form Carew, we get turned over or we go 4-5-1 with Sidwell or Delph in the side and we stand a chance of getting something from the game. United are in cracking form at the moment, and I also think they have that little extra incentive after our win at Old Trafford in December. A point is the best I'm hoping for!
  7. Totally agree, it's amazing how Downing coming in and moving Jimmy into the middle, along with Heskey getting a regular place has had such a positive impact on the way we've played as of late. I think we'll win by a goal, but I'd love to see us stick 4 or 5 past them, especially as it's sky. It would definitely send a message out to everyone!!
  8. Who would I rather play in the final if we fet through? Citeh, without doubt!! I don't blame Gareth Barry for leaving, but I would quite enjoy our first major trophy in 14 years coming at his expense, and it would be great for Dunney as well!
  9. They were the worst team I saw at Villa Park last season, and that includes the part-timers we played in the Uefa Cup!!!
  10. Hi General! A very good friend of mine is studying sports science, and he would really like the opportunity, if possible, to visit Bodymore Heath to see how our guys do things - training plans, nutrition etc. I don't know who we would need to get in touch with to arrange this, but if you could be of any assistance it would be really appreciated. Many thanks Woody1000
  11. I've got a feeling that we're going to end up 6th, I don't think that MON will get in the players he wants in this window, and I can see our form suffering for it. Arsenal have a bit too much quality about them to carry on their recent poor form, and I don't like the way Everton keep picking up 3 points and are lurking dangerously, just behind us. I see us finishing on about 65-68 points, but as I said earlier, I think it will be 6th place :-(
  12. Really like it Thunder, at least it's not just ripping off a song sung by another Premier League club (We're robbing it from Aussie Rules instead!!!)
  13. A four letter word beginning with 'C' and rhyming with hunt.
  14. I will do what I can to get that going in the Holte on Derby day Stevey!
  15. Hi General, I was just wondering if the club had any plans for another pre-season tour in the U.S.A this summer? Or are any plans like that on hold until we know whether or not we will be playing in the Intertoto cup?
  16. Hi General, I just thought I would let you see a post from a Manchester United supporter on another forum that I use which shows how NOT to do things. Basically, all United ST holders have to give their credit card details to the club and are charged for any cup tickets that United play at home. The worst thing is that the person involved is afraid to take it to the media in case his ST gets terminated. I found this to be absolutely appalling and I will never be travelling to Manchester United for an away fixture again as I refuse to line the pockets of a club that would treat loyal supporters like that. The only positive that I took from reading that post was that it made me realise how lucky we are to have Randy, yourself and the rest of your team on board who would NEVER treat loyal ST holders in such a disgusting way.
  17. General, I don't know if this has been asked before but I was wondering if the club was going to have any sort of official send-off for Mark Delaney? I for one feel very sorry for the guy who had his career cut short wearing the Claret and Blue at the relatively young age of 30, and I would like the chance to show my appreciation to him and say a proper goodbye, I'm sure there are many other Villa fans who feel the same. Maybe you could tie it in with getting Juan Pablo Angel over? Hope your back is on the mend!! Thanks Woody1000
  18. Hi General, Woody1000 here. I know that you have probably heard this thousends of times but I just wanted to say how great it is that somebody as busy as yourself takes the time to speak to us fans and give us a platform to voice any feedback, be it good or bad. There is a lot of talk these days about foreign ownership being bad for football in this country but what Randy, yourself and the rest of the board have done since Randy took over last year have been nothing short of phenomenal and is a fine example to set to any current or perspective owner be they British or foreign! It's a shame that you are not able to make the game on Sunday but hopefully you will be there in April for the return fixture. Thank you Woody1000 p.s Get Well Soon!
  19. Why not offer Breakfast at VP at 9am for all fans with a ticket for the Blues game? Then that will fill all our fans up so they don't need to spend any money on food at The Sty, thus stopping more money going into SHA's pockets.
