  1. However unlikely, I would LOVE us to sign Mauro Zarate! He would definitely get the fans out of their seats, and give us a few attacking options. Probably it's the usual 'Mirror bollocks' though! :-(
  2. I can't wait for him to be some other clubs liability, preferably Sunderland.
  3. I think we're all going to have to take a 'leap of faith' as supporters this season, and rely on the fact that Lambert has superior football knowledge than all of us, when it comes to some of the transfer dealings. I know they don't look good on paper, but I just think that these are the sort of players that PL likes to work with, and if I'm honest I would rather have those sorts of players here, who are honored to wear the claret and blue than players just here for the money. This could all be a disaster, and Randy might have to buy his way out of it again, but it could be a wonder stroke. Only time will tell......
  4. I'm unsure if this is wise to be bringing in so many players who have never played in the top flight before, especially when we have started poorly and fans are desperate for a pick-up in form. I'm not saying by any means that they are not good enough because they don't play in the Premier League, but it's got to be a real culture shock for some of these lads to be lining up against some of the best players in the world after playing in the lower leagues last season. I hope I'm wrong, and they shove my words down my throat!
  5. I read, and re-read your post, and I'm pretty sure it was all positive! ;-) That's the spirit!! UTV!!! It hasn't all been wiped out of me just yet. I know at the end of the day mate that you are just passionate about our club!

  7. I would take that Nursey striker link with a pinch of salt - its the Mirror after all! This transfer window is getting depressing!
  8. The more I think about it, the more I think that Lambert does not know what his best 11 is, which is understandable considering his short time at the helm. I think we need to give him until Xmas at least before we start panicking.
  9. Does anyone think that the problem getting players in is that players don't want to come here? Are we a sinking ship?
  10. Jesus, this place is getting bad! We are only 2 games into a new season, and we still have the best part of a week to bring in players. The 2 questions that I ask those cussing Randy is do any of you think that Paul Lambert would've come to us from Norwich if the only transfer kitty he had was whatever he could make through player sales? And do you think he would risk his reputation on that? I'm pretty sure that Lambert is the type of guy who would tell Lerner where to stick his job if the goalposts were moved in any way.
  11. Out of interest, was Randy at the game today? I hope he saw that 'performance'!
  12. I just don't think I will ever warm to him - he never plays the ball at the right time, and just runs down blind alleys. I feel he is a detriment to our team. Would not be unhappy at all if he was moved on!
  13. I hope (and this might just be naive optimism) that today's result has shown what needs to be done in the remaining week of the transfer window. I understand that wages have to be taken into consideration, but we could seriously be looking at a proper relegation scrap this time - literally sitting in the bottom 3 for the majority of the season, unless we bring in at least 3 or 4 players of decent quality. Randy, it's over to you my friend........
  14. Clapping the away fans? Irrelevant, a bit like your opinion on anything!
  15. I'd be pleased with Carroll and Adam in, if we can get Johnson as well I will probably jizz in my pants!
  16. I'm glad Baker is in at LB, adds height at set-pieces similar to Cuellar at RB under MON. To be honest, you look at that West Ham side and they look beatable. I fancy 2-1 to us.
  17. I can see Holman becoming a popular player due to his industry, but from what I've seen he seems a little bit lacking in the technical ability department. That said, I can see him popping up with quite a few goals from midfield, which has been a problem for us these last few years.
  18. Fantastic acquisition. Hopefully, he can unearth a few gems for us as he is bound to be very well connected. I see that even this is being used as a stick to beat Lerner with though!
  19. You make a fair point, but people are not moaning that the lack of transfer business could cost us a CL place - it's because we could find ourselves in a relegation fight again. I know it's not as simple as it is on Football Manager to just come in and transform the squad in one summer, but it seems like Randy is hoping that PL will get the most out of a fairly limited squad. Hopefully I'm wrong, but after the initial optimism from when PL came in, I'm feeling more negative about the upcoming season by the day. We won't be in relegation trouble again. We could be. What if Darren Bent breaks his leg, or gets a bad knee injury? You saw what a few injuries did to us last year, surely you can't blame all of last year on McLeish?

  21. An excellent signing? Decent for a season, but an absolute liability most of the time for the following 2. A class act? Never. Makes far too many mistakes to ever be considered a class act, and has done for all his career - you can ask any citeh fan, and they'll tell you that as much as they loved him, he always had a mistake in him. He should be released if another club are interested, but I suspect he will stay and pick up his large wage for one more season as this is his last big payday unless he goes stateside.
  22. Quite pleased with the first half, we seem to be a lot more assured in possession than we were last season. Still lacking a little bit of sharpness here and there, but I thought that Delph has looked pretty lively. I do agree with others about the FB's We definitely need to replace Warnock with some new blood. It will be interesting to see who PL brings on at half-time, Ireland will surely get a run out at least for the last 30 mins or so.
  23. If this is it regarding transfer business, then I am going to be very underwhelmed to say the least. I don't know why, but I'm just clinging on to the fact that PL is an ambitious guy, and surely wouldn't have taken the Villa job unless he had the tools in place to succeed? Also I was excited by Richard's posts where it had been implied to him that a decent transfer kitty was available. I understand that we have to be sensible when it comes to the wage bill, but with the squad as it stands, we are a couple of injuries away from a 3rd struggling season in a row.
  24. Unfortunately, that's the Villa BJ10!
