  1. Fred West and John Christie might have been a better comparision as Jack the Ripper is probably a myth anyway, the main reason where we are where we are is because we have given away too many points from winning positions. The defence hasn't been good enough, prob the midfield too but Westwood stands out as the one that has been consistently our best midfield player. To come from Crewe and step up like he has done is pretty remarkable, not as remarkable as Platt ....
  2. Incidentally how the heck has Welbeck sneaked onto the nominations for Young Player of the year - he's scored two goals this season. Two. Same as Brett Holman, only he's played twice as many games - a striker, with two goals in 39 games - Young player of the year? Madness. Yes totally agree. I don't think he's that good either. If you cant score more than 2 goals in a season playing for Man Utd then you must be poor.
  3. never ever used .net myself. I just started out with plain old asp and iis with access database and vbscript. Then why not move to Linux and php with MySQL its cheaper and easier to learn.
  4. We have to face facts, we don't generate enough money to pay high wages. We're about 8th in terms of income aren't we?
  5. Interesting point, would he have played as well in that first half against United when they were rampant. Difficult decision for Lambert to make I think.
  6. Collins has had a pretty good season for West Ham hasn't he?
  7. I thought he was the best player in the usa team, maybe with the exception of Donovan, but didn't look the part when he came to Villa

    Relegation

This ^^^^^^^ 100x times over Much as I want us to stay up, the scenario that we escape relegation by the skin of our teeth this time - but are much improved next season - wots it based on ? - The idea that our players take a 2 month break, then come back significantly better players ? - Im not buying it. I can see no solid evidence that next season would be that much better than this - Our chairman has probably been to 5 games this season - hardly seems like he has the enthusiasism to loosen the purse strings to any great degree So whilst I want us to stay up - until we have a chairman who shows some degree of interest - I fear we will continue to flounder..............................in whatever division... I do as we have improved as the season has gone along. Before the West Ham home game I thought we had very little chance of staying up, now we have a slightly better than even chance but I don't feel confident at all. Sunderland is going to be the most nervous game so far this season. If we win we will be in a good position, a draw doesn't help us that much, unless Wigan loose to Spurs and a defeat I don't want to think about.
  9. A busy forum like this must use up a lot of b/w
  10. It depends what you want really. £11,000 would get you 10 days of my time. Are you Stephen Ireland? If I was it'd be more like £11k for 1 day. Sadly I see nowhere near that amount, that's just how much the company I work for bill our clients for my time. The point being web development can get very expensive depending on what you want, and as always, you generally get what you pay for. God no wonder I am skint because that is what I do and don't charge a fraction of that. Putting together a site for what Big_John wants would not take that long as its pretty simple to do.

  12. I don't care about stats but I do care about a lack of respect towards someone when they have a different opinion. We all see things with different eyes. Lambert does rate Bannan else he would not have made so many starts this season. He obviously thinks there's no room for Delph and Bannan in the same squad but Lambert doesn't get everything right does he. And I think Delph got injured or suspended then Bannan would come straight back into the team just like he did at Reading.
  13. Yes I really like Lowton. Really good footballing right back. I think the two lads from the Sheffield academy might contest the England Right back position for years to come. Obviously Walker has bags more pace.

    Joe Bennett

I would prefer Baker where he is tbh. Clark is a liability next to Vlaar, so why not put him at left back? Agree with this, shame we didn't try it earlier in the season as its a high pressure change now...not that keeping Bennett in is any good. Because Clark has played at LB too and was awful, positionally weak and far slower than Bennett. Leave the back four as is shore up the midfield that will be more beneficial. Playing against Valencia and Rafael is very tough and only one goal last night came from that side and even that could have been averted had Guzan claimed. The lad didnt play well but he was no worse than pretty much all of them and the formation made things very hard for everyone too. Sunderland will be a different proposition. Exactly Guzan makes prob his first error of judgement this season and people blame Bennett. I do not like Baker at left back. He cant get up and down the pitch, limited ability on the ball and cant cross. Like when we had Cuellar at full back.
  15. If he doesn't figure in the last 4 games I think you will get your wish. That would be a shame in my opinion but we have to support the players in the team. I don't know if Bannan will make it elsewhere maybe its his size or there's a flaw in his character but he reminded me of one of fav ever villa players when he first got in the side Alex Cropley. similar size and a scot.
  16. To be honest £11,000 sounds totally extortinate
  17. Matt Kendrick Evening mail marked him only 5 for the Fulham game. Baker or Nzog were motm I think.
  18. Yes but all his good work was undone by the own goal and his woeful finish. Not his fault if we go down but those two points lost against Fulham could be the difference between us staying up or going down, Huge pressure on us now!
  19. Yes we can all pick out moments in games when players do something stupid and actually I do rate Delph although he cost us 2 points against Fulham. I just thought at times yesterday he was very negative with his passing and when he did go for the long ball it usually went astray. He works hard, he makes lots of tackles and gives lots of fouls away too. He needs a bit of Westwood's composure I think.

    Joe Bennett

To be fair to Bennett he had a tough night last night coping with Valencia and Rafael. He was left exposed as well with little support. I'd stick with him. Anyway Baker has been good at centre back and he isn't a natural left back. Bennett offers more going forward and with our lack of width we need attacking fullbacks.
  21. I've seen every game this season and just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn't mean you need to be disrespectful
  22. Yes but most of Delph's passes went backwards. Anybody can do that
  23. What awful purchases has Lambert made? Benteke, Lowton and Westwood have all been successes. Vlaar, Bennett had difficult starts but have looked better lately. El Ahmadi played well last night but I know that's not enough, Holman maybe and Sylla haven't seen enough of him to judge yet.
  24. You don't have to have a mobile version if you don't want but I made that suggestion because Big_John said it didn't look too good on mobiles. He could use media queries but again it takes a bit of learning and if you don't use Dreamweaver then its not so easy.
