  1. If you compare this squad to what Belgium have at their disposal there's no way England are going to do anything in 2014 even if we qualify.
  2. We don't know the man, so we don't know what he'll do
  3. Yes which surprises me. He did come close to 20 league goals in a season 4 times and did get 28 goals in a season twice. His body failed him, he played too much when he was younger. Shame because he was a top striker.
  4. The season hasn't finished yet. I think we shall know more next week but I wouldn't worry about Weimann.
  5. Adoration of the fans? Respect for Lambert? Not all footballers are soulless words removed. LOL - Money Talks Yes, and if we offer him good money and we don't get a ridiculous offer then he'll stay. Boring, boring negativity in yet another thread. I guess now we're safe, people have to have something to moan about Yes I agree Stefan
  6. Yes but I'd like to keep him for one more season. I guess you can go back to previous eras where we have sold our best players and rebuilt and done better. Like when we sold Andy Gray to Wolves, we spent the money on Peter Withe, Kenny Swain, Tony Morley and won the league and another time we sold David Platt to Bari for 5.5 mil and invested the money in Dean Saunders, Atkinson, Staunton, Houghton etc and came 2nd But that was then I think its more difficult these days to do that.
  7. Please refer to my post on page 3 of this thread. It's not about Lawrenson vs Villa, it's Lawrenson vs football. He's a dreadful commentator, a terrible pundit and his lack of knowledge in the game is unprecedented. The BBC stand religiously by this behemoth of inadequacy as if he is the only presenter available, while Sky have picked Gary Neville straight off the pitch who is doing an infinitely better job, despite being many years younger than the aging scouser. Lawrenson is an advert for Prozak! To be honest all the BBC pundits are crap. I'd rather have an ex bluenose Steve Clarridge, I agree about Gary Neville he's a class above
  8. If we get an offer for £30m then I think we'd be nuts not to take it. I think that's exactly the way the football club should be run, buy a player, get £23m profit in one season, buy another 5 players. Lambert could finish building a team on that much and it's clear that is the way he wants to do things. If we keep selling our best players we will never make progress. We might be nuts to sell him for 30mil because if he ends up leading scorer in the world cup, and I think Belgium will do very well, 30 mil will be nothing compared to what we'll get after that.
  9. The golden generation were good but they weren't good enough to win a world cup. They should have done better than quarter-finals every 2 years though. Don't know maybe that was their level.
  10. I don't think any of what you have said can be substantiated by looking at history or fact. Like him or not, Randy has spent a good deal more on the club than he's ever got back. Family trust fund? What nonsense. We've sold our players only when they have wanted to leave, and we've got good prices for them. I'll criticise Lerner for poor decision making but he's certainly not skimming off the club and he's not selling our assets on the cheap either. yes I totally agree with you Patrick. He just wanted to cut the wage bill because it was unsustainable. I really don't think he will see Benteke for 25mil I believe he gambled & he lost-Is only motive now is to recoup as much of his outlay as possible. The wage bill has been cut to ridiculous proportions in no time whatsoever. We got away with it this season but if we carry on with this policy,it will catch us out eventualy-Just ask Wigan. 20mil spent last summer would suggest you are wrong! We shall see.
  11. I actually think Beckham was slightly overrated myself. He could shoot and cross a ball but he didn't have a lot else going for him except a pretty face. I certainly wouldn't rate him up there with former greats like Booby Moore, Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Charlton, Bryan Robson and Gazza
  12. The golden generation were good but they weren't good enough to win a world cup.
  13. I've gone for 3 main signing but there could be others like Bowery just to boost the squad.

  15. Yes hes been with us since he was a young lad, I don't see him going anywhere else.
  16. I think its important to give him a better deal even if he doesn't sign an extension.
  17. The only thing that worries me is that as hes only on 20k a week it wouldn't take that much for a club to pay off his contract. I think the fact we have him on a long term contract is a little meaningless really, but I could be wrong.
  18. Not a good day for the bears, but Jim Troughton did carry his bat. Too many games early season for my liking. At full strength Warwickshire would walk the league. But with injuries, England call-ups and lions call-ups our squad is being severely tested. Hopefully we'll come good in the second half of the season. Don't think we'll do anything in the pro 40 this season though and we never do anything in the t20.
  19. Barry, really? What are we trying to do at Villa. I thought we were building something, something new and with great prospects. As much as I loved Barry when he was at Villa, he is way past his best. Yes his experience would be an asset, but not in a playing capacity for me. No thanks. My thoughts exactly, Barry is over the hill & peddlin'. Serious question. I wonder how many people say this yet would have Petrov as first name on the teamsheet if he hadn't suffered his illness? I honestly don't think Petrov would have been a regular in the team.
  20. Its been a strange season really with runaway winners and the top 5 miles ahead of everybody else. Then you have a very poor bottom 2 and not much difference between the top half and the ones near the bottom. Its not been a vintage season but its been an interesting one for us because we always felt we were up against it to stay up.

hardcore lefties call him too conservative... and hardcore righties call him an outright communist, whoever is the president is going to get stick. I just know he's much much better than Bush

Yes like the health care bill that expanded health care to provide affordable health insurance to low and middle income families is a real right wing policy. Look at all his right wing bills that the republicans have blocked since he became president http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/50177069
  23. Some might say the lib dems aren't a real party anymore.
