  1. If you go back further than that there's been a few that have. David Platt for instance, Andy Gray eventually went to everton and won a championship and cup
  2. Nobody has actually made an offer for him yet, I think we are all getting worried about nothing. He will sign.
  3. He's the one that started things off at Swansea and Wigan are a very small club so to judge him on a small win percentage is very unfair. I agree that Everton is where we can really judge him now.
  4. Yes but he still kept them in the division for many years and won the FA Cup. Great choice for everton
  5. Yes I'm not bothered if we get players called up for England or not!
  6. Some footballers need to be loved. He's not universally liked at Villa. A lot of people of this forum think hes crap, although most of my supporter friends who have watched him come through the levels think hes a really talented player. I think he has more natural ability than Ashley Westwood but that doesn't count for everything. I hope he finds a club that will love him and he does really well because i do rate him as a player. I think he has a little bit of the Alex Cropley about him and hes one of my all time fav players.
  7. He loves the club he will stay.
  8. I would say Rimmer in Lieu of Burridge and it would have finished higher than 4th.... both great teams. ps someone beat me to that comment, but didn't read it until after i posted. Yes possibly but I think the defence was a bit weak as well. Gidman was good going forward but not the best defender. Phillips was a converted midfield player and Saunders soon realised Nicholl wasn't quite up to it.
  9. Holloway is a bit of an idiot but I find him quite amusing and he will brighten the premiere league up. No doubt they will buy quite a few players. To be honest until every club has finished their summer transfer activity no-one knows whats going to happen, at least at the lower end of the table anyway. I expect with the extra tv money there will be a lot more transfer activity than usual.
  10. Yes he might be worth 8-10 million but dont think we'll get it and the club will be happy to get him off the wage bill.
  11. very true but the HMRC are onto them.
  12. Yes possibly Cardiff. He would also fit into Swansea's style of football quite nicely. Whittingham has done well since leaving us. I know he lost his form the backend of last season but hes regularly been there best player and has a good goalscoring record. I think Oneill was wrong to let him go.
  13. Yes was 50p, at least it means football is generating a lot of taxes for this Country, so not all bad.
  14. That side also had 3 LC semi finals & 3 finals which took its toll.I'm loathe to chose between them as they are both legendary. The 77 side was more exciting but the 81-82 team was a better allround team. Des Bremner was a very underrated player. he did a lot of the donkey work in midfield. We talk about the kids now but Gary Shaw was 19/20 when we won the league and he scored 20 odd goals that season. Cowans I rate as our all time best player. He came back when Taylor was manager and was brilliant then. He could hit a 50 yard pass on the volley. If you watch the old clips he took freekicks with either foot. Totally two footed player. I don't even know what his better foot was. He would have been good in the modern game.
  15. Yes but we will loose Benteke at some point anyway. The trouble is if we are going to replace Weimann with someone better we are going to have to pay a lot of money in transfer fee, and pay a lot more than 40k a week in wages. We simply cant afford to loose him in my opinion!
  16. Gary Shaw had the finest touch I've seen from an English striker. Same age as Linekar but he was well ahead of him at that time. I was there at forest when he did his knee, effectively ending his career.
  17. Yes but Boycott waged his 2 houses on England getting the runs against Pakistan a couple of years ago and they were bowled out by Ajmal and Rehman. Root is a great talent but silly comment from Boycott. Cook was younger when he got into the England team and HE'S STILL ONLY 27/28 NOW. So he has still got 8 years left in test cricket, he could beat Tendulkars record.
  18. So the deal as real cost us the whole Milner fee
  19. Yes but if we loose a player like Weimann then what does that say about us?
  20. Sorry but Its a bit pointless trying to redefine our current wage structure when our wages have to be inline with what other clubs are paying. I think Weimann was on 15k a week and he's be offered 20k a week. I've no idea what he is worth but I think 20k seems very low for a player of his potential. We have to keep him simple!
  21. or Like Black Holes In The Sky
  22. I think we will let him go on a free, anything just to get him off the payroll.
  23. Palacios cost 6 million, Jerome 4 million, Stoke City are one of the few premiere league clubs debt free. So I think for a club of their size to achieve what they have done, FA Cup finalists, Europa league without going into debt is quite an achievement. Unlike Oneill, Pullis has spent wisely.
