  1. Yes few players leave a club come back years later and have another great spell. Great range of passing, two footed, great ball skills, tenacious in the tackle. Without a doubt Platty benefited from having Sid playing alongside him. It was all about Hoddle when Cowans was playing and Brian Robson. Other midfield players of note were Bruce Rioch - a bit like Hitzlsburger with the left foot but was better allround player, Mortimer, - another who was unfortunate not to play for England, Alex Cropley - great left foot, tenacious in the tackle., Platt the ultimate goalscoring midfield player. We've had a few others since but not quite in the same league
  2. Nadal - I'm firmly in the Djokovic camp lol KP - hate that style of batsman Ashley Cole
  3. There's a slight difference to Walker as Walker was 19/20 and his experience with us greatly benefited Spurs so he could be their first choice next season. I'm not sure Bertland is part of Chelsea's long-term plans so there is a chance we could sign him permanently.
  4. true but they are there just to help us stay up, not for the long term.
  5. A solid loan signing who will strengthen our defence this season. It does show Lambert's lack of faith in Luna or Bennett. Its different to Holt because Holt was signed as replacement for backup striker Kozak and won't walk straight into the team wheare as Bertland will.
  6. Yes i saw his debut but can't remember who it was against now! Could it be West Brom. Same age as Linekar and although Linekar had more pace Shaw was way ahead of him in terms of footballing ability.
  7. In my lifetime of watching Villa there have been two great finishers that have played for us Gary Shaw and David Platt. We talk about our young players nowadays but Gary Shaw was 19 in our championship year. We've never had a better young player. So unfortunate with injuries.
  8. Er How old was Withe when he signed for us? 28 but there was an outcry from many villa fans
  9. yes me too. Best i have seen him play in a long while!
  10. I'm ashamed to be associated with that idiot, you've got a one off, good luck Grant.` yes totally vile
  11. Yes he dribbles well but a lot of the time it goes nowhere. Maybe we are too static, or maybe its lack of awareness of players around him! I was dissaponted with that shot in the first half and the way he lost the ball for the 2nd goal.
  12. Thought he played well second half.
  13. As long as he's just a loan signing until the end of the season i have no problem with it. He did a great job for Lambert at Norwich! Yes he was asked about him and he confirmed his interest.
  14. Yes no way do i want Bacuna to go back to fullback, he's much better in midfield
  15. A much better 2nd half. Glad to see Benteke score at last.
  16. All I want is a Benteke goal to give him some confidence.
  17. When you set out to defend then you concede its hard to change the way you play. Baker going off didn't help. Thought Guzan should have saved the Wilshre shot and Delph at fault for the 2nd.
  18. I can't remember such optimism on this forum since the Man City home game
  19. Good to know! I was a big Japan fan in the 80s and I think he helped with the Gentleman take polaroids album and then i got into YMO and there was the soundtrack to "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" of which he co-starrred in alongside David Bowie.
