At night, in a gated community, presumably not a place with lots of heavy traffic or other night-time noise. I was on a quiet railway platform this afternoon and could hear someone speaking into his phone about 60 metres away, not shouting, just talking. Sometimes at night people sit on a bench about 60 metres away from my bedroom window, and I hear them talking. I'd say my hearing is reasonably good, nothing out of the ordinary. I'd be very surprised if a loud scream couldn't be heard from some distance, at night, without much other noise going on. Especially since screaming is a signal we're wired to respond to. at the initial hearing that witness was 600m away ... she seems to have moved some distance since Feb 2013 wasn't it the defence that exaggerated the distance.

I watched a wee bit of it last night too. It was and remains utterly compelling viewing. I love the art style and the plot is riveting from start to finish. For something that looks like it was shot on an early camera phone it looks fantastic too. Some of the acting isn't the best, in particular the young girl. But it's a solid piece all the same. I thought it was older than it is actually and I'd forgotten Danny Boyle directed. Yes a long time since I've seen the film. Very similar beginning to John Wyndhams "The day of the triffids". which i guess has been ripped of many times. Cilian Murphy is my favourite Irish actor as well.

I watched a bit of it and I thougnt the prosecution trying to claim the witness couldn't distinguish between a female and male scream was a bit weak and also that she wouldn't be able to tell the difference between gun shots being fired and a cricket bat bashing a door. It was a bit farcical as well with the defence lawyer asking the questions in English Ms Burger replying in Africaan and the intepretor translating to English and then Ms Burger correcting the translation.
