Yep the plan was defo to injure both our main strikers and bring Holt in.
I think the point is that there must have been better strikers out there that we could have signed on loan.
There wasn't and certainly not one who knew the remit of probably sitting on the bench for 6 months unless Benteke snapped his achilles....
Better with no one. He had Helenius, or Robinson, or Weimann up front. All better options than Holt. I am embarrassed when he comes on.
Yes me too
The pressure has been on him this season. He really shouldn't have played so many games but there's been no options. I'm sure he will get his form of last season back again. We have to stick with our young players..
It really is down to the Fulham game for me - we need them to (ideally) lose but certainly drop points.
yes I think its between us and Fulham for that other spot.
Yes they were looking ok then three wickets in two overs has turned the game completely.
Pitch inspectors as well so Notts could end up with less points than they started
Good to see Wright back in form after overcoming a difficult back problem
I never got this type of mantra. There is no objective way the "game should be played". Football is a sport, the aim of which is to beat your opponents.
If both teams adopted the Mourinho way yesterday it would be a pretty dull match.
And its worse than Liverpool's diving how exactly?
Need I answer that?

I don't think even a Mcleish team would have adopted the time wasting and spoiling tactics that Mourinho did yesterday. Even early on in the game they were taking the ball into the corner of the pitch, taking ages over throw-ins and freekicks. Players lying on the floor feigning injury. If that type of football brings success then I will give up watching. At least Rodgers gets his teams to play the game in the spirit it should be played.
As most on here hate Liverpool then it doesn't matter.
I genuinely hope this is just trolling. McLeish's negative football generally *didn't* get the results which is why Small Heath were relegated and we finished with 38 points. Mourinho's football generally does get the intended results which is why he is the most successful manager of the last decade.
It was just an observation and Mcleish did have success at Blues. Top 10 finish the previous season and the first major trophy in their history. Winning the cup and injuries were the reasons they got relegated. Anyway i'm not going to keep defending Mcleish.
if you can't see the difference between the two and the way their respective teams have played the game then I suggest you stop watching football, or start. Whichever is applicable.
As a moderator of this fine forum I would have thought you would know better than to get personal. Yes point out I'm wrong but there's no need to insult me.
And I would suggest that you stop posting things to get a reaction. I don't believe for one minute you can't see a difference between McLeish and Mourinho.
Yes I'm aware of the difference..
You don't think Jose could have turned up at Liverpool, with players like Gerrard and Suarez and £100m to spend and made them title contenders by his second season? I do, I think that is exactly what he would do.
I wasn't aware that Rodgers had spent that much but no I don't think Mourinho could have achieved the same. Not saying he's a bad manager or anything because obviously he's not.
He'd have done it a different way that's all.

I'm not arguing Mourinho has won more or is the better manager but Mcleish was the most successful ever manager at Blues, winning their first major trophy and getting them their highest ever Premier League position. They achieved more under his time there than when they had Francis, Latchford and Burns. Would Mourinho have done any better at Blues? Basically Mcleish adapted the teams style of play to suit the players he had just like Mourinho.
He's taken over a club with a fantastic squad of players and hasn't improved them.
Compton bats at 3 for Somerset, and made a ton at Durham last week. He's similar to Trott, in so much as he's a nurdler, and doesn't tend to make his runs quickly. Worth giving him a go at 3, I'd say. Bell at 4 and Root at 5 wouldn't be a bad call either.
I don't think they will go back to compton. Ballance, Taylor?
