  1. We only have offspinners or legspinners we don't encourage bowlers to bowl the doosra. Over the years we haven't had many great spinners. To be fair Ajmal is a late developer. First I saw of him was in Pakistans infamous last series here. But he destroyed England in the UAE. Jeetan Patel has done well at warwickshire but he's not in the same league as Ajmal.
  2. Swann was quality too but Ajmal has about 8 different balls so i've been told. Ian Bell said he's the most difficult bowler he has ever faced and he faced Warne and Murali.
  3. We got murdered by Worcester tonight. Ajmal 4 overs for 10 runs. You have to do better than that against their premier bowler. Would rather see Trott play 4 day cricket if I am totally honest....
  4. Doesn't it stand to reason that the smaller the pool of players we have to choose from the less likely we are to succeed at international level? I think playing with players like Suarez, Aguero, tourre, RVP raises the level of our game but then you have the likes of Tonev and Luna who offer nothing. We have exactly the same pool of players to choose from that we would have if there were no foreigners. If the English players aren't good enough to keep their place ahead of Luna and Tonev, then they're not good enough to play for England. True but we have some talented kids at Villa who have been held back by the Tonevs and Luna's. I can see your point but some youngsters don't get the opportunity if they don't look exceptional. Would someone like David Platt have succeeded in this era? Then they're not good enough. It's not like we're scraping together 11 players for the national team is it? It means the players that make it in the premier league are better. They need to be better, they play with better, they learn from better. If they're not good enough then they play lower down the leagues. They're still there, available for selection. Fair enougn, we do have some good young players coming through. Its time to forget the older players now and invest in youth for the euros.....If Gerrard is still playing in the qualifiers then I will dispair.
  5. Well he is still very good at Wimbledon, last year he was suffering back problems. This year he's playing much better. My angle is Rafa possibly won't make the semi final in which case Federer has a great chance of making a final. Which means I'll get 3/1 on that and then have a 6/1 bet on Fed in the final. I can hedge by backing Djoko/Murray if it's them. I see angles, other people would see a bet on Federer to win Wimbledon as a belief from the punter that he will win. I see it as him getting to a position where I can trade profit / hedge bet. I think he might make the semi's. Rafa's knees are in a better state this year and have a feeling he will make the final. Of course i am always wrong as I predict Djokovic to win every tournament....

  8. I think you are wasting your money on Federer myself. I think his days of winning slams are over.
  9. yes great to see Trott play again... However have you see Jeets record in test cricket for New Zealand. Avg 48 and SR of over 90. I think county cricket is his level.
  10. Murray also have a true draw. Possible quarter final, if he gets that far against Dimitrov who just won queens, then Djokovic. Also fancy Raonic but not sure about him on grass. He said himself he's better on clay because he has more time to play his shots. He should hold his serve a lot but he won break too many serves.
  11. Thats so true. Everybody is raving about Barkley but he's only in his first full season and hasn't done enough for the media attention he is getitng.
  12. Its very easy to be critical of Hodgson after the event. Sterling was our best player against Italy so why wouldn't you start him for the Uruguay game. What other cbs would you pick? Yes Cole for Baines maybe but he's hardly played a game for Chelsea all season. Maybe he should have gone with Shaw because of his extra pace. I don't rate Welbeck! He hasn't got enough quality. We probably missed Townsend. He would have been a good option to come off the bench.....Maybe he should have picked Carrick because we lack that type of midfield player. But we dont have a world class player like Suarez. Two chances two goals. Rooney 3 great chances in this world cup and 1 goal.
  13. I think they were far better than they were against Costa Rica
  14. Absolute bollocks IMO. Suarez was only class for a matter of seconds, the rest of the game was hardly good from Uruguay but England couldn't finish their dinner let alone enough chances to win the game. suarez was superb tonight, two good goals and a constant threat. His all round performance tonight was brilliant, as for the rest of the uruguay teamn they are very average. Infact they were terrible at the back for most part, suarez and cavani are lethal. Cavani did not do a lot in terms of excitement but I think he played a decent game. Back to suarez, imo he played very well. I've seen him play a lot better but he was good tonight. A class player can turn it on whenever, and he did. Yes I'm a huge suarez fan. Yes me too. What other player would just come back from a knee op and score two goals in a world cup game.
  15. Probably 5 times as many people watched the game in England than live in Uruguay probably more than that. Uruguay only have a population just over 3 million.
  16. Well we just haven't got a world class player like Suarez. The difference between the sides...
  17. Suarez is the best player in the world for me
  18. Suarez won't last 90 minutes so theres still hope.
  19. Westwood would even do better than Gerrrard
  20. need to make some changes....Rooney needs to come off and put Sterling in the hole
  21. Very very poor first half from England... Has anybody played well for us that half.
  22. We don't know whats going to happen with the Italy v Costa Rica game so we have to win tonight...
  23. The African countries have brought nothing to this world cup so far.
