surely the article loses credibility by getting at least 4 names wrong I could have corrected the names but it was a post on my cricket forum which i thought made a lot of sense.

Considering the actual criminal offenses committed by some footballers, there has been a lot of hysteria in the media about Suarez. Was his offence really worse than the drink driving offenses committed by Tony Adams, Brian Robson, Paul Gascoine and others, was it worse than the dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident by Lee Hughes, or the assaults committed by Jonathan Woodhead and Lee Bowyer, or the rape committed by Chad Evans? Indeed at one time it seemed that been banned for drink driving was an essential pre requisite for been captain of the England cricket and football teams, with Graham Gooch, Mike Gatting and Ian Botham been banned during their time as England captain. Whilst the 9 match international ban is fair, to ban him from club matches is unfairly penalising his main employers who are in no way responsible for his actions whilst he is working for the Uruguayan FA.

Mertens missed an open goal but not the best of games. Belgium should be as fresh as daisies for the USA game though with all these players rested.

I doubt whether the Italian player is traumatised but I understand your view but a player can get away with deliberately hurting somebody with a flying tackle because tackling is part of the game and theres no way of proving he was intentionally trying to hurt the other player... Obviously biting cannot be tolerated but he does need pyscological help... I have never seen Suarez deliberately try to hurt another opponent through a tackle but he's obviously easily wound up and the Italians played on that, whilst the English players didn't because they are more honest footballers.

Yes a decent ban is in order but it not be better to insist his return is based on having treatment for what is something built into him. He has probably had the biting habit since he was a young child. Its easy to say what nasty horrible person and ban him for life but he offers so much to the game of football it would be ashame if he is lost to it.

Yes theres a lot of hypocrisy among the media. You can do an ott tackle and break someones leg and that is worth 3 games and you can bite someone, not even breaking the skin. The guy won't miss any games and they want the book thrown at him...

I'd say the fans are divided about Suarez. I love him as a footballer but he obviously has some major issues with regard to biting. I used to be married to a woman that used to bite me all the time.. It was an anger issue! He obviously can't help it
