  1. No it wasn't the reason. That happened before anybody knew Kim was ill..Kim called me to tell me the doctors coudn't do anything and a week later he was dead. .Kim had his own advertising business in London and then moved up to Shropshire and took over Spin Cricket magazine with George Dobell who works for cicinfo now and is the most knowledgeable county cricket journalist around...Kim also started my bearsfans forum with me as an alternative to the official one which no longer exists...
  2. I live in Sussex and knew of Kim through a couple of message boards. I never got to meet him and he's probably the only person who I have genuinely mourned without having met them. I had so much banter with him, he seemed like a top bloke. I might pop along to the last day tomorrow, in fact I served a Villa fan at work today who had made the trip down to Horsham, I wondered whether it might be anyone who posts on here. Probably a long shot. Yes I went to see him a few days before he died with a former Warwickshire player and a lady called Jane who I met through Kim. She had stage 3 ovarian cancer when i first met her 9 years ago and he helped her through it. Top bloke who I could never win an argument with...
  3. Kervezee looked great in his early days at Worcester. Is he getting back to his best now!
  4. As i wrote that Trott is out so theres still a possibility we could loose i guess if we get bowled out after lunch and then who knows what the wicket will be like on the final day...
  5. Its fitting that Trott gets his first come back hundred against Sussex. A good friend of mine died after a short illness in January. Kim Jones, editior of the spin magazine and beyond the boundary, A Warwickshire fan with close ties with Sussex and Trott's number 1 fan and friend..... Regarding a result, I can't see anything other than a draw...
  6. Late 60s was lower and when we got relegated in 87/88 Taylor took over and said the club was a shambles and I think we were getitng about 13k gates..

    Liverpool

Last season yes but who knows this season.
  8. 468 runs @ 40 in first class cricket this season, so not too bad...Its his keeping i am more concerned about...
  9. None but to be fair when i first saw Prior for Sussex at edbaston in 2005 he was a very poor keeper but he worked at his keeping and became decent and the will do the same with Butler.
  10. Yes Butler before Bairstow I think. Read and Foster are better keepers though but will they pick an interim, i don't think so...
  11. Matt Prior has stood down from International cricket for the rest of the summer because if fitness reasons.... Choices to replace him?
  12. Chalk another one up to the England coaches. Michael Vaughan reckons he will play Sunday and came very close to being picked at lords..
  13. My point is really about Chris Woakes. When he first came into the Warwickshire side at 18/19 i saw him bowl a spell at Cardiff of sustained swing bowling, moving the ball both ways. it was fantastic to watch. He gets into the England set up and he's told to bowl faster and so looses a little bit of what he used to have. If he had of bowled on that green pitch even bowling low 80s, getting the ball in the right place swinging it and seaming it both ways he would have skittled India out..A. If you have someone like Dale Steyn who can bowl 150 kmph plus and swing it like he does then thats a lethal combination but we don't... Alan Donald was then the bowling coach and at a club forum he said its when waokes plays for England not if..He was that good!
  14. Its come a little bit too late really and I hope Rooney isn't the next captain as his career is on its way down as well. Cahill maybe but is he guranteed a place in the side
  15. i think it was rediculous Onions didn't go to Australia when he was by far the best bowler in the country last season...Tremlett going was a joke. Finn was unselectable and Rankin was undercooked by the time he played.... What annoys me is that we will only pick bowlers if they can bowl high 80s mph. Mcgrath took stacks of test wickets and he coildn't bowl that fast.
  16. Onions has only just come back from injury and Warwickshire crushed Durham last week.. Jordan out for 4 against Warwickshire... interesting contest between Jordan and Woakes in this Warwicks v Sussex match...The ecb will be looking closely
  17. Has he even played a first class game.... Pace isn't everything. Its about putting the ball in the right place and being able to swing the ball back into the right handers which Welch taught Barker to do and since he did he's been a revelation in county cricket...
  18. He was unselectable because his bowling action had gone to pieces. I don't know where he is at now.. if they could pick him they would!!
  19. How did you guess Honestly though we have no left arm seamers... We bring in Woakes and Jordan, its like for like....
  20. Someone I think could do a really good job for England is Keith Barker. Gives us variety of left arm seam which we need against the righthanders, and India have 9 of them and he's back in form....
  21. Moeen has never opened in his life has he... He could bat at 4 though but personally he looks comfortable where he is especially with him having the extra duties with the ball as well..i'm not sure about Butler he's another of these agressive batsmen and his first class record isn't very good/ Also i don't rate his keeping. The best keepers are Foster or Reed but maybe time has past them by...Same with Ambrose. A good keeper but his batting is not where it was i don't think.
  22. Nice to see you getting to the point. Well...I was brought up on the latter stages of Boycott, then Gooch, Gower, Allan Lamb etc...some of these lot are nowhere near that calibre. My memories of that lot is us being whupped by the windies...
  23. The first days bowling that cost us now its a minefield for the left handers. Root should set out to play Jadeja as much as possible. Moeen looks good against the seamers but not sure how long he will last against Jadeja tomorrow...
  24. 71/3 Bell missed a straight one
