  1. I like his match comments afterward, all seemed fair and made sense. But... the reason the team we're getting the ball forward is because he's told them to play at 100% constantly. It isn't pretty and it's panic inducing. We're booting it a hell of a lot and I don't like it. Damning of Aston Villa that that is one of our better games recently. Get Gil on the pitch and let's try mixing some passing play in with getting it forward quickly. Benteke was better but still not great, can't stand him loitering offside and throwing his arms up constantly when he's playing so badly. Terrible, terrible subs today. We can stay up. We are good enough. Composure and belief can save us.
  2. Better than Weimann, should be in the squad ahead of him.
  3. I'm wondering if there was any applicants at all, if the position was ever even open. From the time of sacking Lambert, and getting a new manager in...surely the vacancy couldn't have been open long enough for people to actually apply? It's something that gives me a glimmer of hope, that there was maybe some greater plan that we're not aware of to all this. "unbelievable" levels of interest, according to our CEO I think Tom Fox is very comfortable in front of a reporter and will say whatever he wants to make Aston Villa appear in a more positive light. This could have been the truth, but it depends on what you'd consider "unbelievable" levels.
  4. Plenty of Championship favourites won tonight. Hope you all enjoyed yourself.
  5. We must not lose this. Couple of monstrous winnable games coming up and we need the confidence of not losing AGAIN going into them. I'll take a 0-0, I'll take a bloody 1-1 with no shots on target and a Williamson OG. Come on you Villa boys!

That red really made me laugh.
  7. That lost point yesterday hurts more with this Leicester result.
  8. I don't think he thought it could happen. Still might not.
  9. We've got a chance because we sacked Lambert. As we sacked him so late, it's a much smaller chance than if it had have been 1st Jan.
  10. Wow, SA collapse of England proportions.
  11. He needs to calm down, trying to do too much and achieving nothing. I'd put him left back for the Newcastle game. He had a run there under MON and was OK, who remembers that pass down the line he hit!? He can't be worse than Cissokho. Well he could, but it's unlikely. We NEED some attacking impetus from that area, we get the ball too much out there and do nothing with it.
  12. He needs to be told to just drift in to the near post when we've got it wide. Even with our creative vacuum of a side, we fire about two balls across the ground a match. He would clean up! Olivier Giroud scores about 10 goals a season doing this!
  13. I maintain what I said after a few games. He's weird. He's sort of slow and fast at the same time. So inconsistent.
  14. Solid solid player. Poor bit of play, punished by an outstanding cross. And a shitter of an error which has cost us a point.
  15. Today really hurt. I'm going to try and not get too carried away because it was a garbage 1-1 all day long. Then from nowhere, again, we manage to throw it away and pick up another red card to an important player. As well as being total crap all season long, we're really not getting breaks and it doesn't bode well. If Gil coming off was a tactical change, it was incorrect. No one was coming short for the ball and sadly Tim has spent all week telling everyone in the press that our game plan is going to be...Get it to Benteke ASAP. Having Weimann in the 18 is wrong, he's barely a footballer. That corner sums him up, said to my mate, this won't get three inches off the ground. Bang, into the first man, class. Cole injured again? We absolutely need IMO, to have one of Gil, Cole or even Grealish on the pitch to create that bridge between other nine and Benteke. Come on Tim, I'm with you. We need you to succeed.
  16. Just saw a good comparison in the match thread talking about Lambert's first home match. Everton. 0-3 at HT. Fingers crossed we do a bit better. Dealing with Crouch will be huge, Vlaar always struggles with big men, though Crouch isn't a traditional burly forward.
  17. The way he keeps talking there we be a lot of rushing around early on. So much pressure. I can imagine us almost being out of shape to be honest, we'll be switching to a 4-4-2 and Delph roams round all over the place normally, we'll need the central two to be disciplined and concentrate; very tricky to hold position when you're pressing so high as a team as well. We'll see, I can't wait!
  18. He's a headline writer's dream. The headline team obviously leap all over it and suddenly it becomes SHERWOOD WANTS TO BE GUARDIOLA He just needs to be careful because it won't take him many defeats or bad incidents for these things to be thrown back in his face. I just hope he doesn't talk about Spurs too much. **** Spurs. I don't care what you did there Tim. He enjoys the press of it all. He did well at Spurs so wanted to stay in the limelight, if things don't take off for him here, I wonder if he'll shy away? Can't imagine it to be honest
  19. Yeah but Harry said "If we don't win Euro 2016, we may as well pack up and go home because we'll never have a better chance." That's a ridiculous viewpoint. Germany and France are going to be the best two sides there. Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium all have more talented teams than us in my opinion. He's a bonehead.
  20. If anything I'd hope Sherwood would pick the players based on what he sees in training this week. I'm sure he will - but then there's no guarantee that Guzan has been better in training, is there? I just don't see why everyone is getting so het up in this thread - he'll pick the team he wants to pick. Then we watch, see how it goes over 90 mins, and then work out where to go from there. Everyone seems determined to get upset about things that not only haven't turned out badly, but haven't even yet happened. I didn't say Guzan would be better in training. What i'm saying is it would make more sense for Sherwood to pick his team based on what he sees in training rather than one cup game, whether it be Guzan or Given that starts. Also I don't think anybody is getting het up. They are just pointing out that Given hasn't done anything to displace Guzan. Hmmm. Sorry? You'd pick Given on form, from one game? That's a joke. Guzan has been brilliant for the most part of nearly three years now and you'd pick Given on form? It's not a remotely tough call. Given isn't fit to lace Guzan's boots Guzan is not in good form.. so yes i disagree with you. Guzan is hardly in bad form. How many goals has he cost us directly compared with the upset bringing shay in would cause to the defence? Too many people don't have the first clue about goalkeeping on these sites. Christ. Here's an idea - why don't we all wait until he names the teamsheet before we start having conniptions? Or an even better idea - wait until the game is finished, and we've seen the performance of whoever the goalie was? I'll carry on debating and posting opinion on a discussion forum thanks. You log off until after the game.
  21. If Given starts I'll be irritated regardless of whether we win or not (though I'll be buzzing for days before it sets in!). Given isn't what he used to be. Guzan is the much better keeper and hasn't 'lost' his place.
  22. Twice in a row at home, four or five days apart! Real test for Sherwood, two defeats will be an absolute hammer blow to fans' reactions towards him and the team. Two wins however...
