Gil should be starting every game IMO. That is, until he puts in a poor performance, which he still hasn't.
  2. Still absolutely over the moon with two wins over them in a week I'd be even more miserable than usual if we'd lost even one.
  3. Ben Davies Philipp Lahm Jussi Jaaskelainen Andy Carroll Seyi Olofinjana Marian Pahars Martin Petrov Robbie Blake Filipe Morais
  4. Four points from Sunderland away and Swansea at home and that's it for me. We'll be so confident, and will just pick up the remaining ten or whatever from somewhere.
  5. I can imagine him being overly ambitious with his transfer targets. Not sure if that will be a good thing or not. Yeah, I can imagine that! "I fancy this Pogba lad." I'm actually terrified he'll go for some bollocks from Spurs like Mason and Adebayor. I wouldn't mind Townsend, before his wrist injury last season, he was incredible for Spurs. He improves the more he plays. Levy would take us to the cleaners though.
  6. He got the winner in 1-0 win there a year or two before didn't he? Scrappy, messy goal where Cuellar absolutely monstered him after the ball had gone in Nice to see him looking arsed again.
  7. Such an up and down season for him. Sheff Wed and Brighton he did nothing of note, then goes to a struggling Forest, new manager comes in and boom. Interestingly they've moved him around a lot. He's played wide left/right of a front three and also sat deepest in a midfield diamond. Very intelligent player clearly, and just like his brother, has an absolute cannon of either foot. Would love to see it work out for him.
  8. I'd play Guzan in both games at Wembley. Given makes me too nervous.
  9. Plenty of work to do, and I think he knows that as well. We got a fair few breaks in those West Brom matches to be fair, second one especially - Brown and Lescott sitters. Nice to see us getting some breaks though to be fair, this season it feels like everything has fallen against us! Great to see the team showing some balls though. Just need to retain some organisation at the back, which I think we will in time. Four points from Sunderland away and Swansea at home and we're safe and can really enjoy Wembley I think.
  10. He should be starting if he's fit, he's our best centre half by a distance.
  11. Lowton can't defend. He only had to do a little bit as WBA sat so deep and he didn't shine at that. He was excellent in possession and going forward in general. Worth sticking him in team against weaker opposition I'd say.
  12. I thought, for him, he was terrible against West Brom. He got an assist and scored a great pen which is a sign of just how good he is. He's going into most things half-heartedly, or just shying away and not at all. Holding the ball up is huge, and he isn't interested in trying, Berahino outshone him for bringing others into play. It could be injury worries in his head, or indifference to the team, but he needs to improve for me. We need him to be better.

That West Brom result was an exact flip of the Stoke game. 1-1, game dying out into a draw, we got a pen because of an error. Gil should have started, we would have been a better side with him on the pitch. Just because we nicked a 2-1 doesn't mean to team selection couldn't have been better. Needs to play more.
  14. Can't knock him too much so far. Largely good performances, with differing styles which is a rarity! Tactical switches which work and look like they change our play. Lovely stuff. He wants it as well, he really wants it. But I'm sorry, his subs have not been good enough. You can call hindsight, but a lot of them at the time, people are saying it they look weak. Cleverley for Bacuna is always dangerous as Bacuna doesn't know what he's doing in the middle, he has to be more advanced. IMO if Gil had started over Zog, we'd have been two or three up at HT - strange he doesn't seem to fancy him so far. Grealish had a hand in the goal and was OK, but didn't get into the game as much as I'd have liked. He was showing for it to be fair, but maybe he doesn't have the presence to really demand it at the moment.
  15. City are soft. Pellegrini needs to be replaced I think. Not sure he will as they'll give Vieria one more year with their U21 and then bring him into top job.
  16. Three in three for Preston. Stunned he got as little action as he did when we have such technical ineptitude in much of our first team squad. Quite remarkable.

Heat maps have their place, there's an entertaining Adam Johnson one floating around Twitter at the moment. Got this from an Opta feed at work, you have to pay for it sadly.

The problem with that is if Sherwood persists with the 4-4-2, having him in midfield leaves a lot of work for the other midfielder to do We didn't quite set up as a 442 on Saturday did we? Was quite difficult to work it out but I saw it as 433, otherwise who was on RM - Cleverley? We did. Occasionally Sinclair joined the attack and it seemed to be Benteke who moved right (whereas you'd assume it would be Gabby) and it sort of made a 4-3-3 But mostly it was 4-4-2. Yes Cleverley was very much playing on the right Indeed it was a 4-4-2, a largely ineffectual one. I really really hope he at least plays Gil up front if he wants to stick with it.
  19. I don't like him, but I'm sure I'll warm to him if he saves this sinking ship. Be interested in his actions if we drop.... Got a nagging feeling he'll try and distance himself from it all and say it's nothing to do with him, which would be incorrect. It'll upset all the players and I can't imagine next season would start too well - he needs to just getting the dressing room together and be determined to get back up.

Gil has to play. All the bloody time. He's one of about three players who can control and pass the ball in our team. I'd drop Benteke before him. If he's bit part, and we go down, I'll be pissed off as well as gutted because he's a player who can open teams up on his own.
  21. He's number one to blame for me. We shouldn't have been down where we were (are), playing the garbage we were (are) when he left. Lerner is a terrible, terrible owner, but the team we had (have) were not relegation bad. Sherwood can't be as bad as him. He literally can't, because I don't think any manager at any club in the Premier League will ever have a run like Lambert had without getting sacked. It was farcical it was allowed to continue.
  22. Lescott bound to score. Going to this, looking forward to it for some reason.
  23. If I'm dreaming we're charging to a new future I'll have Diego Simeone as manager thanks... Ben Davies and Dejan Lovren would be good players we could nick for less than they're worth after shaky seasons. Milner on a free, maybe Ings if they weren't after disgusting wages.
