  1. Vlaar is excellent fully fit. Never is, so no new contract, sorry Ron.
  2. Against West Brom he pulled out of a few headers on goal. Great to see a confident Christian arriving at the back post like that, **** off, I'm bigger than you, this is going in.
  3. Well don't include me in that thanks. Lively going forward, but loads of improvement to come in his game yet.
  4. Lambert did a lot of damage. For a long time, negative comments towards him were met with derision on here. It's a football forum, and people are simply returning the óles, kicking their opposition when down. I think we're in for a very very bumpy ride with Sherwood rather than a smooth ascension.
  5. Spoke to Preston season ticket holder yesterday. He's 28 and he said Johnson is the best midfielder he's ever seen at Preston No doubt in his mind he'll be back in the Premier League within three years. Time will tell.

"Given a go"? This is not playschool, it's serious business. Winning games is all that matters. I like the lad, seriously, but we are not Aston Carles. That's not an attack on you personally by the way, just a general feeling of frustration I have with regards this subject. Perhaps it's me not understanding something? I just think he's shown he is easily good enough for this team, and can seriously contribute to us winning games and scoring goals. He's been an absolute shining light in a terrible side every single match he's played for us, yes including Stoke. I'm not saying play him every game all the time, but to me, he just isn't being given a fair crack by Tim, and that is a shame for Aston Villa. In the diamond, he's the best player we have who can play in behind the strikers. Better than Zog, better than Grealish, better than Joe Cole! Look how good Zog has been since being "given a go" and plucked from nowhere! To reiterate, do not play him no matter what, in any system. In the flat 4-4-2 we played Saturday, I have no issues with him being benched, that was clearly the correct call. But look at the WBA home game, diamond in midfield, we were the better team and ended up sneaking the game with a penalty. By playing Gil more, when the game suits, I think we're giving ourselves a better chance going forward. I'm hoping Sherwood will give him a go eventually. I'd be really disappointed to see him leave, and if he doesn't play much till the end of the year, there's no doubts in my mind he will.

Can see him off in the Summer. Be a real shame if he's not given a go in this confident side.
  8. They remain soft. Too many wasters who turn it on against crap sides at home, but any sort of battle shown and they disappear.
  9. The guy has all the qualities we need. Scores and assists. Everything else doesn't matter. It does if he's playing RB. Remember Stoke at home last season Play him in the more winnable games until he gains a bit more discipline. He may never do that, some players are suited to certain games.
  10. Switched back to a flat 4-4-2 today. Nice to see us adapting and switching systems with such efficiency. Everything he's trying is coming off so well. Tell you what as well... should we beat Swansea at home (perfectly possible), I would bloody fancy us to go and cause Utd trouble at Old Trafford.
  11. What will he ask for on a free? £70k+ with a fat signing on fee? I want top quality performances till the end of the season to consider that. I hate to keep mentioning his name, but what a statement it would be if we could tempt Milner back, would happily pay him more.
  12. Incredible today. Shouldn't play against better sides though as he can't defend and he doesn't have much between the ears. A very inconsistent player, but when he's confident, get him in the side.
  13. Still in it I'm afraid, but the BEST thing about the current feeling round the club is that I barely care about other teams' results.
  14. I thought he looked shaky and nervous, and gave away his usual couple of dangerous FKs. Not a centre half though, and did enough to keep them out, so no huge complaints. Still can't quite nail down what exactly he is. I maintain that he's somehow fast and slow at the same time.
  15. Brilliant performance. He's just given our decent side some confidence, great to see. Still work to be done, we're not safe yet.
  16. Amazing for the young lad. Not sure we're comfortable enough in the league yet to do this sort of thing regularly, but at 4-0 up, it was an excellent opportunity to send out a message.
  17. It's certainly the end of his time as a guaranteed starter. I'd imagine so yes, but if you'd said a month ago Gil wouldn't be one you'd have been surprised. Westwood remains a better player than Cleverley, so I've no doubts he'll be knocking around the team this season.
  18. Very nervous for this one. Momentum is with us though, and the lads should be confident. Gab will give them nightmares running in behind.
  19. Napoli, Everton, and a be on Wolfsburg while they were 1-0 down saved me Cheltenham losses
  20. I've grown to like Harry Kane this year. He's not any good, but he's so full of confidence he's scoring a hideous amount. His lisp only endears me more to him The big clown.
  21. Roy Keane loves football. Popped up on ITV tonight! He's not sympathetic enough to coach at the top level I don't think. It's weird, he might work as a youth coach or something. He would mentally improve 60% of players, and just ruin the others.
  22. Referees are the main reason players are going down easily. They don't give fouls unless players drop... so shock, they all fall over the time, and are rewarded with free-kicks.
  23. Benteke should start on the bench v Sunderland I think.
