  1. What was the formation tonight? Saw the lineup and it looked like a 4-1-5? He makes some silly decisions. I hope he improves. I maintain we're not far off, just need more edge in attack.

Looking forward to him starting against County. Would have improved us undoubtedly at any point yesterday, either starting or off the bench.
  3. Must be stronger. Or wiser. Do something, anything, except what he did that corner. Was flashback to a few years ago of him being bullied. Don't get tight enough to allow him to get hold of you and carry you to the point where he heads it in. Fall over, let him fall on top of you, he can't go through you, that's why he pushed you out the way. Back off and have a run at the ball. What's the point in going that far out of the area, when you know the man you're marking is going to be coming back in, meaning he'll have a run at it. He's been fine recently, but two individual errors have cost us two goals. One came from an inexperienced player, the other came from one who just has to be better by now.
  4. Gabby, oh my God. What are you doing? The two times he had it down the left hand side of the box sum 95% of his career up. A scuff to the keeper and a miskick with the wrong leg Do you think he gives a toss? He's going to retire in three years time a multi-millionaire and you'll never hear of him again. Unless he goes broke through bad investment which he has a chance of doing. I said last year, if he hadn't got that contract from Lambert, he'd have retired at the end of the one he was on. Who else would give him one? On anything more than 20k a week? No one that's who. He doesn't try for us, why would he try in the Championship for a smaller club? He does make me laugh more than any other player at Villa, so he gives me something to enjoy when we're losing at least. Be it his face or his ability, he's always good for something.
  5. Electric debut from someone everyone was hyping. Couple of loose touches, then a stunning assist, followed by genuine fear from Palace when he got the ball. You could hear their uneasy fans when he got the ball. Farcically fast. Start v Notts County, 50/50 v Sunderland at the moment. Will need more than boot it past the full back once people are aware of him, which they probably now are.
  6. Such a good player, hope that doesn't dent his confidence. Encourage him to do it at better times, not with 3 mins left away from home at 1-1. Half our attacks come from him going round someone. I'll take a goal like that if he can get assists and goals at the other end.
  7. Poor Tim, really poor. Signing some really good players using a scouting network that's put in place by the club doesn't mean you can continue to make errors. Gabby and Gestede? People have bad games. As well as these two having a bad game, they were both shattered, why are they being left on. Bring on your £10m striker. Have Kozak on the bench ahead of Richardson. Bring Sinclair in up front. Do SOMETHING when we're so toothless. Bacuna is oblivious to everything. Fukcing everything. He can play RB in games where we're going to be on the front foot. We're not far away, but are blunt at the top end of the pitch.
  8. Like him a lot. Just not fit yet, was really heaving from 60 mins onwards.
  9. Better than Ayew, which is not saying he had a good game.
  10. You watched last week and still think that? I'm not sure he's going to be the player you want him to be in that case. That's not a dig, just an observation.Fair enough, but I think he could be great for us. By composure, I don't mean carrying the ball out or anything dramatic. Just not panicking when the ball is at his feet, or making its way around our half. Nervy play will lead to silly decisions elsewhere in his game, which he also had a few of last week. Positionally, I think he'd he mucb better if he calmed down at bit. You don't have to James Collins everything and win it 20 yards into their half, you can sometimes, but it's a judgement call. Full backs will be vital tonight defensively with Ronney dropping deeper and Depay and probably Young angling in on goal. Richards, Clark and Westwood need to organise a plan for when Rooney drops away from his lone forward position.
  11. Hoping to see more composure from him tonight, the ball was like a bomb at his feet at times last week. If he can hold his position better rather than charging off, he'll improve. Centre half the only position I feel a bit uneasy about now, but I do want Micah to step up as captain and make himself undroppable.
  12. Cole was the best defensive full back in the world by quite a distance in his prime. On the ball he was never fantasic though, he got into great areas, but always lacked technical quality of other full backs. Steve Finnan and Gary Neville for example were much better crossers, despite not being as good as Cole overall. I like that on the ball, Amavi looks the absolute dogs. Two footed as well!
  13. Utter garbage. He barely had anything to do, and did it all terribly. Don't want to see him in the squad again.
  14. Up and down today. Terrifying in possession, and I don't trust him positionally. Won some big challenges and encouraged everyone within 70 yards of him which was great to see. OK overall.
  15. You can see he's got ability, looking forward to him catching up fitness-wise. I think he lacked a bit of confidence early on, couple of overhit passes didn't help him. Would definitely stick with him in the XI for Utd to give him a boost.
  16. Jesus Christ, what a footballer. Total cut above anyone else on the pitch.
  17. This would be really weird. Rather him than Adebayor though.
  18. It'll be interesting to see how long Tim sticks with him if the errors that have happened every preseason game happen in say 4 of the first 8 matches. Hopefully he'll dominate and we won't have to worry, but he's not impressed me thus far. Vlaar would getting plenty of stick if he'd played like this in warm ups.
  19. Express seem pretty sure he's incoming.
  20. League Cup final 2012 sticks in my head, when he was very poor in a strong Cardiff performance. By the sounds of it he's absolutely transformed himself since then, which is great news. Looking forward to seeing him cause some trouble.
  21. Would love them to bomb and have to go crawling back to Sam. They're in for a shaky time down there with us this season.
  22. Despite only pre-season, defence doesn't look right to me. Micah is one who could fall out of the side pretty quickly. Bournemouth will be such a great game for neutrals. Two attacking sides.
  23. I'm in full support of every salute that goes on between Villa players/management. I'd be up for it replacing the wave and nod after a promising through ball that came to nothing.
  24. Kudos to Tim for utilising the scouting network, and for bringing in an experienced assistant in Wilkins. I have big reservations about the season ahead, but the flurry of signings means I'm being drawn into optimism and excitement again. Bloody football. My main concern is the defence as I have little faith in Richards, Clark is coming off the back of a big injury and Okore struggled towards the end of last season. Full backs could shine or struggle from game to game, and Guzan could have doubts in his head about whether Tim even wants him here. I think it's important we don't take what Tim says in press conferences too seriously because, rightly or wrongly, he treats them like a joke. Similar to Mourinho, he just dicks about in most of them. The most honest words you'll hear him say in my opinion are those immediately after games because he's damn passionate if nothing else, and will still be thinking about the game. We'll take some kickings, and hopefully give some out. I'm looking forward to all the carnage
  25. Marlon gets a pass for Liverpool away, Newcastle at home, and having an entertaining skull. Heskey worse than him for me.
