    Carles Gil

Yep, just read it was 34 out 35 passes completed, the highest from anyone on the pitch. Coupled with Gil having more touches than anyone else once he came on against Spurs last week, would suggest he's going to be such a vital player for us. Im pretty sure that the one pass he did give away to a city player he bolted after it and won it back. Correct me if im wrong (like I have to ask on VT ) I think I remember that actually. Was it not really early on in the game as well? Yep, inside his own half, over towards the Doug Ellis stand. Tried to poke it to Sanchez I think.
  2. Ridiculously good on the ball. Has to be taught how to contain a winger during 1-on-1s. Navas rinsed him a lot yesterday, and should have got himself a few assists. You don't have to win the ball every single challenge - analyse the risk and push someone wide if it means them going round you has them in on goal.
  3. Nice to see him back in the first team, doesn't take long to see he's got ability. The awareness is there, he just needs to quicken it up sometimes. Definitely want to see him getting fitter though, he's been gassed in every game for us after about 60 mins.
  4. Really big fan. A sensible team selection and subs and shock horror, we look like half a side. He doesn't take a backward step when given yet more stupid questions like the selection of French players. Plenty of work to do. About time we got a break in keeping the clean sheet, but City should have scored at least two. I think we need to bring in a forward in Jan because we're going to have to score a couple to win most games, I'm unsure of the solidity of this defence.
  5. Westwood lacks the physicality to really compete in centre mid, but I think his willingness to receive the ball in any scenario will help him to get into Remi's sides. Tough tackling and winning the ball is one thing, but getting your own team's game going requires a lot of bravery - that's something Westwood always looks to do, even when he's not having the best of games.
  6. I was asked to get them. I was quite happy to just keep my word as it was. I could probably find ones from 3-6 months ago. Do it.
  7. So gutted it's City on Sat. If Tim had messed off a week earlier it could have been Swansea and a great chance of a win. Huge belief in Remi, and us going forwards. Been drawn in again, what a sap.
  8. He's been absolutely smashed in the head there. Right in front of the ref. Poor officiating.
  9. Gana must be injured. Amavi and Gil not on the pitch, what's the point? Go home Kev.

    New manager

Houllier was all about tactics throughout his career. Don't get me wrong, we were a car crash for about 6 months but once it clicked we were playing some lovely stuff. We went from being in a relegation battle to finishing 9th and putting one on Arsenal and Liverpool. Yes I know, illness, McAllister etc etc, they merely continued the philosophy. I was gutted we let him go, I do wonder where we'd be today had we not. If we had perhaps put the infrastructure in place at the time, him as DOF and McAllister as head coach... O'Neill was incredibly limited, couldn't see the long game for shit, but at times he was astonishingly effective. He made some poor choices in the transfer market, the game moved on tactically, que sera. McLeish knew what he wanted and he achieved that. To our detriment. Ugh. Lambert was a **** bottler. No discernible philosophy really. In retrospect I think he's actually quite intelligent and capable, but he will need to step down and define himself. Grow a pair of bollocks. Sherwood. Ummm yeah. Not actually a football manager so doesn't count. This is excellent. Bang on.

    New manager

Some great stuff in here reading through from this morning. Garde at 11/10 amazing, gutted to have missed out. Stan reporting Bacuna on a hoverboard great. I'm excited. We're **** probably regardless, so this is bringing something of the unknown. I'd recommend not getting too upset if we get thumped by City and the boys on TV cry about what a gamble we've made. 95% of pundits are idiots who don't understand football.
  12. There are more coming. He's such a bell is Tim.
  13. Bet you'll be banging the drum to bring N'Zogbia back in. maybe. You gonna cry and demand the new man's sacked when Gil doesn't play every single minute? I look forward to your Charles parade as he's charging head down out of play. I'll be in here praising Westwood's corners if you need me. I think you're confused. I've never said nzogbia should be a regular starter, I've never claimed to be a big fan. My whole point last year was that we met our goals with him in the team, and I didn't get why people like yourself had a tantrum over it. Again I don't like nzogbia, but if he's picked and we get results then I'm not going to be bothered that he was selected. So good try with the dig but there's just nothing there. Maybe another scenario will give you a chance soon though. "Good try" That's great.

  15. Bet you'll be banging the drum to bring N'Zogbia back in.
  16. Him getting into a stupid shoving match stunk of Sherwood. That's wot we faaackin need ladz!!
  17. Not winning yesterday was gutting. We needed those points. Swansea were so **** bad. Couldn't see anything when Lambert left to be fair. We managed to get a bounce. Dyche? Rowett? Moyes will say no to us as we're dropping like a stone and him going down with us is not the way he'd want to come back to England.
  18. Tim, get out of my club you total fool.
  19. That looks so **** strong compared to us. I think I'd be tempted to start Ayew up front instead of Gestede. I don't trust us to get enough (any) decent balls into the box so would rather have someone there who can contribute. I'd also start Bacuna, even though he's an idiot, for some pace against Montero. Goose Bacuna Richards Clark Amavi Westwood Gana Gil Veretout Grealish Ayew Someone, has to get hold of Sigurdsson. They're half a side without him. They tried Ayew as 10 against Stoke and he was just standing up front.
  20. He'll be back in for Gil I imagine Oh Tim.
  21. Be nice to take a decent manager off them. Very amusing indeed. He might enjoy taking a dig at Sherwood on his way out as well.
