    Years to get where though? If that link with Mendes had come along 10 years earlier, they'd have been in the PL for the last 10 years. They're the same as City/Chelsea, created from nothing by external finance. Not really a proper club any more. Wolves they ay.

    Just picking a couple of names from up and down the league... Dan Johnson, Oliver Norwood, Markus Henriksen, Matt Grimes. Our team would improve with all them ahead of Hourihane. I'm interested in Aston Villa winning, not Conor Hourihane chalking up numbers. He's gone down in my estimation even more during this last run of easier games. I thought he would step up and show some interest in leading the side a bit. Nope, hiding away as soon as it gets tough. Hopefully he can be part of a better unit when Jack gets fit again.

    I think he'd come on loan again if we went up. He's still, even with our crap form, getting loads of chances a game. He must be loving the sights on goal he gets. It's good work from him and something about the way we setup that fits.

    Tough to do with scared players. Axel bringing it out, frees up space. Jack welcoming the ball into feet no matter his position on the pitch, opens holes everywhere. A grubby win will help confidence if nothing else. Smith needs improvement 100%. Another win at Reading essential with Sheff U coming up I think. Players need to find their balls.

    I really like Smith, much of what he's done here has been excellent. Picking up from Bruce, he was starting from a position of grim disadvantage. However, after his comments this evening... if we go into the rest of the season without squad improvement and he stays silent, I won't be able to shake the feeling he's let the board off easy. If he doesn't get what he wants I hope he says so, because there's gaps everywhere and it's unfair for him to bear the brunt.

    He is. Rabiot isn't that good. You know when Van Dijk signed for Liverpool he suddenly became the best defender in the world. That sort of elevation will happen to Grealish when he gets a move.

    He must have a buyout. Around £35m I'd guess. If he ends the season on fire, I think someone will pay that. If he doesn't have a brilliant end to the season, I don't think they will.
