  1. Didn't see much of the ball and was bit wasteful when he got it. Some overly ambitious 1-2s when we really needed to just keep hold. Expect him to improve because his decision making is usually pretty good.
  2. He forces the team to play the way the manager wants. So willing the have the ball all the time, proper captain last night. Impossible to replace. He's going to the top. If we don't pull this off I'll be disappointed with a £30m fee.
  3. Over the moon. Dean needs to be more proactive I agree. No problems with the short corners. They had three massive centre backs heading all our crosses away in open play so it was a good move. Even when they were all over us and we were creaking I'm so glad we kept passing the ball. That's how we play now. Obvious issues with the players losing the ball, but they stuck at it. It was also utter domination against the 10 men which has sometimes been an issue for us down the years.
  4. Only of any use in that position when we're absolutely dominating. Not good enough to play on the half turn and knows it. It kills our game. Whelan isn't really good enough to do it either but he tries to, his errors come from trying to do the right thing. Gave out some horror passes to put others under pressure. Good penalty. Looked right in the corner but haven't seen a replay of it from behind. No chance we'll beat Leeds with him in that position.
  5. Steve Bruce loaned this man out for Orjan Nyland. @briny_ear
  6. Very bad footballer. To see how far behind Callum Robinson he is who we sold three years ago is upsetting. Needs to go out on loan next year no matter what happens.
  7. I'm sorry but that hilarious. Best ref we had this season. Didn't let us get fouled into next week with no punishment at Forest. His antics are totally ridiculous, but he makes Bournemouth v Burnley watchable. I'll probably start to dislike him again if we go up and have him more often.
  8. Still think that Samba header is going in now if I see it.
  9. If he had a crystal ball and knew Albion would sit everyone and their dog behind the ball he would have started Hourihane. Whelan was the correct selection.
  10. I know the one you mean. Horrid. Really made me laugh though. Stuck in the mud.
  11. Good grief what a save. Unreal. Reminded me of Guzan v QPR from Samba header. Not sure on the goal. Must admit I was surprised to see Gayle hit it so clean on his left, good early hit. He was too deep but it all appeared from nowhere so I think I can forgive it. He's going to have to stand tall away leg, those corners will be whipping in.
  12. Adomah/Green have nothing on El Ghazi. Neither does enough. I know it's not his position but I'd honestly consider O'Hare out there ATM. Don't even know if we're allowed to, so tired of watching them two waste opportunities.
  13. He had no space at all to work in, found it tough. Never hid, kept looking for the ball. One nice run and shot first half when crowd needed a lift and it was clear Albion had decided they were going to play 7-3-0.
  14. If you could see the future and see how defensive WBA were going to be you'd be throwing him straight into the team. Did a great job when he came on. Was in the pocket ready for another screamer as well, thought Jack went the wrong way late on. Late on at 2-1 up he joined in with closing down and left a big fat hole right in front of the defence, it was when they put it out of play over on the right wing. That's why it's back to the bench for me, he doesn't have the positioning to play that role in a game where the opposition needs to score. Smith being the madman he is might go the other way and try to score early then bring Whelan on to contain.
  15. Understand everything there. But I think all the criticism of Hause can also be applied to Taylor. No right foot at all for poor Neil. The both are a bit ropey on the ball but Hause looks uglier doing it I think. I'd start Hause next leg as he gives up extra defending set-pieces. That's the main way Albion will worry us you'd think.
  16. Starts at the Albion for me.
  17. No chance I'm starting Hourihane. He's shown far too many times how easy it is for him to disappear. Useful if we're absolutely dominating and no other scenario. I suppose plan is to come flying out the blocks and dominate from the off so Smith may see it that way.
  18. What's the B team mean? Are they not allowed in the U23 league?
  19. Maybe I'm missing some seasons or something. Where did he start playing after Southgate left, was he centre half? He did struggle a bit there without Southgate shepherding. Maybe 2002 was He was definitely better in the middle but he was brilliant left mid for us. "Barry for England" was chanted every game for about two years before he finally got into the squad. Always remember the Blues 2-2 in 2004, we fell apart when Barry went off injured. He used to dictate most of our play from the left. Portsmouth link was 2006 and I'd have been gutted if he left.
  20. What position was he? He was left mid with a shaved head around 2003 and was definitely one of the best wide left in the country. He should have been in the Euro 2004 squad but Sven refused to pick him. Can't remember him getting much stick at all.
