Great post. We aren't quite fully there yet I don't think though. Some scouting setups of smaller clubs are consistently outshining big boys even though they have much of the same data. £20m Brentford for example. Barnsley will get there at some point you'd think. This summer is huge and although I'm not expecting a Pirlo... A Sigurdsson, a Piatek, a Benrahma, a Super John McGinn would be wonderful.

I think a DOF or Chief Exec yes, but not a scout for me. The players you've listen Juanfran and Monterrubio played with, they might have not been pals at all. Can't assume they'll be exchanging recommendations just because they once shared a dressing room. It's about judging a player.

Forlan from Villarreal and Reyes from Arsenal were very much well-known. Not the sort of signings we're apparently making. Suso's movements are hard to track yes. Wonder where Purslow came across him. Blimey. Wonder how they've landed those roles? From nowhere to Premier League. Expecting massive things from them with our current standing.

Very frustrating because if we'd have put an option to buy on the high side, Bournemouth would have accepted I'm sure. I suspect we probably tried to stick one on around £10m and there was no benefit for them to accept. If we'd have said £16m, which looked far too high at the time it would have been signed off. If he wants this done badly enough, a transfer request will go in. That will save us £1.5m or so.

Size of the task for this man highlighted in this nifty twitter thing I saw from the excellent Ben Mayhew. When you think within that 63.8% there's massive chunks representing players like Taylor, Hourihane, Steer, Elmo who IMO will struggle in the PL, it's remarkable. We hardly have a team. Although he seems to have a strong reputation, can anyone highlight some players Suso has signed before. Don't really know anything about his previous signings. We're putting a lot of hope in his scouts like Juan Fran and the French fella I've forgot the name of, but is this their first major role? You only have to look at the many many many crap pundits to know being a good player doesn't mean you can spot a player/understand football well. I think Smith is almost the perfect coach for this type of squad overall. He's used to having a squad churn when he comes back for pre-season and Brentford very rarely let him down with their buys. We may not get this chance for a squad revamp this severe for another 7 or 8 years, this is an incredible opportunity to sort us out.

Sheff U linked with Luke Freeman who has been QPR's best player every game for about 2 years. Good player. Could switch in for John or Jack if needed. Fee is £4m and I'll be surprised if it's that low as everyone we look from the same division seems to be "worth" £20m.

We leave for America in 24 days I think. Absolutely need 5 signings minimum before season starts. Looks like the club want 6 because there's so much keeper chat. A signing every 4 days until we go away to get them all in before USA then.

He's alright. His main strong trait is organising a Burnley defence of lumps who have a very deep midfield sat in front of them. We'll be much more open.
